If only Vodafone coverage was good in my area, maybe should try a 30 day pack first

    • -1

Good deal if you living next to a Vodafone tower.

    • +1

Why would you, when you are already suggesting it's not good in your area?
If you are unsure, check Vodafone tower locations here: https://www.rfnsa.com.au

      • +1

Most of us don't work, sleep, shop, holiday and shit in same location. That location site doesn't do much, according to that I'm 1km away yet I'm only getting one bar if I'm lucky. Always try a 30 day pack before 365 days of horror.

    • Do you really need a full 200GB? Coles has its 120gb plan for $119.
      https://colesmobile.com.au/Mobile-Plans

I've been on it for 6months and have used like 6gb….do ya'll not have internet at home?

  • +1

Pretty no stock anywhere in Melbourne…would have been a good price to get as my son's yearly prepaid is running out next month.

  • +2

    Does vodafone provide wifi calling?

Update: it does, just confirmed. Bought, thanks OP

  • +18

Yep Wifi Calling, VoLTE, 5G SA, Call over 5G everything works on a Pixel 6 Pro . On top of that e-sim support. I would say the best prepaid offering in quite a while. Only downer no international calls

    • +6

yeah I don't understand why they keep international calls for a lower price plans but cancel that function with the most expensive one.

      • +2

Its the cheapest price per month/duration plan, its a 12M pack but cheapest $/day

      • This isn't the most expensive, charliechao, that's why they don't give you international calls, this plan works out to $10.42/month for 16.66GB/month. That is extremely cheap.
30-day Vodafone plans don't provide that sort of value.

        • Thanks for the maths! make sense now

  • +1

It was out of stock at most Officeworks the last time it appeared here. Still is.

    • +3

Got one from Aspley Queensland. Available at around 10 different stores near me

      • Is it the same packaging as the one posted, or without the "200GB" part?

    • Yep. Same

    • Yep OOS in Melbourne and surrounds.

    • 4000 has heaps of stock

  • +2

Seems like boost is one of the last few that include international calls.

  • +1

    this has 5G right?

  • Same offer from Kogan but $5 expensive. But you can use Commonwealth Bank/Kogan offer ( Spend $100 Get $20 Back Expiry 12th Jan). 2% Cash Back Cashrewards. Plus $5 off First Purchase over $100.

    https://www.kogan.com/au/kogan-mobile/?deals_from=kogan&disp…

    • +4

      no 5G though

      • +2

        What he said ∆

        • +3

No esim, no visual voicemail (for iPhone) either

    • +3

Kogan doesn't have 5G, doesn't have VoLTE, doesn't have VoWiFi, doesn't have eSIM, doesn't have visual VM.
Vodafone itself does, even on prepaid/PAYG :)

      • Only correction to that, Kogan does have visual voice mail access. Still it’s well worth Vodafone Prepaid directly over Kogan if you get this deal.

        • I've never managed to get this to work on an iPhone. As soon as I ported to Vodafone it worked perfectly. Perhaps that has changed?
edit: Someone above has said the same.

    • I’d pay $50 more to avoid kogan. Was a nightmare porting in and porting out when I was stupid enough to give them a go.

  • When is the expiry dates?

    • Reports from last deal was 365 days expiry
      (Both activation and for use)

      • nvm…different prepaid offer

    • +2

Bonus Data: One-off bonus 50GB data available to ‘Eligible customers’ who purchase $250 Prepaid Plus starter pack (150GB included, total 200GB) and activate within 60 days of purchase.

      • It appears this Officeworks package is different to the one directly at Vodafone. There is no mention in the Officeworks T&Cs about 60 days activation. It only mentions 1yr from purchase

  • Got 1 in Penrith cheers OP

  • Would this sim work as a data sim?

  • +1

Do you have to get the pack with the pictures on it to get this deal? Last time I went to an officeworks with this deal, the stack of packaging had an older cover without the 200 GB on it. Didn't buy it but would have thought that the system would have activate the 365 day deal the same way. Though would like to be sure.

Vodafone in our area is not strong but if it has Wi-Fi calling should be fine in our house.

FWIW, Vodafone with Kogan was hopeless when we travelled up to the Whitsundays recently, data was non existent in Airlie Beach and also on Daydream island (no reception for voice even). Boost Telstra was fine.

    • +1

Of course, you pay for that larger network if you need it, that's why Vodafone has much better offers than Boost/Telstra.
Telstra obviously needs to recoup all that money they've spent on towers in areas with low usage.
I rarely use my phone anywhere that Vodafone doesn't have coverage so it's the best choice for me, for others that travel to lower populated areas it won't be suitable.

