    If you're trying to get a better price by using a broker, it's not going to happen. There's already a major shortage of cars for people willing to pay full retail price (and a huge waiting list). There's no reason for a dealer to discount anything.

    You might get free floor mats if you're lucky. Or maybe just a boot mat that's worth even less.

    Don’t waste your time mate, I don’t think you’ll save $1 going through a broker at the moment

    InB4: “hAvE yOuSe tRiEd AuToExPeRt?? hE cOuLd sAvE yOuSe fOuSeNdZ!”

    What are you hoping to gain by using a broker? Faster delivery? Mats and fuel? A 30% discount? Or just someone to do your paperwork?

      I do think my post title was clear? I am simply looking for a broker that comes recommended, I made no mention of looking for a discount etc etc
      But I am curious, what paper work does a broker do?

        What are you hoping to achieve by using a broker, instead of walking into the dealer yourself is what most people are confused about.

        • To b honest I just want to save the time and hassle of shopping around the few Mazda dealers in my area. I fully appreciate discounting etc in unlikely, except for the fact that given the car will not be from existing stock. Given it will be a mid year delivery then a dealer can place a forward order with a guaranteed sale.

            @Ocker: Then you don't need to shop around. If you are not looking for a discount and already have your mind set on exactly what car you want, just ring the closest dealer, tell them what you want and ask a delivery time if they don't have it in stock. Tell them to email you the contract of sale, sign it, send it back and ring them with a credit card for the deposit.

            Or, you know, I would be happy to do all of that for you and slap my "brokers" fee on top of it.

              @pegaxs: This ^^

              Just walk into the first dealership you come to and hand over ya deposit.. No broker fee on top

    • To all of those "helpful" members that derided my thoughts of using a broker - I have already received an off of a 5% (approx) discount PLUS mates and a full tank of gas !!

      • What mates and gas come with a new car? You sure it's not the broker's machanis mates and air con gas?

        *I Don't Believe You.gif*

        A special order vehicle, in a colour that isn't even available yet for a car that hasn't even been put into production yet, isn't in the dealer stock, into a market where there is a massive back log of orders and your car is a minimum of 6 months away…

        I can see you getting the same calls as others here where closer to the date there will be a "I'm sorry, but due to price fluctuations, your car is now going to cost 5% more…"

          Just accept the fact you don't know as much as you think you do. All of your comments so far have been nothing more than ignorant crap.

          • +1

            @Ocker: I asked "why are you looking to use a broker" and asked if one of the reasons was to "seek a discount on your new car." To which you said;

            I made no mention of looking for a discount

            And then went on to double down on your lies by stating;

            I just want to save the time and hassle of shopping around the few Mazda dealers in my area.

            Yet here you are gloating about how you used a broker and got 5% off a car. A 5% that you will probably not get and you got had by the broker, because most likely at the 11th hour, they will hit you up for a "price difference" from "currency fluctuations".

            Just accept the fact you don't know as much as you think you do.

            I guess you are right. I spent more than half my working life in the automotive industry and learned nothing. Damnit. Bested again by a dude that cant even buy their own car. Damn brokers ruining my knowledge.

            Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new car with mates and gas (When it does finally get here…).

    I used MotorScout a couple of years ago and was very happy with the discount they managed to obtain. There's no charge for their service. Even though supply might be an issue at present, you've got absolutely nothing to lose by trying a broker.

    Theres a reason why there have been zero to no car ads running for the previous 1 year.

  • A total of 1,049,831 vehicles were sold across Australia in 2021, which represents a 14.5 per cent increase on 2020. FCAI Chief Executive Tony Weber said that in the context of pandemic restrictions limiting access to dealerships and international supply issues, the new vehicle market in Australia remains positive.

    1. 916,968 new vehicles sold

    2019 pre pandemic 1,062,867 new vehicles sold.

    • What are people going to do with all the cars after the pandemic. Hope there is going to be abandoned car shelters.

      • Some posters here seem to think that their second hand 10yo 150k km car is ready for the scrap heap. More new cars simply means the age of the average car gets younger.

      • I already run a shelter for unloved vehicles. The lost vehicles home for wayward motorcycles. (Or so my neighbor seems to think :D)

      • It makes for a better used car market than it is currently.

  • Nothing carsales website then a few emails cant do

  • I didn't even know there was such a thing as a used car broker (for one-off purchase, as opposed to bulk buy)

  • shortlist the colour/spec/transmission you are after and just ring a few local dealers looking for stock. not hard.

    we bought a Mazda 3 like that 3 years ago - red / maxx sport / manual, 2nd dealer had it, placed deposit and bought car, picked up after finance went thru in a couple more days.

  • The model/colour I want will only commence production in February (at the earliest)

  • We used Motor scout recently and saved around 5% on our new car, but long wait times though nothing they can do about it.
