If you can afford it.
For your ~20% extra money the XT offers about 10-15% more performance but draws 30-40% more power in the process.
The extra performance is worth it for 4k. It puts you comfortably at 4k60hz at med-high settings on almost all games, while this would need some extra settings turned down.
At 1440p, just get this.
Not worth. This can flash vBIOS to 9070XT and get the same performance
Not the same. You are still missing compute units that the 9070 simply does not have and no BIOS flash would fix that. You also don't get the 9070XT OC headroom
So yeah, it gets you closer to 9070XT but the XT can still get ahead.
No, I have done this. It really has no difference on gaming. 3DMark Time Spy graphics score around 33000 for both 9070XT and 9070 with 9070XT vBIOS.
I have tested four 9070XTs and one 9070 flashed to 9070XT, they all achieved almost the same score
@Meteor Anarcom: That's fascinating, considering a 9070 is 7/8 of a 9070 XT even if you match clock speeds. Is the real XT hitting a thermal limit or something?
@boozed: Because 9070 has less cores, it can achieve higher frequency under the same power compared to 9070XT. Also lower voltages
@Meteor Anarcom: Same performance even in 4k ray tracing? Like for example cyberpunk2077 and not synthetic benchmark.
Not worth it, 9070xt is only 180 more for the next tier of performance, and 5070 is still cheaper for same performance and nvidia features
Yes if you can afford the 9070xt go for it. as for the 5070 only has 12gb not 16gb.
On average this is about 10% faster than the plain 5070
I believe buying a whole PC for $1400 would work better than $900 for just GPU itself

No exactly same card but similar performance
Don't know why this got down votes.
It may not be a better option for everyone, but worth considering.
Just about to buy/build a pc.
At this price should I buy it over a 5070?
It depends on your workloads. This has better raw performance and the extra RAM gives it more longevity. If what you're doing is compute heavy, the 5070 might be the pick as long as the RAM isn't an issue.
Rtx 5070 from techfast if you can wait is gonna be cheaper for sure.
These newer cards are so shit and overpriced. We had a $799 6800xt (gaming trio tier also) and $899 6900xt over 4 years ago. This is a mere 20% faster and the ram capacity is identical. That was after the covid/mining bubble as well (those 6800xt/6900xt deals were also horrifically overpriced).
Upvoters were clearly born yesterday. Most here must've been watching sesame street when I was purchasing the 6GB 1060 for $300.
I got an RX 5700 for less than $500 five years ago so yeah, "modern" prices are pretty difficult to swallow.
Is the 9070xt worth the extra $200 if these are sitting ar 899