      • All true with regards to cost, although before we went, we checked the coverage map and Vodafone indicated that it had reception coverage in those areas. 2 Vodafone/Kogan phones did not work at all. One of the two had a 2nd sim with Belong/Telstra and that was fine, so it's not the phone. 2 other phones with Boost/Telstra was fine also.

We have the Vodafone/Kogan accounts for the kids in Brisbane, but will always keep at least one Boost/Telstra account for travel purposes (or I suppose before you go, you can always buy a Belong or similar short term sim for travel purposes)

        • Because in low populated areas, Vodafone may have 1 tower and Telstra may have 3 towers (as an example - but very common) so Telstra coverage will be wider in that area. If you're close to the Vodafone tower, however, coverage will be perfect (mobile network maps are only estimates, but it doesn't indicate a tower in that area).
You can check exact tower locations for each of the 3 networks here: https://www.rfnsa.com.au
Yep, a belong starter kit, which is usually on sale is another option if you are heading to one of those areas :)

          • @SimAus007: Interesting website link. Thanks for that.

However, putting Airlie beach into it showed there is a tower nearby which support Optus/Vodafone. Can't see a tower for Telstra at all, where is its signal coming from?

Why the poor performance (we stayed near the Port of Airlie) with Vodafone?

PS NVM - just found the box for nearby sites. will check it out-can see Telstra towers now, though at Shute Harbour, there are towers for all carriers located at the same hill. Why such differences in Vodafone/telstra on Daydream Island?

            • @x d: I can see 5 Telstra towers within 5 kms of Airlie Beach, 1 for Vodafone.

Also, Telstra operates on a different frequency in that area to the Vodafone one, so it depends on the handset you have.

I can import a phone which will work perfectly fine on Vodafone frequencies but not Telstra and vice versa.

Telstra in this area works on 700MHz, 1800MHz, 2600MHz
Vodafone in this area works on 850MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz

What phone do you have and where did you get it from?
I'd ask for an address, but we can't do that on here :)

              • @SimAus007: There was definitely something wrong with the Vodafone service at Airlie Beach. Looks like the nearest tower with Vodafone for us is at 2489 SHUTE HARBOUR RD MANDALAY QLD 4802, and another one Off Kara Cres. Shingle Beach Hill Airlie Beach QLD 4802, both within 1-2 km from where we were staying.

The two handsets that had the Vodafone/Kogan sims both did not work at all to supply data (Realme C12s from Aus with FDD-LTE: Bands 1/3/5/7/8/20/28), yet one of the two with the Belong/Telstra 2nd sim was fine and so they were tethered to that we were out of our accommodation (both work fine with Vodafone/Kogan now back in Brisbane). Our two Samsung S20 FE 5G with Boost were fine everywhere.

EDIT - didn't try to bring the Vodafone sim to the Samsung unit though.

            • +1

@x d: BTW Vodafone has zero towers on Daydream Island, click on their listing, no frequencies listed so there is no active Vodafone tower there (only planned)
It's Optus and Telstra only for Daydream island.
There is weak Vodafone coverage on Daydream Island that is coming from over the water at Green Point, but that will be very hit and miss, if at all.

              • @SimAus007: But there are no Telstra towers on Daydream island either according to the rfnsa website. The nearest towers for both Vodafone and Telstra appears to be at Mt Rooper 5.4 km away from Daydream Island. That should be close enough I would have thought?

                • @x d: Did you bring up the map? There are definitely Telstra and Optus towers on Daydream Island.

Optus is located at: Daydream Island Central Centre walking track WHITSUNDAYS QLD (right in the centre of the island)

Telstra is located at: LOT 287 Plan HR1740 DAYDREAM ISLAND RD WHITSUNDAYS QLD (Daydream Island Resort end of the island, near Lovers Cove)

Vodafone plans to install a tower on the same site at Optus in the future.

                  • @SimAus007: You're right. Initially I had the map with airlie beach and moving over to Daydream Island it didn't show any towers (or the map failed to update). In any case typing in Daydream Island now shows the 2 towers so my apologies and that explains it.

Still how to explain Vodafone's issues at Airlie Beach?

                    • @x d: The only reason you wouldn't get coverage in Airlie Beach is:
                      1) too far from the Vodafone tower
                      2) hill between you and the tower
                      3) tower was out of service at the time (planned or unplanned outage)

    • I too saw the one without mentioning of "200GB" in the package, it simply said $250 Vodafone Starter pack, I too would like to know if it's the same

      • Only packs I can see in store do not mention 200GB, just state $250 sim starter pack. Not sure if it is all interchangeable or not.

