Video Pro have been on here numerous times (I believe they have a rep even) and the response has generally been very positive. Staticice suggests this is a very good price, with second best being $140.

  • Why do we need this if we already have built in webcam in our laptops?

    • -facepalm-
desktops, comes with a mic also which desktops dont usually come with.

      • Also this is HD. I doubt your 1.3/2mp laptop webcam can output 720P.

        • LOL, WOW just WOW

        • lulwut? I agree with zomg… wow… just wow…

(protip: the p in both of those numbers both stand for pixel)

        • Sorry, i meant decent 720p. A photo sensor made for a 1.3mp laptop webcam is going to be inferior to a specialised cam.

      Who said it's for laptops?

It's actually designed for Bravia Smart TVs.

      • -2

OK I will have to buy a Bravia Smart TV first.

    • Well so that I can see tv with subs and can still talk to girlfriend like I'm watching her instead of tv ??

He has a point. Just hookup your laptop the TV and use it that way. IMO it's not worth $98 for a slight reduction in inconvenience.

  • +1

$98 seems pretty steep for a webcam.

Who has a fast enough connection (at both ends) to Skype in HD anyway ?

  • What models does it work on?

  • Sony is giving this away for free when you purchase a TV.

Anyone been able to find any actual product specs? I had a look around and only found very vague so I'm guessing it would be pretty pointless on a PC, especially with many alternatives out there.

    • Agreed this is pointless for a PC even if it can be used with a desktop. For less price you can get a smaller/more convenient sized webcam with more features incl 720P and built-in mic. You can probably get a Kinect for PC for this price in the near future.

    Tempting.

You guys talking about laptops obviously don't get it. It's for your parents or grandparents assuming you've been nice enough to connect their Sony telly to their NBN-connected network and set up their skype account.
