I work at Coles Asquith NSW and while the sign does say take one, we have 10 crates still out the back and we need to get rid of them, so no one is gonna be mad if you take some extras. Merry Christmas everyone!

@jv: An average carrot is 25 calories, a big mac by comparison on average is 564 calories.
22 carrots on average = 1 big mac.
@jv: Once ate 2-2.5kg of carrots in a sitting, had a few bags in front of the TV and kinda smashed through them without thinking. Got pretty sick and wasn't too keen on having carrots for a month or so.
Think it was more the volume of food rather than the carrots that got to me though.

Coles Smith St, Fitzroy (Victoria) - the original Coles - was also doing something similar earlier this week.
The current Smith St store is only a few years old, the "original coles" was down the road at 288. They just went hard into advertising it as the original location as it is on the same street.

The manager was stocking carrots in crates, I asked the manager if I can take one of the crates, it was full. The manager was happy and said "go for it," Merry Christmas. Coles Amaroo (ACT) yesterday had a stack of crates with free reindeer carrots outside the serviced checkouts.
Nice! Wrong location for me but I recommend roasting carrots for anyone doing a Christmas roast and has the oven on already.
The Coles at Tweed City had these and also small bags of reindeer food (oats, sprinkles and magic)
