Reviews aren’t exactly singing it’s praise

    • Links?

      • Check Amazon reviews in link posted in the op.

        Seems fine to me.

        • It has a lot of posts about the gas regulator requires fixing in order to get to a lower temperature without burning the food, can anyone suggest if it is something hard to do ? Would like to get one if the regulator is not hard to buy or fix.

i’ve had no issues with temp control, easy to turn temperature down , i own one …..only down side is as standard it has connection for disposable gas bottles, hose to make it work with POS cyclinders e.g 9kg refillable cyclinders swap n go is about another $35 at BCF or anaconda ….once you have a cheap gas supply, it cooks better than many larger bbqs , it’s infrared so can cook thick steaks and no flare-ups ….. or greasy sausages with no flare ups.

@garage sale: It says bonus 9kg bottle hose, would that be all that's needed to connect to a cylinder? There's no disc shaped metal thing at the end of the hose like the one on my Weber. Sorry I'm clueless with these things. Thanks.

          • @garage sale: Its says it comes with a bonus hose, does it mean we have to buy the regulator ? Is the regulator the same one as what we use for the 9kg LPG bottle ??

    Which one is better
    Coles one vs Catch

the catch one is an infra red bbq ….. the bbq galore infra red bbqs are about $1000 for a 2 burner ….

  • Can this be connected to an outdoor earth gas tap and run on that gas? I understand it may require some adaptors.

    • I'd be really surprised if anyone on here even owns one of these machines. Hopefully though.

      • Actually, it's hard to tell what's so special about that bbq.

Marketing dept must have worked their bums off, you can tell that by the "infrared technology" or a glorified piezo starter.

I wouldn't buy that without seeing it first - perhaps it's a quality build. Perhaps.

to run off natural gas you would need to re-jet ….. and you would need to adapt the hose for natural gas adapter and regulator …… you wouldn’t see change from $120, just get the coleman to POS adapter for $35 and use 9kg bottle.. once you have owned an infra red bbq, others are just inferior , bbq galore have an infra red bbq but it’s expensive….. popular in USA but not many in the australian market …… had a charbroil infrared from the masters days …… lasted 10 years and i was using at least 2 times per week to cook thick 350 gram eye fillets and 400 gram porterhouse steaks ….. infra red does 50mm thick steaks without drying out, replaced it with another charbroil infrared …… the 2 burner ones are about $600 ….

google infra red radiation vs convection (warm air)

Took your advise and bought one. Hopefully is good and easy to get an adaptor to hose conversion.

        Thanks OP.

      • It says to come with 9kg gas cylinder hose. Do we need to buy adapter to use 9kg cylinder? Sorry noob question. Thanks

  • Decide to grab one to try out.

For ~$60 after cash back, I’ll be happy if it works. Plenty of reviewers rave about how great theirs is, so I think there’s a fair chance this will be a winner.

This is the regulator to control the temperature better - https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B000DZKZLQ/ref=ppx_yo_d…

      I would say yes.
Cast aluminium vs powder coated steel.
      Pre assembled vs build yourself.
The gasmate has a larger cooking area and higher BTU`s 12 vs 9 and has bigger vent holes at the back so more heat loss.
Also looks to have small drip tray with large holes at the bottom so maybe messier cleanup afterwards ?
      Looking at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOzLAfL-5_I
I would think the Grill2go looks sturdier for camping.

  • Just another noob question, can we use this bbq with standard gas cylinder we purchased from gas station or need a. Special accessories? Thanks

    • +1

It's got the bonus 9kg hose added in this sale

      • Ah ok, i wasn't sure if that can be used for gas cylinder we purchase from gas station. Thanks

Received the bonus hose today (shipped separately, the actual grill still on the way).
    The hose is this https://www.gasmate.com.au/accessories/gas-hoses-fittings/ad…
Saw a setup and review video of the grill on youtube, which shows it comes with a regulator. https://youtu.be/YzclXtPOz64
So basically set up the grill, connect the hose to the gas bottle, and Bob's your uncle.

    • Did you set it up ? If yes, how was it ?

      • I have just tried mine today and it is very windy. I think the flame gone out a couple of times.

It gets really hot real quick. Might have trouble to lower the temperature even turning down to the lowest, but will test it out again on a day which is not so windy. I am no expert in barbie.

What is the best way to clean it? I tried burning it to ashes and scrape with a brush. Then, I applied oil over the grate using paper towel. Obviously the paper towel is black as tar.

  • Has anyone else got this set-up already ? I just got the hose delivered this arvo in WA . Received the bbq last week. Anyone added any regulator to it ?

    • I have received but not setup yet.
My understanding is that the regulator is already attached to the bbq. It's part of the gas control for the bbq. So all you will need to do is run hose from bottle directly to bbq.
