Seiko Presage Ginza Watch SSA445J $671.25 Delivered (was $895.00) @ Bevilles

110

Limited to 4000 pieces this the the latest of Seiko 2021 Presage release commemorating its 140 years history.

A more desirable watch would be the Alpinist version, however it is sold out.

The Ginza district in central Tokyo has a special importance for Seiko. It was where the company’s founder, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing clocks and watches in 1881, when he was just 21 years old and, today, Ginza is still where the company is located.

The Presage creation features the same cobblestone-inspired dial pattern and Komparu colour seconds hand, but the watch has the distinguished aspect of the recently released “Style60’s” design series inspired by the 1964 Seiko Crown Chronograph. The box-shaped glass, sharp hands and faceted indexes are inherited directly from the Crown Chronograph and create a retro feel that matches perfectly with the classic dial pattern. The opening at the 9 o’clock position allows the wearer to see and enjoy the beating of the escapement and the 24 hour sub-dial above it offers a different and useful way to tell the time.

Don't like the color? Same price from Myer for black open heart.

    Do something, Starbuy…

    • Sold out on Starbuy.

All these watch deals! I want to buy it but I just want one good watch and call it a day. I'm still saving up for that Grand Seiko spring drive…

    • +4

I think I'll be saving up for a spring drive for a very long time…

If you think you can one day afford it, just buy the watch you want. Don’t end up with others along the way because they will never (or very rarely) fill the void of what you really want

Limited edition Seiko do hold their value well but the exposed stuff on this won’t make it particularly popular with collectors

      • What do you mean by the exposed stuff? The open heart? Or is there something else I'm missing

        • the window that shows the movement

        • Yep open heart… the good ones have an exposed tourbillon. The cheap ones just have an exposed movement.

Seiko makes fantastic watches, esp in the presage line, but this one isn’t one of them

      • And after 20 years not knowing the time and missing appointments finally afforded a submariner

  • What a beautiful looking watch.

      You ok?

What did you smoke this morning?

  • Sorry a noob question but is this watch mechanical or quartz?

Been wanting an "expensive" watch for a while and this is probably in the range of stuff i can afford within my means

    • Mechanical movement 4R39 with 41 hours of power reserve.

    • -1

Automatic = mechanical (automatically charges as your arm swings around).

At this price I'd spend a little more (or less even) and get something like a Tissot.

      • +2

Strictly speaking, all automatic watches are mechanical but not all mechanical watches are automatic

        • -2

          gr8 m8

    • Mechanical - automatic (ie self winding) movement.

  • It looks a bit like a Speedmaster too.

    • +4

      Well they're both circular I guess…

      • and metal too!

  • +2

Yeah the open heart version is certainly the ugly duckling to the other Ginza.

  • Thanks OP, bought 100.

  • The alpinist one looks very good, this one looks OK but glass and movement are a let down https://youtu.be/DxyIzR4O4Pc
