Excellent phone for the price, I am using one right now.

The only downside is the camera quality but probably can't expect too much from a sub $300 phone.

For the camera, I have also tried different GCam variants but none of them works properly.

    • But the camera 108 MP, isn't that good?

      • +14

I think it's a huge misconception that more megapixels means good picture quality. In my opinion, a Google Pixel phone with 12 megapixel camera can take better photos than the one with 108 megapixel. It all comes down to software/algorithm than the hardware.

        https://teknikaldomain.me/post/megapixels-arent-everything/

There's a lot of different parts to a camera, including the size of the sensor, the lens, and the image processing.

the Megapixel count is just one spec of the camera sensor, you're not going to get the whole picture (pun intended) by just looking at the megapixel specification.

How is $387 (optimistically, probably more with international fees and stuff) sub $300?

  • this or the s21 5G with 6"2

    • +11

      Neither. Get tha Nokia 3210.

        where link?

        • It'll survive drops and the nuclear winter.

          • +3

@joshx: Yes but when Jonno borrows it to play Snake then gets it ripped out of his hand so that Ange can key in the midi ringtone for Ruff Ryders Anthem by DMX but that then sounds nothing like the mp3 file you have at the top of your carefully sorted winamp playlist, it will not survive confiscation by the acting vice principal, that absolute tosser.

When you get it back, the modded multicolour keypad will be glitched and not light up in the bottom corner keys, the * and #.

Where can you get the S21 5G for around $387.00?

      • -5

i bought it with trade in for $49x.

        only 100 more

        • +3

Yeah, only $100 more plus the trade on phone you had to give them…

Near impossible to find a recent phone nowadays that has all the functionality with good community root/custom ROM support. Only one I can think off is the Galaxy S10+.

    • Oneplus 9. Great custom ROM support. However, UK version with all Australian bands is way too expensive. I'm hoping for a significant price drop once the OnePlus 10 is announced next month.

    • Poco F3?

  • If I recall, camera has no optical image stabiliser? I think and it really hampers the image on an otherwise amazing phone. (hence me not buying one)

EIS on my Poco X3 Pro is surprisingly good; came from a phone prior that had OIS, and the EIS is really decent. Had my initial doubts too, but it's actually good.

Keen for Redmi note 11 pro if a deal was available.

      @slknv
Wait till the Redmi note 11 pro comes out Global version.
Current one is CN version so no google play.
Should be out sometime February from reports.

      • Good point - can't wait to get rid of this stupid motorola edge phone.

        • Which model if edge phone do you have? I intend to buy edge 20 fusion for my dad.

      • They adding OIS?

      • I just read is meant to launch January 6, but I'm not sure if it's globally or just in India.

      • What benefit does the Note 11 Pro have over the Note 10 Pro besides 5G and a useless 2MP telephoto camera? They got rid of the dedicated micro SD slot, switched to a Dimensity SoC, lowered the battery capacity from 5020mAh down to 4500mAh.

For alittle extra (+$60 last sale) you can get the S20FE 4G, which comes with 4-years of updates, 2-years local warranty, Dex, Knox and no CCP spyware.

    • +4

You also get a slightly smaller screen, plastic back, no dual-sim support, no headphone jack, no infrared port, no radio, a smaller battery and slower charging capabilities.

It is faster though, and yes, will probably have a better update schedule.

      • You also get a warranty. Goodluck trying to get support from a grey import from Xiaomi.

        • Where did you find a S20FE 4G for that price? All the deals I see here are 650+ bucks at best.

          • +1

@HigoChumbo: There were on sale a few weeks ago and keep coming back on sale. You can add the $50 Samsung newsletter voucher and this brought it down to $480ish from Samsung Australia

This or the Poco x3 or Poco F3 ?

  • How is this phone for Outlook, Slack and Teams mobile usage?

  • Based on banggood's review buying mobile from them is a bit concerning, anyone share the same feeling?
