Is this one of those you get what you pay for scenarios?

    • Thinking about sharing with a couple friends to mitigate the risk. Reviews seem good so I’m hoping they aren’t terrible

    • I'm a regular pod drinker and these are good and not just for the price. I do use two or three pods port coffee though. Tastes better than many Nespresso, Vertuo pods and heaps better than moccona crap pods. Key is to use multiple pods per cup

    • I use these in my Caffitaly machine, I'm just happy with them. Mind you I buy the weakest version, I found the Milan to be a bit too strong

  • +6

Don't do it. I picked up one of the 100 packs and they were utter shite. Cheap crap coffee and the plastic pods had a failure rate (ie. how often the seal failed to be punctured) of about 40%

      Thanks you saved me $29.85

    • +1

      Agree with you

6g per pod, that's about $17/kg, same as the good supermarket beans on their frequent specials.

Now do I trust Kogan to sell decent coffee, or would they be bidding on some reject stock that the seller was desperate to unload?
Meh, it is so cheap, if I rarely drank coffee and wanted something for guests, I'd roll the dice.

But if like me, you are a daily coffee drinker, FFS just buy a conical-burr grinder and an espresso machine. It does not need to be fancy.

    • 6g per pod?! Will that not make the weakest espresso known to man?

      • +1

        6g per pod?!

Most Nespresso pods on the market only have 5.2-5.5g each.

You can pick Aldi/Caffitaly version for the same price, 7.5g/pod.

        • Caffitally all the way. I grabbed the Milano 100 for $10. It was better than expected. Better than Lor and all that crap.

I normally refill my pods with fresh grind. Its not that good, but definetly on par with any brand store bought pod.

But id wait for one box for $10 deal. These age fast. The last few got crappy.

    • It is more about Perfetto than Kogan regarding trust. You can find the same products on other platforms like Catch.

      • If Catch sell it, it must be garbage. I have more respect for Kogan, and that is saying something!

Got this in a recent deal for $10 for one box of 100 and was happy enough with it… not amazing but drinkable..

    • +2

They messed up on the NZ site the other week and forgot to bump them back to $29 before the free postage offer went live so I grabbed a mixed box for $9nzd, at that price it was totally worth taking the risk.

I'd actually buy them again at this price as it's far cheaper than other brands, but only the 8 or 10 rated ones, the 6 are really weak. Sure they aren't as great as you can get but if you're still happy using a pod machine and are loading them up with a lot of milk anyway you probably won't notice a big difference for loss that will cost you 10 times the price.

  • 1000's of good reviews and expiry ok with about 9 mths good enough for me .
I have some TA 14% of gift cards for this place I have to find somewhere .

    One word. Kogan

    • Hehe often has the best price and leave them to me :)

    • +1

Yeah, not looking to be Kogan'd again.

    • They are on Catch, etc. too.

So a good deal then? Sounds good to me. Never had an issue with Kogan.

  • +1

Thanks Op purchased can't go wrong for the price who cares what the coffee snobs and Kogan haters think!

    • +3

If you're not fussy, I'd argue just go for instant haha

  • Thanks. Have been using these for a while now, was waiting for a discount again!

  • +2

Looks similar to one I bought called "Podalicious" Was Podiscusting. Avoid. Had plasticy taste.

  • Thanks OP for sharing. This is my go to Hot Choc. Stocked up for Winter and the date is good from the last time I ordered.

  • Never had an issue with Kogan however not tried these. Bought a selection at this price, don't see how they can be much worse than any of the other cheaper pods on the market…

  • Have had these before. I drink coffee daily (mostly black, espresso and such), but am not a coffee aficionado/snob in the least and will drink almost anything (within aus that is) without much bother. For me, these are perfectly tolerable and but the L'or 100 packs around $30 are noticeably better. And i agree with the above remark about puncture reliability, it can be quit hit and miss. Not a big deal for me, easy enough to stop and reposition to go again in my machine.

  • Thanks, but no thanks this time Op. Thing I’ve found with cheap Pods is they tend to be bloody awful.

Hating waste, I’d force myself to drink them & 100 pods is an awful lot to finish if they turn out to be nigh on undrinkable.

  • +1

    These don't taste good, but they're cheap….
I got rid of mine and just stick to the Lor ones off Amazon.

  • +3

They're bad. I threw an entire, unopened box away and probably half of the second box I got.

  • +3

I purchased 300 of these and regret the decision. They look like rubbish and taste like rubbish. Must be the beans they scrape off the bottom of the truck and compact it into a used pod. How else can they be this cheap and be sold on sites like kogan and catch. Stay away, u have been warned.

    • +2

So you don't think a coffee connoisseur will like it lol ?

Your review stop me going through with it :)

      • +1

Don't bother. Ur better off spending the money buying coffee from hungry jacks or Coles express.

  • +1

I purchased 3 boxes (300) of these for $24 Delivered from Dick Smith around Black Friday. Zero failures and I thought they were OK, a bit weak but drinkable. They were an improvement on the previous ones Kogan/DS used to sell previously.

Just curious, with cardboard tags for bread and no more single use plastic bags, how long before the guilt train stops at the coffee pod station? I assume you are buying 300 pods of future landfill here and it looks to be worse that whatever the bread tags would have created.

  • +1

    Pods = landfill

    • some have recycling programs - notably Nespresso, L'or, Moccona and Illy
