I sliced off a small chunk of my thumb cutting onions, they really are sharp.
That's why you use a pinch grip or combo grip and tuck your fingers under your knuckles.

I did cut tge tip of my finger off though, pretty painful nerve endings, so they're sharp! Ideal for tomatoes and certain flesh.
