Bang & Olufsen BeoSound 8 $1266.50 with Facebook like (Normally $1490)

110

No one ever expects to see this brand on a bargain website like ozbargain. But at the moment they are offering 15% off their Beosound 8 iPod/iPad dock. It's still dear, but at $1266.50 with a free set of speaker covers its just about affordable.

I saw this pop up on Facebook this morning and couldn't help myself and bought one. You are required to print out the Facebook page liking Bang & Olufsen and they will deduct they discount at invoice.

I know it's still expensive, please don't vote harsh on that :(

Features:
Plays and charges iPhones and iPads
Nice little remote control
Empties bank account
Sounds awesome!

    Pricey for an ipod dock.

    • very! :D

    • its like rolex. pricey for a watch. but what you pay is what you get.

You are paying for the name and design

Never seen a larger gathering of elitist and snobs than on that page, read some of the comments about the (badly drawn) meme face design..

Bang and Olufsen putting fashion ahead audio for 30 years.
(same goes for Beats, Bose, etc)

Ever walked into one of their stores and allow the fluffer err I mean salesperson to go on and on and on about how B&O stuff are put together? Try it. I admire their skills in keeping their face straight at all times.

Great deals, hard to get special from them.

    Empties bank account

    +1 for that.

now you have to like companies on facebook to get a discount? stuff that!

    • +5

Yeh like it then unlike it. It's not that difficult…

  • Try organise a group buy with these if you want a better deal. The dealership where I bought my car from had negotiated a purchase of 50 of these for less than $1k each. I was given a choice to take one of those home or take $1k off my car…that wasn't a hard choice at all.

    • +3

      1k off the car?

      • Yep took the 1k off instead.

If i didn't just buy a zeppelin recently i would have jumped on this so quick! they look amazing and sound decent too!

    • The Zeppelin sounded better IMHO…and a fair bit cheaper too.

Only $999 at the US apple store.

    • Not sure how this works, there's no transformer with this. theres the risk of damage coming from overseas too. I looked into buying one from the USA months ago but could not be bothered with the hassles/risk

Try the UK, they're at the correct voltage.

    So cheap! I'll take 10!

On one of the comments - apparently they're going for 1200 at David Jones.

Also I'm also of the opinion that if you actually need to care about the price of a B&O (and others) product, you're probably not in their target market. That's why I've always steered clear of them XD way out of my budget.

    • I asked David Jones around Melbourne and was told $1490 at all stores.

      • Maybe with some membership/loyalty discounts? Or maybe on the floor negotiations.

      • DJ Bondi Junction got them for $1200.

  • Geez… For an IPOD DOCK?!

The iPod costs less than a fifth of that!

  • With B & O, you only get O for your buck ;)

  • maximum bang for the buck!… or your money goes with a bang…

  • I'm impressed that there are so many here who can afford to buy this - even at a discounted price!

Definitely breaks the stereotype of a typical OZB being 20 something y.o. chowing his ramen and clicking away looking for new deals.

True OBer's chow on Mi Goreng. http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/63484

    • It's not how much money you've got matters but it's actually how you spend it that matters.

    • ironically, I'd say the opposite. People on ozbargain are more likely to be well versed in the concept of money and saving money and thus there would be just as many people on here who have plenty of money around. Can't get rich without being careful with your spending.

  • Wow bargain!

  • I was given a B&O BeoCom4 phone a few years ago, the sound clarity is awesome. I couldn't believe it cost $400 AUD retail until I needed a headset for it.

BOOM $200 for a piece of aluminium and a microphone. AMEX had a discount and bonus points, the comments about elitist snobs is pretty much bang on.

Anyway, the products are top notch but still overpriced IMHO.

  • Love B&O, but could never afford it. Props to a company which puts effort into design as well as sound. Speaker covers are normally $350KK so an extra pair makes this actually a legit deal.

  • Anyone know how does the sound quality compared to the Zepplin?

    • From the reviews I've read, its as good or "just" worse than the Zeppelin air…

I personality went with the Zeppelin air. The sound out that thing is awesome and I got it for less than half the price of this bargin ($560).

That said, B&O products are almost never on sale, so i'll vote this bargin with a pretentious +1 lol

  • I've got some B&O stuff that is fairly old now but the Beolab 8000 pencil speakers still look better than most speakers out there and it's all made in Denmark. As for iPod docks, I recently purchased a Vita Audio R4 system and that has great sound. I recommend people who have a budget of around $1000 for an iPod dock to audition these.