  • So i can buy this now and activate in 10 months time?

    • +2

Yes. I bought it a month before. I will be activating after 3 mths.

    • -2

      nvm…different prepaid offer

  • +3

WW has 10% off your grocery shop each month though. That extra 6% discount (compared to the common 4% off via gift cards) for me at least results in nearly $100 'profit' after 12 months.

    • Or you could just shop at aldi and save money that way

      • +1

How does that work when you walk out with a Tele you never needed?

        • +1

          It's called self-control, Fancydancer ;)

      • +6

When they have a decent online shopping experience and home delivery that is on par with Woolies I will consider it.

With WW I can place my shopping order while I'm at work and when I arrive home it's already there. Compared to it being a family event dragging 2 young kids around Aldi wasting a few hours on the weekend.

    • +1

That is when you buy Woolworths sim, but this is for Vodafone Sim, isn't it?

      • Yes. OP compares this deal to WW mobile however which is why I added the comment.

    • +3

WW has 10% off your grocery shop each month though. That extra 6% discount (compared to the common 4% off via gift cards) for me at least results in nearly $100 'profit' after 12 months.

You can also stack that on top WISH/Woolies eGift cards 4-5% off as well

      • +1

Oh sweet, I'm just waiting on my WW sim so I can port from Kogan so I wasn't sure about that. Makes the WW mobile even better for my situation.

      • Do you get a discount on sims. ??
Looking at the wm app the T&Cs state no discount on giftcards and recharges.

The following products and services are excluded from the 10% Offer:Smoking and Tobacco products and accessories, Liquor,Gift Cards (including iTunes)Mobile recharge,Woolworths MobileTravel cards and tickets,Carpet Care,Lottery products (to the extent that these transactions can be made on your account)Vouchers or offers or Delivery Saver items,Bag fee and crate service fee,Internet cafes,Woolworthsflowers.com.au
Please refer to the Terms & Conditions for more information.

        • +1

          I don't think you do

          • @cwongtech: what about Opal recharges?

            • @Rakddon: Have not tried but in T&C's Opal recharge should be theoretically blocked
              "Travel cards and tickets"

  • Esim available?

  • Vodafone say Tethering permitted to personal devices only, but must not be used in a modem or as a substitute for a home internet service.

I was planning on putting it into a Tablet and just using it for data. Would they even know its in a Microsoft Surface versus something like a Surface Duo phone?

    • Yes, they would.

    • +4

I don't think they would care as it's not an unlimited data plan.

    • They can tell what device you have it in (via the IMEI sent to the network when it connects), but would they care, absolutely not, as it's not an unlimited data service (I've done the same thing myself before).
200GB isn't a large amount of data over 12 months so it's not really going to impact their network much.

    • There is an option to select "Data Only' during sign-up. IIRC it includes more data than the regular voice+data inclusions.

  • purchased, just finished 12 months on initial Telstra deal (with $500 vouchers of course).

  • +2

One question. Am I able to use the same phone number with this plan?

    • I have the same question!

    • +3

Are you referring to porting (transferring) your existing number from another provider to Vodafone? If so, yes, you can with every provider in Australia.

    • +2

Yes. You can port your old number over.

  • Thanks OP, was about to head to woolies but saw this! Plus is also being able to buy online and C&C

  • When does this need to be activated by?

    • According to the packaging, Vodafone offers 12 months on all SIM card activations.

    • +2

Bonus Data: One-off bonus 50GB data available to ‘Eligible customers’ who purchase $250 Prepaid Plus starter pack (150GB included, total 200GB) and activate within 60 days of purchase.

  • +3

$112.50 direct from Vodafone after $37.50 Cashrewards cashback, if you're happy with 150GB.

    • its an existing deal

    • +2

this is nice but the 130 day approval date of CR is what turns me off

      • Yes that is a downside but at least it tracked instantly

      • +1

also cashback 'expires' after a year and CR claims your money if you dont login

        • what???

          • @Rakddon: yea found out the hard way when shopback stole the cashback back. cashrewards do it too but you can avoid it by logging in every few months

  • +1

Out Of Stock most stores in VIC

    • Traralgon has 1
      Wangaratta have 2
      Wodonga have 2

      other stores OOS

  • Still waiting delivery from the last deal…
Fortunately my existing plan has time to run…

  • -1

Also half price at Woolies, but only 150GB.

  • +2

Just went to the office work and get the $250 start pack without 200/$200 on it. Still get the discount down to $125.
Have a feeling that I will only get the 150GB data after activation.

Will update here how much data I got after the activation
