Can You Give eBay Buyers That Don't Pay Bad Feedback Ratings?

I have been selling a couple of items recently on ebay and there seems to be an issue these days with buyers winning and then never paying/ responding. I even had one buyer submit an offer, I accepted, then they cancelled all within the space of a couple of minutes, what is the point of that? I don't really remember this being an issue in the past? It's happened several times and is quite frustrating, I'm not sure why eBay would get rid of this feedback option?

  • yeah got one as well last month. what a piece of sh
item was $1300 so i am super angry.

yup you can give feedback but seems it is positive only (but you can write something about not paying)
i also did a chat with ebay to report and told them to punish the account.

Copying and pasting from the original post. What's the point of that?

repeating the same thing, hoping for a different outcome?

          Thanks for asking. Cheers.

That part was an edit, it was a reply to the comment above, then I added it into the OP

Well better that they cancelled in a few minutes than going silent for a few days. Probably just buyer's regret. They submit an offer but were conflicted and probably half hoped that you wouldn't accept it.

In some cases they're driving up the sold price history of the item.

    • I totally don't get why they did away with negative buyer feedback. I had someone recently give me negative feedback (and lodge a paypal case against me) because the thing took too long to arrive. What a douche. It's not my fault ya idiot, its the postal service under covid!

Sellers haven't been able to leave negative feedback for bad buyers for at least 10 years IIRC.

What I used to do when I was a seller is leave a 'false positive' by leaving a negative comment in the remarks box.

Ebay has gone to crap, I now only sell on Gumtree and FB Marketplace.

      Ebay has gone to crap,

      Massively

  • Ebay did the calculus and decided that having buyers scam sellers is less damaging to them than the reverse due to optics.

Buyers are eBay's customers (not sellers) so will they do anything to protect them, invariably to the detriment of sellers.

    • Exactly this.
