  • Thanks OP!

Good discount on points (but not on the cash price).

But dialling down the points used (as not many would have the entire amount) still takes advantage of the discount (the benefit just reduces proportionally).

  • Hmm doesn't seem worthwhile for me personally.
I.e. iPad mini 6 without points is $1201. Rrp $979.

Dollar value per 1000 points for full points redemption is worth $7.14. Review on finder suggests to get at least $20/1000points for value. So in agreement even with the discounted points, the inflated rrp makes this a No Deal for the iPad mini (specifically what I'm after).

Hope my quik mafs is right

Prices look like RRP to me. They have the $979 iPad mini 6 (64GB wifi+cellular) as well - the $1209 one is 256GB. They also have the wi-fi only 64GB ($749).

The issue with points valuation is that business/first class flights are always the best deal by literally an order of magnitude. If you're looking at Finder, look at this page:

      https://www.finder.com.au/frequent-flyer-analysis-how-much-i…

If you're not willing to take the risk of selling points and don't have big travel plans then this deal isn't bad as far as non-travel-related redemptions go. Especially because Apple stuff is so rarely on sale. This sale does include items that were excluded from, say, the Black Friday cashback bumps.

  • Just like annual leave balances, people must have accumulated lots of FF points too during the 2 years of lock downs.

  • Probably better off selling the points & then pay cash?

  • looking at getting the apple watch SE 66,640 points what do you guys think? Good deal

  • I think the last 20% discount off gift cards was a better deal from the QF store, cause you could then go into say JB and price match say Officeworks on a mac etc, which would have been another possible 10% cheaper

  • My email also said the 20% stacks with 10% points club plus which sweetens the deal further. If you have a surplus of points, it makes good value.
It's hard when you compare it to the value you get from airfares, but if you compare instead of the cost to acquire the points vs the value of the apple products which are maybe 10% off at the best of times, then it makes for very good value apple products.

  • Been watching this for a few days. Pretty good deal.
Approx 100,000 points gets $500 retail vouchers, while 107,000 gets an entry iPad Mini 6 worth $750.

Do we think the retail stores will have any Apple sales come Boxing Day?
