Given how seldom we should be having these things I might aswell get the mango flavour, thanks!

      • Yep, 2 per day at most.

Thats about equivalent to 3.5 coffees.

Though, I know people who will easily knock back 4 coffees a day… their poor adrenal gland.

        • -6

These are worse than coffee. One a day is ridiculous, let alone two. Enjoy your health while you still can.

@Lucidium: Source? Peer Reviewed Study? Rough-numbers based on an anecdote? Anything?

            I've had both.
            Coffee is much worse.

Shakey, jittery, horrid stuff, for me.
Most energy drink caffiene comes from gurana which still requires processing and is a much kinder kick to your various affected organs.
Not to mention, there's less caffiene in it.

If you're anti taurine or ginseng, thats fine; I've never had a reaction to it.

The rest is water and sweetener, like you'd find in coffee.

I prefer the taste of coffee, but I'm not a fan of its affects by comparison.

          • +5

@Lucidium: Stop spreading myths, they have 80mg of caffeine per 250ml, which is the regulated level in Australia and is the same as an average cup of coffee, espresso is much higher per ml. You can have 2.5 per day for the recommend safe caffeine level of 400mg.

I see people chug the large 750ml iced coffees all day and no one has the stigma that those will kill you even though they are objectivity worse as they have huge amount of calories adding to obesity in addition the caffeine. A 750ml Dare Double Espresso has 240 mg of caffeine and 630 calories, the 500ml one has the same caffeine as the 500ml monster as it is the set Australian limit.

A zero/low calorie energy drink is much healthier than most alternatives to get caffeine.

            • +1

@Kommodore: Is 400mg really the recommended safe level?
I reckon I'd get pretty close on night shift, especially if I have a pre workout and go to the gym on my lunchbreak but otherwise that seems very high for the average punter.

I've got a massive caffeine tolerance (really should ween myself off it for a while) but these things are definitely addictive to some. My teenage daughter used to go to Woolies and grab multiple before school for the day, said "all the kids do it". I thought she had the odd one here and there, didn't realize just how many until she came clean not long ago.

              • -1

@whitelie: Maybe if your username wasn't what it was, she would have came clean earlier?

Thanks. Now just need a deal on servo sunnies and I'm sorted.

  • +2

Can get these for $2 each chilled at the nightowl in Newfarm, a perfect midnight snack.

  • +1

i wish they have monster import 550 ml

    • +7

I always think to myself after finishing off my 500ml can “Damn, if only I had an extra 50ml”

    • +1

I agree. Monster Import tastes better.

    • -1

10% off with S&S and you still want 10% more volume?

  • Works out to be the equivalent of about $5.8 per 4 pack from woolies/coles. That's a good price considering even discounted prices at the shops are $6.5+

    • +1

Just to clarify, that's the S&S price Ducky is working off. $39 price comes out to be $1.625 each, or $6.5 for a 4 pack which is on par with woolies/coles specials.

  • Thanks OP stocked up!

  • -5

Bloody hell guys, steady on, this stuff will kill you in these numbers. Just stick to a coffee.

    • +3

      Why not have both?

    • +2

Nah, these have less caffeine than coffee.

      80mg per 250ml vs coffees 90mg per 240ml.

perhaps if you're sensitive to ginseng or taurine? But people normally learn that pretty quick in life.

      • -1

Look, I shouldn't really preach, we all have our vices, but I personally think this one is avoidable. I know some people don't like coffee though.

        • +1

          Hot coffee with splenda.
          Or cold Monster with splenda.

          Is your concern the taurine?

          If so, There's always 28Black.

          • @MasterScythe: Yeah, taurine. I'll keep an eye out for 28Black to try. Thanks.

      • However, these are 500ml cans. How quick can you drink 500ml of coffee?

        • A large from a coffee shop? (such as starbucks, or a local barista)
          Umm…. 5-10 minutes? Why?

        • LOL, that's how you measure it? Speed of ingesting it? Why not just get everything in an IV drip and consumer whilst you sleep you mug?

    • Perhaps if you drank them all in on go.

  • -7

I'd rather eat my own shit than down this many monsters in a lifetime.

    • +3

You can do both, its not an either-or scenario.

Some folk just prefer sweet to bitter (so this instead of coffee)

Or, would like a little less caffeine than coffee.

      Each their own.
