    But people still buys Intel platforms?

    • +1

      Fair question for this platform are they going to keep it for a few years or onto a new socket and then this becomes redundant

      • Im fairly sure I read that there's only going to be a Lunar Lake refresh before they move to the next platform. Which is also mostly in line with Intel's 2-3 gens per platform.

      Intel fired another 10,000 people a few days ago. NOT LOOKING GOOD. karma got them in the end. No Sympathy here!

      Forcing PC makers and retailers to prioritize Intel products by;

      • Removing rebates that would make that company no longer able to complete if it was to use AMD CPU's.
      • Using rebates and other incentives to encourage the exclusive use of their chips.
      • Limiting consumer choice, and using technical standards to handicap AMD
      • Paying and bribing executives from Dell, HP and Lenovo to exclusively use intel Pentium 4 CPU's and exclude AMD's Much faster Athlon's (at the time) The famous Japanese raid produced key evidence that lead to AMD winning the 1 billion dollar court case.
      • Once AMD was essentially starved for funds by intel's market manipulation and could no longer compete. intel proceeded to offer the professional market 6 and 8 core CPU's for over $1000 dollars and maxed their consumer market lineup to 4 cores for the next 8 years.

    I had a quick look online - the socket LGA1851 will be replaced with a new one (LGA1954) in 2026, so if you want to upgrade in the future, probably best to stick with AMD.

      Intel needs a Jensen Huang or Lisa Su

      Their bloodline is strong in the ways of the silicon

      *first cousins once removed

  • Intel LGA1851 CPUs are not bad ones. For some productivity tasks, a compelling argument could be made that you are better off with LGA1851 CPUs under specific circumstances. The problem is that Intel still tries to charge an Intel preimum when they can't do that anymore as AMD's offerings are very competitive now. If B860 boards were $70 cheaper on average and 245k was priced around $250~$350 instead of around $450 in AUD, I might have built an Intel LGA1851 system rather than an AM5 one.
