Cool story bro, what do you think of the house market whilst your at it ?

      • +2

A housing market is where everyone hoards and scalps. Not just gamers and miners. THE MOST horrible thing in Australia.

      • a fool and their money parted?

Have you seen the prices of GTX 1000/2000 cards? If you're going to pay $800 for a used 2070 I'd have a long hard think about the extra $600 for a 3070 ti, it's a significantly better and will hold value better.

The 3070 ti is a massive disappointment of a card, they could have given it a little more juice and made it any entry level 4K card, but at the same price as the 3070 it's a solid choice if you want to do any gaming in the next 6 months.

I wouldn't knock the 1000/2000 series suggestion necessarily, especially on the used market. If you're not going the prebuild route, it's just a price to performance equation so if a 3070ti is only 10-15% more than a 2080ti (?) That's the way to go, 20% or more, then probably the used card. Paying a bit more for a brand new card also has value versus the used lottery.

        • And who knows how much they are mined on.

          • @John Doh: You seen mining rigs? Guaranteed most miners take better care of their cards than most gamers.

            • @Jazza2400: I have seen several videos. Many do it very well. But not everyone. I know because my GTX 1080 is a mined card that I purchased second hand when the first mining bubble burst few years back. The heatsink was almost oxidised. I didnt return it to the seller becuase I got it pretty cheap and luckily it still works (just replaced the fans with case fans).

              • @John Doh: Can understand from that view point, casual miner probs didn't care much about maintenance. Miners wanna make sure their asset is in good condition so even tho it's running 24/7 it's usually in good temps and lesser power limit.

                • @Jazza2400: I totally get it. Most of the videos we see are from US and other developed nations where they maintained it so well. My card came from a huge mining chain from China and not casual miners. Atleast thats what the seller said. They probably didnt even have AC rooms and were just mined with windows open lol.

That was my thinking. $1400 for a 3070 ti is a rip off, but $800 for a 2060 is obscene

Graphic cards are in a bit of a bubble at the moment.

      • … and everything else .. cars, houses etc ..
And I'll wait rather than getting thrashed

8GB is definitely low for a card this caliber. Should have been atleast 10GB, the 3080 at 12GB minimum. nividia goofed up again like the 2GB and 3.5GB cards.

    • Just enough memory for most needs gets you buying again next gen.

    • Agree but enough to mine and pay itself off over time.

  • +1

FYI this card takes a 1x12 pin power connector.

    • +2

Adapter for 2x 8pin comes in the box

  • Should I mine on it or game on it?

    • Smash it with a hammer to pieces.

      • best idea

  • HODL

    • hold your balls
