Saw someone mention this on Whirlpool, so I decided to check it out myself. They're PC only, so they're no good for Xbox or PS3 users. I don't know how good these are sound-wise, but TDK is a good brand and $5 isn't a lot of money, so even if they're absolute rubbish, it's no big loss. They'd be more that good enough for Skype/Msn.

It's my first bargain submitted here so be nice. Please don't start a Dick Smith flame war or anything.

Edit: Turns out that Dick Smith have started their online sale a day early, so there's a whole heap of discounted games as well.

Thanks for the heads up on the rolling sale at DS OP. I just went in (vic gardens) and they had more gaming titles on special, though very limited. Picked up Uncharted 1 & 2 collectors pack for $7!! Also got Medal of Honor ($3.5) and Fracture ($2) for the hell of it. So that's 4 PS3 games for $12.50. Sort of makes up for missing out on everything last week.

      Im using the laptop atm, so theres only 1 plugin. The buzzing stops immediately when I pull out the usb. Maybe wiring problem or something?

  It is very sensitive to power supply noise, in this case it pickup the humming noise from the USB. Try using 2 AAA and the powerpack. However with the powerpack, the bass is softer and will crack when volume almost to the higher end.
  
  I will open one and check if there is space to have a small hack to filter off the power noise.

    Just tried using the powerpack, the noise disappears and bass is a lot softer, would prefer not have to go through tons of batteries though!
    
    I also tried plugging the SPK plug into the ipod and usb into the laptop - no noise at all!
    Havent used the microphone yet, but noise still exist whether it is plugged into the laptop or not (when SPK + usb plugged into laptop).
    
    Other than that, amazing headphones for $5. Thanks OP.

  I just got mine delivered, I noticed the same problem, but having it plugged into laptop USB and iPhone headphone socket no noise, even when not playing anything.
  
  So its a little disappointing on that aspect but then i didn't get it for the vibration feature.

I grabbed a pair of these this morning in store, i didnt know what to expect but they are awesome. especially for $5.

There were heaps at the store i went to, i should have bought another couple as backups.

You can use them without the usb plugged in so they can be used with ipods, etc.

the vibration makes the bass amazing.

    Basically it's that. you feel the low and bass-y sounds vibrating on your ears. I am finding it very awkward, but whatever - it's just a feature I won't use! USB/Battery power is only required if you want the vibrating thing btw, so you can happily leave power disconnected if you only want actual sound :P

Yup, mine arrived today as well - wow a LOT of headphone for even $50 let alone a tenth of that. Had to be a pricing error as surely the postage alone would have cost them more than $5 per unit. So out the back into the bin would have been a better financial result for DSE.

If you're not wanting the vibration definitely remove BOTH the USB and powerpack - you don't need them for normal use and you'll significantly reduce the 'feedback'/static sound you can otherwise get.

Sensational buy indeed - can imagine a lot of them will be hitting Ebay. :-/
