      • Yeah but PoS was supposed to be out years ago. I'll get out or mine something else when the time comes.

      • +2

        switch to raven or conflux.

        • As will everyone else. There won't be any money to be made come June.

          • @vodamerc: Can see miners selling gpu in droves on ebay and gumtree this week, possibly more coming.

They'll be swamped with 2nd hand GPUs in coming weeks/months.

          • +3

@vodamerc: I will come back to this comment in June to see if it came to fruition.

          • +1

@vodamerc: Gamers that are putting their faith in VB to deliver in 2022 will be disappointed.

Projects get delayed all the time with new problems popping up at every corner. EIP1559 was supposed to make it better for users but instead nuked the user experience.

      • -1

Eth 2.0 will probably not happen till at least 2023

  • Luke, any chance of a pre order on the 6500xt ? Hoping I can snag one for under $300 AUD

    • With MSRP being $199USD, once you convert that and add GST, you're already looking at a little over $300 AUD. All previous AMD GPU launches have had at least one model card available at the "base" price, so there's a decent chance a card will be under $350 AUD on release night. Might only be at one retailer though.

      • Thanks divvydan, yeah I forgot about adding GST.

    • Haven't had any word on them availability or pricing wise yet. Typically new cards are embargoed until on sale date when we would already have stock on hand anyway.

Thanks, just bought a dozen to resell.

          Keep telling yourself that

          • -2

@dbmitch: Just joking - didn't buy 12, only 1 (to resell). Buying more would make me feel too guilty.

      • Death to both miners and scalpers, muahaha.

  • Any fhr 3080s coming up?

    • yeah from Luke's own magic wand.

3080 fhr can score 96mh, 3080lhr can also do 76, all depends on the gpu price.

      • My Tuf 3080 gets 105mh stable, been one of the greatest tech investments of my life lol.

I bought a 600sqm land for $1m in 2020, sold for $1.5m late last year, still much better than mining.

2% interest on $1m is just $20k a year, cheap borrowed money.

I know everyone saying should had bought SOL at $2, but that's all in hindsight.

At least with the land, you got to keep it and won't dissappear into ether if market goes down.

  • This must a celebrate deal after CES 2022 announced the new 3050 card, hope to see more cheaper 3060 deals coming!

  • I agree, this is a good price for the mainstream cards. Hopefully the big price drops are coming…..

  • Why is there an extra $63 "Order Processing and Handling" cost when purchasing using Zip?
    https://i.imgur.com/8nD7exM.png

    • +8

Because zip charges the retailer 6% to use the service.

Zip also doesn't cancel this fee if you decide to cancel your order.

      • +3

        good to know, thanks

Hey @luketechfast, will you guys accept Afterpay in the foreseeable future? Thanks.

Any deals upcoming deals on the 3060TI Luke?

    • No availability sorry

  • Tempting on the 3060

  • OOS on the 3060 damn, was about to proceed to payment

    • Friend bought 10 of them.

      • +1

        Hoping you're kidding :)

      • -3

Friend selling 24 of them, 3060 ti non-lhr at $1200.

Welcome to the future… "plays" cyberpunk 2077 intro music

    • It was under $1139 at 'launch' https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/566682

      • Is it me or over the last year everything is so expensive and I’m not talking about PC parts alone. Feels like money has become cheap.

        • takeaway food now around $15-20, talking about those 'cheap' option at food court.

Used to be under $15 or sometime $9.90 special.

  • Serious question - with videos cards selling at ridiculous prices, isn't that price gouging?

    • Interesting question but it's also possible their buy price through the aus distributor has increased so it's all passed on to the resellers all while AMD and NVIDIA look innocent ?

    • Free market, supply and demand
But yes, they aren't being supplied cards at RRP…

      • -2

Then why we get in trouble for selling RAT test at a premium price then??

        • +1

          Medical stuff is clearly different
If your price gouging for something that is potentially life and death then you're clearly a mouth breather.

        • lol

    • Thanks to crypto and miners, GPU selling at least 2x RRP, which means triple profit for NVIDA and AMD.

  • -1

All these idiots mining and paying fat electricity bills lol rookies

    • +2

as long as profits outweigh electricity prices people will mine.

      • -1

And you don't need to consider the cost of faster wear-and-tear to your GPU and other PC components by running the PC 24/7?

        • +1

Our main workstation is +12Y old. It's on 24/7/365 a days year.

The only time we turn it off is when we're away for more than 24h or when there is lightning close by.

          • -1

@rektrading: Are you just basing on your one example, or have you worked with 20-30 PC running 24/7 for years?

            • +1

              @edfoo: Of course not.

Our workstation before that was on 24/7 for +6Y before it was donated. Every workstation has been donated and never failed because of 24/7 wear and tear. The newest miner is on 24/7 for close to 2Y.

        • as long as vram temps are kept under 100 degrees celcius they last many years. enough to pay off the card far before it causes any issues.

          • @zjz93: in theory will last 10 years on 100C constant use, esp those gold jap capacitor quality thingy.

            • @[Deactivated]: probably yeah. i'm just saying the card usually throttles at around that temperature

        • We normally sell the abused mined gpu on ebay/gumtree, the FHR fetch almost double the purchase price sometime. Some dumb miners still willing to get more milleage on old FHR GPUs LOOLLLL.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: Going long on Ethereum with a long time horizon is a good financial decision.

            • @rektrading: What's your plan if eth 2 fails?

              • @abadacus: Continue to stack Ether.

The price is mathematically coded to go up to right in the long term regardless of then ETH 2.0 get implemented.

  • Hi Luke, any options for pick up and perhaps reimburse the shipping fees? Thanks.

    • +1

No sorry, no local pickup during covid

  • Worth getting this 3070? Model seems a bit meh. I have a $1.5k preorder on a evga 3070ti FTW3 but can't justify the $250 difference for like 5-10% performance difference. Should I downgrade to this?

    • Yes I decided to go with 3070 from TechFast because 1500 for 3070Ti is too much for max 10% performance.

  • I currently run an RTX2080 Super - would the 3060 be a decent upgrade? My gaming solely consists of X-Plane flight simulation. Thanks!

    • +2

This GPU hierarchy isn't perfect (as ultimately it depends on the game/application in question), but it's a nice overview. RTX 3060 is a bit of a downgrade. RTX 3060 Ti would be pretty much equivalent. RTX 3070 a small boost. Perhaps hold out for the 4000 series? Or consider an RTX 3080? Up to you! Hopefully this helps :)

Check YouTube for benchmark/comparisons on that game you mentioned with different graphics cards. Also, sometimes AMD is better depending on the game.

      • That’s great, thank you!

  • +1

    HODL!?

    • +1

Sure if you can wait for 5Y.

  • -3

    I paid $980 for a 3070 Ti. Its still a rip

    • I paid $550 for 1070. It was a rippa.

  • Is this Gainward 3070 the same card as used in the PC builds?

    • Phoenix and Phantom will be in the builds

  • Hey Luke, just wondering when the 3070 cards will begin to ship out?

    • +1

Nearly all have been dispatched by the looks - check spam folder for potential dispatch notification. Henry has contacted a couple of people regarding shipping address too.

  • +1

This is you last chance to secure 3070 at this bargain price, go grab 10 of em and start mining…
