Hi, I've been checking things out on ozbargain for a while but never joined until now. I grabbed one of these last night as a spare and since the deal is still on thought I'd post it. No expiry date published that I can find but probably a Boxing day sale deal (?) so I expect won't last long. Shipping is free but faster if you have Prime.
Hope this helps someone and that I met all the guidelines (whew!) :) Not affiliated with amazon in any way.
[Update] I forgot to mention, the same page also has the bundle with 2 x HRM straps for $432.10.

    Same price at Rebel

Yeah nah, better grab the Fenix if it ever goes down!

  • Got this from rebel at this price Black Friday. Nice and light got it for swimming only to read booklet saying HR doesn’t work in water without HRM.

Released in March 2017 so close to 4 years old tech. 955 expected to be announced early next year.

Have a 945, they just released the 945 LTE so the 955 might take longer than you'd expect.

For $300, if you can find a better deal sure, but otherwise it's a bargain I think? Oh right that's the website we're on…

    • Close to 5 years. A good watch but a bit long in the tooth. I’ve worn it everyday since April 2017. Since replaced by the 945 and 945LTE (not a full refresh).

        What's the battery like now?

  • Have a read but I promptly returned mine when I realised just how average/old this device was.
If you are using it pruely for running it's not bad but equally if you're serious enough to drop $300 on a watch better off dropping $500 on something much better.
I found this was accurate for distance but the HRM and altimeter were not that good.

    • What would you get for 500?

      • What are you planning to use the watch for?

        • Hi, I was just curious as to what @drprox recommends at 500. The 935 works well for me, I use it for swimming laps (with an HRM) and walking.

@Mostly Fanless: Hey mate I grabbed a coros apex. They aren't for everyone as aren't smart however for running (particularly approaching/surpassing ultra distance) they are tops for battery life and the altimeter/barometer are awesome. Software is simple and clean without bloat. Hrm solid but for some reason generally takes 10 mins to get a proper sync then it's golden :)

Build quality also good with use of titanium and saphire crystal.

So if you're a pure runner and not tied to the Garmin ecosystem worth a look.

          • @Mostly Fanless: Hows the 935 with lap swimming. (Have you tried indoors and outdoor pools?) Do you use HRM-Swim or Tri?

I've only ever used my 935 for running. (Haven't been for a swim for 4+ years haha!)

            • @gimli: Hi, it works well for me, I use it in an outdoor pool with an HRM-swim. The HRM-Tri works but is not as sticky. It used to miscount laps sometimes but it's been good recently so I think my stroke has improved - the counting is somehow done based on strokes, the GPS isn't on. Although this season has been pretty spotty due to the weather…

              • @Mostly Fanless: Great that's helpful to know. I have HRM-Tri so might give it a go one day.

                Thanks

      • Just get the 945. It's 499 at rebel atm. Youll get mapping, music, NFC, better GPS. Can't really go wrong. I've had Garmin's for over 10 years. They are good devices and their customer service are good too (albeit slow atm)

I've had 935 for 3+ years and have found it flawless. Only issues was watch band need replacement after 2 years and was easy to find a cheap replacement band online.

Not sure about altitude as I don't do alot of hikes/trail running but elevation measures seem reasonable. (Matches what I would expect for roads I'm running on). The heart rate is surprisingly accurate if you where the watch well. (Tight fit so it can't move). The heart rates seems to match what I get from a chest straps. However, there is an obvious lag (~20-30sec) when doing interval work.

I use the 935 for running only. Its obviously overkill as it is a triathlon watch. It has very good battery life which might be useful to some.
But if you are looking for something purely for running I would look at the garmin 245 or non-garmins (e.g. Coros Pace 2). There are a few excellent running watches at the $300 or cheaper price point.

  • I marked this expired last night as it went up to 479, but today it's back at 299. Delivery still free, Prime 30 Dec otherwise 12 Jan.

    • Back to 479. I'll leave it marked expired this time :)

Shows as 299 for me right now.

        • It's the weirdest thing, it seems it's only on during the day…!
