MSRP is USD 599 so the fair price should be AUD 950?

    • +7

Gotta add that GST and Australia tax

    • +1

It's $700 US on newegg, plus sales tax.

    • +5

MSRP from other countries using 10% GST

      US$599+10% GST = US$658.9 ≈ AU$1020

      CN¥4999(incl. 13% VAT) ≈ AU$1070

      CA$959+10% GST = CA$1054.9 ≈ AU$1180

I like how so many people jump in to defend and support AMD (or AMD's local distributors/retailers) overcharging us.

        • +1

A lot of it is the AIBs now too. Even buying direct from Asus/gigabyte/MSI/etc is over MSRP in the USA even.

Dark version in stock too ($1249).

They must have received a far bit of stock. Especially given the deal hasn't sold out already.

  • +13

MSRP $1139 in March. (An MSRP deal but MSRP on these have been rare.)

  • +6

Ufff finally got it, been waiting for this one since the launch… thanks!

    hideous card

    • +1

It only looks like that because of the green rgb on the image. You can control rgb to other colours or even turn it off. The steel legend variant also has quiet fans.

    • Most cards are. The founder’s editions, white Gigabyte models and ProArt Asus ones were pretty much the only non “gamer” oriented fugly ones in recent memory.

GPU manufacturers need to hire proper industrial designers.

  • +4

I still don't understand what value do you get for the extra 110 AUD…

    • It's the late buyers tax

  • +5

I'd pay $250 more and get the 5070ti which is also (way) overpriced but a slightly better card and dlss4.

    • 5070 ti only if within $200 difference, for $250 difference I would say 9070 xt. I said this before dlss 4 is not too much of an advantage when fsr 4 can be used on many games now. https://github.com/cdozdil/OptiScaler/wiki/FSR4-Compatibilit…
197 games working as of today.

      • +2

I agree the value difference between them is somewhere around the $200 mark.

    • +2

And includes Doom at about $160 value if that's your thing. Almost tipped me over to buy, but not enough upgrade from my 3080ti if I'm being honest with myself.

    • +2

Me too, weird that the Nvidia option is actually available at MSRP but none of the amd ones are.
DLSS4 had much better support, like easily 5x more titles

      • +1

What is the actual Aus MSRP for 5070ti? $1509? Thanks in advance.

        • +3

          Yes, $1509 for 5070TI and $1139 or 9070XT

      • +4

        Loving that 5090 MSRP….

        4k becomes 6k

        • And with every sale at that price it becomes the new normal. That's why this GPU insanity is here to stay.

          • +1

@Bruceflix: If you have fools that are willing to part with their money (or that of their company or a tax write off), the sky is the limit.

  • +7

    $1139, Scalptec NO!

  • +8

How on earth is this a bargain when the price has gone up since launch…

    • -3

      This is RRP.

Price went up I think because AMD stopped their rebate for retailers. The cards were sold at a “discounted” price at launch.

      • +2

Yes and No. The rebate was because the MSRP was initially higher than $599. AMD saw the 5070/ti launch and immediately delayed the 9070/XT mostly to adjust their originally intended price.

However, the first batches had already been sent to retailers everywhere with the original higher price. The rebate was just to offset this for the retailers.

So there's no other way to look at it than AMD, AIB's and retailers very deliberately jacking up the prices, and heck, you can't blame them when they fly off shelves at the higher price anyway (plus no need to sell for MSRP when NVIDIA also aren't).

    • +2

there is somehow a significant portion of ozbargain who thinks they are in one "team" as AMD. The more AMD profits, the better it is for them.

  • +4

I wonder how many profiles here are from the store or getting paid to come here and defend them… this is BS, it's not a bargain… at least my money they won't get
