    I have that dock.

    Yes it does support dual screens on M1 macs, BUT:

    • It is noticeable lower quality than 2k/4k if you have big screens
    • it's got a small amount of lag
    • There is a bit of jittery, mouse jumping frames which is really annoying if you draw things on the screen
    • The display link video driver uses significantly more CPU than your standard video driver

    On the good side:
    - Looks to be good quality
    - Charges my laptop just fine

    Bottom line, I stopped using it for now until the drivers improve a bit as it gets really annoying with the unresponsiveness. I do not recommend these docks, just spend a few extra hundred bucks and go for the M1 Pro directly if you need multiple screens.

    The main advantage will be the integrated DisplayLink technology, facilitating multiple display configurations for computers (presumably, laptops) that feature a data-only USB-C port (which doesn't support DisplayPort Alternate Mode or Thunderbolt).
