OP, can you find us some cheaper binoculars

  • Would these be good for planet viewing? Been wanting to get into astronomy but don't want to commit to a telescope yet.

    • I am no expert but am looking for a 10km daytime binoculars for the farm. From my findings the CELESTRON Binoculars are better for star gazing.

I would think the answer is more no than yes. You are unlikely to see Jupiter's moons or even Saturn's rings (certainly not clearly). For moon watching they would do ok.

You need a stand for binoculars for viewing Jupiter's 4 moons or Saturn's rings bulge. Binoculars have added benefits of portability and terrestrial use against telescopes. If I was aiming to buy something which can be used for both astronomy and terrestrial viewing, I would definitely go with binoculars with big apertures and a stand. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11555941/redir is a good recommendation.

      • I was actually curious about trying to see the planets at night because recently I've noticed a very bright planet next to the moon at night.

      • Looks great

  • Planet viewing? Get real.I lived in Africa for a couple of years and spent a lot of time in the many Game Reserves there. These 10x50's are my pick for Game viewing.

  • Any idea whether they are good for whale watching? I bough one few years back based on Amazon users recommendations, but I find it too shaky unless I mount it on a stable platform.
