Been using this for years, highly recommend

    • +4

Came here to say the same thing. Works great on Pixel

      • +3

Also came here to say it as well, about half a decade while trying other launchers, keep coming back to Nova. It's the first thing I install on a new phone.

    • Used to be free I remember.
NoRoot Firewall shows it calls home.

      • +4

It still is free, this is for the paid version.

    • Whats the best part of the app that makes it worthwhile? I remember using it a while back and ditched it as i cbf maintaining the settings

  • +5

Best Launcher I have used so far…

    • +1

I own it too, but Apex Pro is better.
Great thing about it, buy it once, use it on all your devices that you buy/upgrade for years to come.

  • One of the best launchers out there.

I haven't used it recently as it didn't play too nice with MIUI Android 11, and it's a bit buggy with ArrowOS (on my Poco).

Check if it works properly with your phone before buying, but if it does then highly recommend at this price.

I bought the license at full price a while back and it was well worth it. Heaps of options for customization.

    • +2

Not buggy at all on my poco X3 pro on aarow Os, been running it for most of the year

      • Probably the difference between the X3 NFC and X3 Pro.

It's fine for the most part, but especially when going back to the homescreen using gesture navigation it's a bit buggy I've felt. Doesn't feel as smooth as the stock launcher.

        • Your probably right. I haven't experienced anything at all with nova prime. Runs silky smooth

    • It played nicely on my Mi 11 when I had it

      • POCO LAUNCHER

      • Probably because it's more powerful than my X3.

It's weird though because it ran flawlessly on Android 10, but A11 it just doesn't want to work too well.

    • +1

Check if it works properly with your phone before buying, but if it does then highly recommend at this price.

Keep it anyway imo. If it doesn't work on the current phone, it might on the next one.

I bought it in 2013 and can bring it across to all my phones.

      • Same had it on many phones haven't experienced any issues at all.

I backup and carry over, and all the arrangements are spot on

  • +15

Used this for years to replicate Nexus/Pixel UI on HTC and LG devices.

Then realised life was too short, and switched to just buying Android One and Pixel devices to begin with.

  • +1

Been using it for years on a near-stock Android. Highly recommend.

  • I switched to iPhone this year, but prior to that I have been using Nova Launcher for 8 years. Great launcher.

  • how long is this sale on for?
(need to do more google surveys to bring my total to $1)

    • +1

      Ends in 7 days.

    • +5

Just pay the dollar. At this price, it's already 80% off. You will be using it everyday for years to come, and you can share it with everyone in your Family Library.

    • +4

Mate it's a dollar for one of the most popular launchers on the market. You'll manage to recover from this financial blow.

      • +1

Once docian saves up for the launcher, s/he has to start saving up for a phone to go with it.

        • +1

          That's a lot of surveys

  • +3

I just got my pixel 6 pro and still opted for nova launcher. Highly recommended.

    • +1

      how dare you

    • +1

me too i tried playing around with 12 but went back to nova

  • +2

I like Niagara launcher, but probably not that user friendly (especially when getting friends to find apps while I'm in the car).

    • +2

+1 Niagara. Yeah, it's a different style of launcher and takes a little time to get used to, and it's not for everyone. But I do recommend everyone give it a try. Its minimalist design and smart features may just win you over. I ended up buying the lifetime licence.

  • +10

I find Microsoft launcher very user-friendly.

    • +3

Yeah, it's free and does everything Nova Prime can do - plus I've found it's more responsive / less buggy than Nova.

      • +2

I have been using Nova for many years and have yet to experience a single bug

      • Tried Microsoft but couldn't figure out how to hide the Samsung apps. Nova allows it so I can put the Google apps instead

        • +1

You can hide apps easy in the Microsoft Launcher

in the app tray —> tap … —> tap hidden apps (shows a list of currently hidden apps —> tap hide apps … and pick all you want.

    • +1

I switched from Nova to Microsoft and never gone back. I think the simplicity of Microsoft was more appealing than the growing complexity of Nova.

  • +1

Nova is king, sadly a lot of manufacturers (Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo etc) dont allow 3rd party launchers with gestures on A11 (not sure about A12)

  • SmartLauncher has been my number one for many years and many phones. Super clean and simple home screen, automatically sorts all your apps into categories and your widgets are only a swipe away rather than spoiling the home screen.

  • +1

Was using this for years. Recently put it on my Moto G5 Plus, and it was working great until there was an upgrade to the OS to Android 11. Gestures don't work now, so it's either integrated gestures with stock launcher, OR Nova with bottom-screen navigation buttons.

    • My G8 started having its gesture bar glitching out when changing orientation after A11. It sticks to one side of the screen and stops working. Still like that to this day, it's happening right now.

  • This is an absolute must have, if you don't have it already.

  • +2

Doesnt play well with gestures, like any 3d party launcher.

    • I've never noticed any issues?

      • +2

        Then you dont use gestures.
No third party lancher works well without issues after android 10 with navigation gestures enabled. It's a global issue and there's no fix
There are huge issues like homescreen redraws, junky animations, skipped animations etc

        Nova's tweet about it
        https://twitter.com/nova_launcher/status/1391242630244220929

    • Yes it does.

      • lol i even shared their own tweet

        • -1

I've been using Nova on my Huawei Mate 10 since I got it, and using gestures since it was available on it (which I'm pretty sure, was before Google baked it into Android) and I've never noticed any problems.

  • Got the prime few years back, worth every penny.

No longer using as I'm used to samsung launcher. Does this support galaxy fold?

