Was looking for a webcam to use at home, now that work from home is back in force.

Went to JB HiFi and bought the C505 which is usually $89 and price matched to Amazon for $43.54

Got home and saw the C270 is even cheaper (was briefly $31.49) and also in stock (Link above)

    Great price on c270
    Have this camera, was working as simple plug and play but after an MS update the Logitech driver needs to be updated which I can’t do on work laptop. So if you’re working for a corporate or company with strict PC controls try check if it will work before purchasing

      weird, i have not required anything direct from logitech from mine. Windows update has delivered all drivers.

        Yeh on my personal PC I haven’t had to go direct to Logitech or anything, the webcam driver has either auto updated or I hit “update driver” (couldn’t tell you) or there was just never any issue with personal Pc, still ply and play with no issues.
        But work PC, all of a sudden no dice and was after some changes or MS update we rolled out and don’t have the power to update device drivers.

          Yeah they must hold driver updates on their end, misread what you said. Thought you needed to manually update from logitech.

      You're right, the i is slightly different in that it has the flat face and matte black finish, white LED instead of green, compatible with android and also has a 3m pickup instead of 1.5m. So seems like its an improvement on the original?

    If anyone working from home is still slugging away with a laptop camera, I highlight recommend getting even one of these very cheap externals. Even if the quality is no better, having the angle from above the monitor is heaps better.

    I've had issues with the previous model C270 webcam. When hosting Teams calls it had issues.

    It might be better for people to look up the supported models of whatever service they know they'll be using:

          I guess it's luck of the draw who serves you and at what store. I've had success price matching Amazon in the past so long as it's including shipping (which over $39 is free anyway).

          Worth noting that JB's own policy says they will match online stores:

          A JB Deal applies to identical products in stock at both the competitor and the relevant JB Hi-Fi store at the time of price matching. The competitor price must be verified by JB Hi-Fi. Online price comparisons must include any delivery costs.

    Nowhere did it say refurb/damaged box.
    Not too keen on a seconds product…

      It's likely a counterfeit product. Logitech stuff gets counterfeited all the time. eBay is packed full of it. Even if you get packaging, go into a retail store and compare the two, it'll be easy to spot the differences.

    Can't believe we still have 720p webcams in 2022. 1080p should be absolute minimum.
