Bonus $500 The Good Guys eGift Card with Telstra $69/Month 12-Month 80GB 5G Plan (Port-in Only, in-Store Only) @ The Good Guys

890

Hi all,

First post so please don't roast me!

Just ported in my number to Telstra @ The Good Guys Maribynong today.

$69 plan for 12 months port in (minimum cost $828). Bonus $500 eGift card (eGift card bonus increased from $300 value). 60GB per month data with bonus 20GB per month for 12 months (80GB total for the first year).

Not sure if this is store specific (Did not ask)

I'm 99% certain I saw the promotion ending on the 30/12 when he was selecting the offer.

Did not ask about port-in $10 credit from telstra.

Just wanted to let you guys know!

    Hopefully this is enough proof!

Ouch forgot to mention in post, store rep said they should be adding 20GB data as part of promotion. So it should be 80gb p/m data

    • are you sure 5G network included?

      • Hey mate,

These are the offers they have. I signed up with the $69 one which includes 5G network!

yes, this is actually the same offer as the JB Hi Fi one, 5G and extra 20GB, total of 80GB per month

    • was the gift card forwarded to your via email? or did they give you a hardcopy too?

    • +9

Not convinced. Please post card number and pin to confirm.

      • or just pm me and I'll verify it for them

    Great work OP.

Donโ€™t worry about being roasted, itโ€™s the OzB way ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

  • On tgg they do have $500 bonus giftcard but is for 24mths with 150Gb , there is also $400 giftcard for 12mths with bonus 20Gb. They both end 05/01.
All info are from https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/telstra-mobile-and-broadband-โ€ฆ under latest Telstra deals

    • Hey @daiwai

Pretty much same deal as $400, but $500 for next few days if you ask for it!

  • Same as JB offer…
Take your pick of gift card stores. ๐Ÿ‘

    • Definitely. I'm more inclined with JB, just because their price matching policy is better.

TGG somehow has a slightly higher "cost" price that they don't go below.

I've tried price matching a washing machine, a phone and a television, all unsuccessful at TGG but got it at JB.

I believe the horses come first ๐Ÿค”

I'm the opposite. I've always found TGG to come to the party. Usually depends on salesperson though.
But we signed up with JB today anyway.

        • Indeed. My local TGG always cheaper and easier to deal with than JB. Salesperson/store dependency

    • JB Offer is 80GB not 60GB
Edit: Just saw both are 60GB + 20GB bonus

  • Why does it say $300 in the t&cs?

    • T&Cs pdf not updated, but it does say $400 on their page. No doubt they're matching JB today. As for tomorrow???

Haha sorry, couldn't find it on the site, so I posted in the comments of the eGift card as proof :)

  • Doesn't include current Boost customers.

    • Or Belong…

  • I just checked and Telstra have 5g coverage in my area while my current provider don't. Tempted to switch over myself and the missus.

  • Any minimum port out period? I'm on belong and wondering if the old port-out, port-back trick still works or if there's a minimum port-out period now?

    • +1

I think belong and boost are excluded as theyโ€™re Telstra

      • for sure - last time though I ported out to Optus for all of about two hours, then ported back in ;)
wondering if that still works or if they've wised up to that trick now.

        • I've done this in the last 12 months, and completed the port out and JB signup within 2hrs, after buying a prepaid SIM to port out to.

          • @kongkurr: Many have said this too. But everytime I go in, the store person says I need at least a month.
Others have claimed they been successful with a day or two of being ported out as long as it crosses into a new billing period.

    • Curious to know too, looking to get an Optus $2 sim to port out and port back in if possible

  • Is the $500 gift card offer still available at jb or TGG today?

    • Yes. Just got a $500 e-giftcard from TGG 30 mins ago

  • Weren't all these plans $59 last year ? I don't see the deal here.

  • +1

Can confirm with OP that offer ends 30/12/2021.

  • Ported in yesterday from a Vodaphone prepaid sim I got last month, I was unable to recharge to activate and called late night and they sent an activation request to the team which activated my sim without paying for a recharge, so just the initial $2 sim pack from Officeworks.
Just got on the telstra app and requested a callback which was under 30 seconds wait and they cancelled my out of contract plan and ported the number over for me on about 10 mins ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘Œ

  • International calling? Anyone

    • Unfortunately not. You can add a package but knowing Telstra it'll be the cost of your plan.

      • I was told international calling pack cannot be added to this plan. Was anyone successful in doing this?

  • Thanks OP!
Just ported in and got the 20GB bonus data (80gb total) as well.

  • has anyone had any luck porting in under 30 days in Sydney stores? Most have been firm on the 30 day policy, and one was keen but had no stock unfortunately.

  • To clarify for some:
I bought a Pixel 6 Pro at JB (Brisbane store) 2 weeks back, $500 off instantly, no work required from my end, on the $69/mth plan for 12 months lockin, 60+20GB.

If you go for the $100/mth 200GB plan, they'll also give you $1300 off a pixel phone (I don't remember if they said it's $1300 off all phones).

As for the porting, my number was deactivated from Optus and reactivated on Telstra in a matter of seconds, and all the billing in-app was there instantly.

    All in all, wonderful process!

  • Ported over yesterday at TGG in Brisbane from Aldi, received gift card and $10 off per month until recontract today, just say you were told by the store rep to contact Telstra after plan activation to have it added to your account.

  • I was told the port-in credits are not available currently? Did anyone else faced the same issue?

    • Who told you that… GG or Telstra? FYI, I got $10 port in credit for 12mths for three plans yesterday via Telstra chat.

      • I've been trying for 3 days with no luck.

      • Good Guys store rep. Will try telstra chat.

  • Thanks, OP. I signed up in-store on Tuesday but unfortunately, the Telstra system crashed so they had to raise a ticket with Telstra to complete it. Finally became active on Thursday but still haven't received my gift card. I've already called and they said it should come yesterday but it didn't. I'll give it until Monday before harassing them again. But annoying.

I was also able to get the $10 discount with Telstra by saying that the rep said I can blah blah. Got it the first time I tried too. Happy to share exactly what I said if it will help anyone.

    • Thanks can you share what you said?

      • +1

Try something in line with this: "I joined Telstra in a Good guys store on Tuesday. The in-store rep who signed me up mentioned I could apply for a $10/month welcome port-in credit. Would you be able to help me with this? "

  • Was anyone successful in adding the international calling pack? I was told by GG and on Telstra chat that this cannot be added to this plan even with additional payment.