    • +1

As the years went on, I stopped using Nova. I used it on my S8, Note 9 and for a while on my Pixel 4 XL but then the stock launcher with Pixel ticked all the boxes of what I needed.

For the Fold, anything but One UI Home is pretty buggy in my experience.

  • For so many years this has been the go-to launcher by millions of Android users. I came to this deal knowing what the comments were all going to be :)

  • Personally not a fan of the recent major update, but currently running off the previous version and have been happy with it for years.

  • Thanks OP!

  • Used to be my go to . But I now find that Action Launcher has much better options and more useful features.

  • Been using for years, worth it even at full price. Only one annoyance, does anyone else not get the search bar when they swipe right for Google Now?

  • -3

not meaning to be a grinch but was watching a youtube video of the features and things you can do with this app. isn't super spectacular to persuade me to spend $0.99. Yeah that's right! I'm stingy down to the cent. what else would you expect from a guy looking on ozbargain for free stuff

    • huh?

    • +4

Google Opinion Rewards, you rack up enough Google credit to splurge on paid apps on Google Store.

  • Paid $6 for this many years ago, no regrets

  • +1

So why would I get something like this? I'm using a Samsung Galaxy, without a 3rd party launcher, and it seems ok to me. So, why?

    • +1

mostly for phones like Oppo, xiaomi, LG and Huawei which have horrible launchers.

    • Just more functionality and customisation options

      https://www.compsmag.com/blog/nova-launcher-vs-samsung-one-u…

    • I have a Galaxy phone. I was mostly happy with the launcher. I use Nova as I prefer a vertical app drawer. It's also nice to be able to hide some of the bloat on the phone.

      • I'm guessing it will require more battery to run this vs what I already have?

        • If you haven't already, Good Lock adds bunch of customisability including on Home UI (it's under Home Up app).

        • If so, negligible.

Today's use is 0.3% of the battery over ~9 hours.

    • How often do you change phones? I don't often do, but when I do, I want the same layout as my old one, and having a third party launcher that saves all my icon positions and groupings just saves me so much time. It also helps me identify which apps I have yet to install because they're greyed out.

Otherwise, I don't particularly find too much difference with using this or staying with the stock one.

  • +1

You definately need this if you've bought a Pixel phone and realise they havent bothered updating the crappy launcher anytime in the last 3 years.

    • And then you try to use gestures with it…..

      • +2

Agreed, Nova used to be great but changes to Android messed up the gestures and the Devs aren't able to fix it. Lawnchair is the best option these days imo, at least for Google phones.

        • +2

          +1lawnchair

  • Been using for 3+ years, I have it on all of my nearly all of my Android devices.

  • Wonder how this will go on the new Flip 3 everyone bought.

  • Bought prime ages ago but now enjoy lawnchair launcher more

  • I uninstalled Samsung launcher when I got the phone and using free version this for years now. What are the differences in the paid version?

    • +1

      From the Google Play Store;

      • Gestures: Swipe, pinch, double tap, and more on the home screen to execute custom commands.
      • App Drawer Groups: Create custom tabs or folders in the app drawer for an ultra-organized feel.
      • Hide Apps: Remove apps from the app drawer without uninstalling them.
      • Custom Icon Swipe Gestures: Assign swipe gestures to home screen icons or folders for custom actions.
      • …and more. More scrolling effects, unread counts, and others.

Worth it anyway, especially at this price.

      • +2

Yeah, just bought it to support the devs anyway :)

  • Had this for years, installed it on my last 3 (at least!) phones. I've reached the point where I can barely even use an Android device without it.

  • +2

Free if you use the google rewards from surveys :) thanks OP

    • any link for surveys ?

      • +4

You have to download the Google Opinion Rewards. Just run it and Google will send apprx 2-3 surveys a week.

        • +1

          Thanks a lot :)

        • Just run it and Google will send apprx 2-3 surveys a week.

Lucky, lol. I only ever get 2-3 a month. My brother gets heaps though.

          • @CrispyChrispy: It seems to me, the more you're out and about, the more surveys you get.

          • @CrispyChrispy: I think it's the Google Maps Timeline thing that gives you lot more surveys. At least most of the surveys that I've got were, have you been to "this store"? kinda of thing.

  • can this be used to achieve this:

with my samsung s21+, in game, i often use side swipe to achieve "go back" or "cancel" command, however on my samsung, i need to swipe once to bring the status top bar, then second swipe will be the actual action.

what frustrates me if the status bar is shown on top, a single swipe will do the trick.

can nova launcher achieve what i want to do here? a single side swipe to go back at any environment? my old xiaomi 2s has this as default.

    • If you look at Good Lock (which you can get via Galaxy Store app), there is an app called Home Up. There is an option to allow bottom gestures in full screen mode in that (under "Task Changer"). Try that?

      • thanks , i will try that now

edit: installed, and the only option i can see is "allow bottom gestures in full screen mode", when enabling it, seems doesn't work in game. still first swipe to bring the top status bar, then second swipe works.

        • Hmmm that's annoying. Sorry. I thought that option looked promising.

  • -5

    This is rubbish

  • Personally prefer Evie, but to each their own.

  • This is $0.18 if your account is linked to India (mine is for YT Premium). ₹10.00

  • +1

First thing i install. Worth it even at full price.

  • +1

just remembered i had this from ages ago, tried it on my new pixel 6 and find it much preferable to googles stock OS

  • Good for NVIDA shield? or Microsoft launcher?
