Surely you'd go a weber over this?

    • Agree. I used to have a BUGG and bought it for the looks initially (I blame the wife;). Cooking was terribly uneven and we never got good results. Always wondered what the fuss about Weber was. Replaced it with a Family Q and what a difference! Everything Ive cooked has come out perfect so far and fast.

  • Couldn't agree more!

    • Depends on what Weber you are comparing it to.

  • I would recommend getting a Weber Q family over this one.

    • I have both and they are different things. The Bugg gets much hotter and unlike the Weber Q series are designed to cook with lid open, unless turned down low for slow cooking.

I have had the Bugg for 8 years. Fantastic BBQ and cooks great lid up or down.
As mentioned can get hot, so when closed need to turn down low.
Only problem is it can be a pain to give it a good clean.
Other than that it is still going strong
I would be interested to know with the comments above how they know the Webber is better?

Update: Found this for comparison: https://homemuse.com.au/beefeater-bugg-vs-weber-q/
I'll search for some more in case this one is biased

    • Key standout for me from that comparison is that the temperature/gas dials on the Bugg are at the back (!). Surely that would get old having to walk behind it when ever you want to make an adjustment?

      • Eh…….not really unless you had stumps for arms. Just reach around from front and adjust :-)

      • They are on the side, just behind the side plates - I just reach forward and twist.
Sorry but lol - walk around the back to change the temp - had a good laugh on that one, thank you

        • That makes more sense but still seems a bit silly, they’ve obviously prioritised aesthetics over function. How can you see if you’ve got it on full, half, quarter strength etc? Just have to go off flame height?

          • @baario: No there is a dotted line on the dial that is clearly visible whilst cooking
