Very high quality German made angled flush cutters, great for electronics work, jewelry, hobby models etc.

64 HRC hardness, extremely hard steel so they keep their edge for longer but don't use it for prying/twisting things because you'll chip or snap them.

  • Thanks, needed some flushies.

  • Will it work well for snipping excess legs from a PCB after soldering?

    • +2

I would imagine so - they're exactly what they are built for (being flush cutters and all).

      • Thanks, bought

    • Yep, it's what I use them for. I have some cheapie "Pros's Kit" $10 ones that I've been using for years, the two blades don't quite line up properly anymore. Have been wanting to upgrade for a while and came across these.

    • When I was an apprentice my boss always said to cut the legs off before soldering haha. But it’s easier to do it after. He never had to revisit his jobs tho 😇

      • OMG maybe in NASA they do that hehe

  • Nabbed one, thanks!

  • Great over priced toe nail cutters .

    • +1

      I thought I was the only one…

      • Actually, they are pretty bad. And I'm telling you this from experience. Sometimes I'm too lazy to find the proper ones and use these ones as they are behind me in my tool chest in my office.

They cut too straight and it's really hard to round the cuts. On the big nail you end up with something that looks like a 50c piece. And the other toes get too close. The little toe nail just doesn't cut. Maybe I should try my Knipex CoBolts on them… Or maybe not, I need my toe.

I used side cutters until I bought these from a previous deal.
          Recommend for $10

    Bought.

For that price you got a bargain

I still cherish and baby my lindstrom 80 series

Knipex 78 71 125 Esd Electronic Super Knips Esd Burnished 125 mm

    • What's ESD?

      • Electro-Static Discharge safe tools.

    • Thanks, prefer these over the standard and that price is really good!

Anyone use these for pulling teeth?

  • Thanks. Been after some of these for a while.

    • +3

      Same brand?

      • -5

There are 1000s of brands to choose from. All made in the same factory in Japan usually.

Tried to link above and it said it was affiliate link and not sure if I can post ecig websites.

I've had the same pair since 2011 and still going strong!

        • +2

No, they will be made in China and are garbage for using for electronic work if that is what you need them for (their original purpose)

        • +11

Sorry mate, you clearly have no idea what you are on about. 1000s of brands, all made in Japan, $4. hell give me those brands, you must be on to some quality stuff right there, just like Knipex which is made in Germany.

    • +5

have you been sniffing too much soldering fume? please link me some Japanese made side cutters for $4 … let alone 1000 of them

    • +5

With all due respect sir, you have no idea what you're talking about. If you had used any knipex tools you would know better. Knipex is made in Germany.

    • -4

i'm with you. had a couple of pairs of the cheapies. Lost the first pair, second pair had at least a few years. Both perfectly aligned, sharp, and pleasure to use. Can't see what a $30 pair could offer on top of the cheapies.

      • +1

They offer the cache with the people that see you work that you are using a knipex of course. And also saves people ever worrying about buying a dud. They feel nice too.

I won't argue with the quality of these tools, it's all there, but the prices, especially the retail, are hard to jump over. These aren't even professional tools for most people because there's not as many professional electronics people around any more, they are luxury hobby items for most

  • Damn, out of stock!

Then get the esd ones 👆, these are usually circa $38 on amazon, knipex are great for snippy and clampy things. Lots of love for this particular deal, must be lots of electronics nerds on ozbargain. Personally I would prioritise other knipex such as 240 pliers, 200 side cutters and pliers wrenches.

  • Are these suitable for cutting thin copper wires? Or any other recommendations?

    • +2

says 1.6mm Cu on the handles

  • +1

I use the pliers that NorthridgeFix uses, they are called Best-109 pliers, cost me $9. Been using them for almost 7 years now, work fine for me. KNIPEX might be the best pliers out there but unless you're working with electronics all day you don't need it.

  • Spewin, missed the boat.

    Maybe next time..

    +1 for OP..

  • Need the Knipex adjustable pliers on sale

  • +1

or get fujiya cutters which perform similarly to knipex at a cheaper price point

    https://www.amazon.com.au/No-60S-125mm-60S-125-125MM/dp/B000…
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Fujiya-GPN-150FS-Plastic-Cutting-C…

I have the plastic flush cutters and they are very sharp though I have only bought them recently so no idea how long they will remain sharp, but given this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BQEy8jt47g (yes it's normal pliers but you can get an idea) they seem to have very hard cutting surfaces so can probably handle some abuse.

    • Not really that much cheaper, do they ever go on sale?

      • It is cheaper than the RRP I mean, not compared with discount pricing. AFAIK the fujiyas only got recently listed on Amazon AU.

I've been working in electronics for over 15 years. Knipex, Hakko, Lindstrom are all excellent but you pay for them. I actually really like the cheap $10 Duratech sidies from JayCar. Cheap, sharp, flush and hold up quite well.
