Crazy good price for one of the best games in recent years.

  • I'm having trouble at checkout though. Both the Epic launcher and the website give me blank screens 😢

All good. It just took some persistence.

    • Epic store is crapping itself.

This is arguably the best game i've played in the last 5 years

  • +5

As others have said, absolutely amazing game. I highly recommend this game at the full price - this is just a steal!

    Awesome game.

  • Epic not pulling any punches with these sales.

  • +3

I stopped playing right after 100 runs

Thanks for the info Mortgagetightass, I will give it a try

This is on GamePass for anyone wondering.

    • +3

I was just about to say.. this should be pinned. Wife playing it on gamepass ATM.

  • Good game. Played it on switch

  • This worth picking up on ps5? Been playing a lot of different single player story driven games and I have never really played rogue likes games. Could get it for about $35.

    • +5

I finished the game on PC, then got the platinum trophy on PS5.
I think it plays best with a controller, so PS5 is a good choice.

      • I'm sure you can use controller with PC.

        • +4

You can. But I assume he is asking if you are missing out if you can't play with KB/M, in my opinion, you are not missing out.

      • If I remember correctly, I think the devs even recommend using controller over mouse and keyboard

      • Most speedruns I've seen use controller. While m+k gives good control at aim, lots of people prioritise controller for better precision with positioning over wasd and rely on aim assist.

That said, never played the game and probably won't given the genre, but loved the writing and 21k of dialogues

This game can get annoying but is so clever, you get annoyed with yourself mostly. It gets so addictive. Awesome game.

  • +1

Echoing what others said. One of the best games I've played recently.

Is it better to buy this on switch?

    • It would make a good portable, but I played it entirely on Steam. If you can get a similar price and you have a Switch no reason why not.

    • I bought it on Switch originally. There's obviously differences between Switch and other consoles/PC - main thing being FPS. There's some levels later on where on Switch it would drop from 30FPS occasionally - for me, there had to be the right combination of lots of enemies on the screen, lots of attacks happening, and lots of visual stuff happening too. It wasn't enough to affect me personally, and for me the drop in FPS was pretty minimal that I didn't even notice it happening (and it's late enough in the level you don't see it often anyway), but if having constant FPS is an absolute must for you, then maybe see how they perform on PC/consoles

That said, for me playing it on Switch was great - I have a controller I used to play, and it was such a great experience

    • Depends what you value.. I have it on Switch, but you definitely get slowdowns when there's a lot happening on screen. As you get to higher difficulty ('heat'), that might be difference between winning a run or not. That said, I really love the portability of the Switch so its a compromise I'm willing to make.

Pretty sure you're not going to see it this cheap on Switch for a fair while either..

    • I have the game on Switch and I've spent fair bit of hours into that. The portability aspect was great, but as others have said, the console does struggle towards the end game. I kinda hoped they'd release "a Switch Pro" for that reason alone, since I felt like the game was well optimised until things get hectic (again, end game mainly).

That said, I spent hours playing thinking that this game was great, so I don't think it's a deal breaker.

There is a cross-platform cloud save and achievement sharing feature, so I think you can get this on PC and play it for a bit, decide if you want to get it for switch?

I will however, mention that for me, the game didn't have as much replayability as other roguelike games I played. It's not to say that the game is bad, but more, I think the game's strength, the characters, the story, isn't something that make a game more replayable. It was an amazing game for me and dou'd still get fair bit of hours out of this. I play it every now and then, but after I "finished" the game, I didn't feel as compelled to go back to it. I am not sure whether this kind of game can be played over different platforms over very long period of time.

  • Good babby's first roguelite but for any veterans the repetitiveness of it comes out pretty quick.

  • The game I felt was really using the whole roguelike elements to the story's benefits. You try and try and try again kind of thing with more unlocks and better skills.

  • Hmm

    Got it on gamepass

    Got it on Switch

Guess I'll get it on PC too 🤣

  • +1

Very highly recommended, even on the Epic Store.

Played and enjoyed Bastion/Transistor, their third game not so much, but Hades is something very special, from story to gameplay it's a very good game.

    Hades also won a BAFTA.

  • +1

Absolute steal at this price for one of the best and most addictive games in recent memory

  • +1

The only game i bought during early access and was totally worth the money for it! not to mention amazing soundtrack and most of the voice-acting is done by their own creative staff.

I'm sorry but if you're waiting for a game with as much love and care channelled into it as Hades to be eight dollars, just pirate it ffs.

If you're gonna be a leech, at least have the balls to own it.

    • You won't know that until you buy it / pirate it lol

  • Yep highly recommended too. Very addictive game Been playing this since it came out on xbox game pass.

  • Great find, cheers!

  • Bought it based on the people in the comments + a million indie game reviewers raving about it. Dang how good can it be? #curiositykilledthecat
