Also consider this Amaysim 150GB 6 month deal for $64.00 after cashback if you need more data & don't want to be locked in for 12 months.

1000 points only worth the equivalent of $5 at Woolworths I believe

Is there an expiration date on when you can use it?

  • +2

Be aware, I had tried to port two numbers out of Amaysim, both failed many times. One was finally ported out, another still hanging even after Optus fixed some routing error. That's since Xmas!

    • +1

Put the new SIM in, sometimes that triggers the request.

    • I experienced similar issues with porting during Xmas also, had to ring up. They acknowledged it was stuck but fixed it eventually.

  • +3

    This is interesting to note.
As of now there is no "$149 1 year Starter Kit" available directly by Amaysim.
The closest one is $200 with 165GB data.

This $149 looks like a new plan, as it is 120 GB Data (lesser) and after Woolies discount, the price is even lower than amaysim's own 60GB yearly plan without International Calls (which is priced $120).

  • I can't see any amaysim when I click on "go to deal"

    • +1

add your postcode and check in the catalogue.

It's not available online, you'd need to go to your local store.

      • Thanks!

  • How is amaysim/optus network in regional like geelong region? Considering if I should change from Boost mobile to this one

    • +1

I've not been to Geelong but I regularly travel to Gippsland region from Melbourne. Reception with both Optus (direct) and Telstra (Boost) - both 4G varies. From my experience Optus is faster but more fluctuations (ie goes from wildly fast to incredibly slow) Boost is more consistent but I would not be able to have a conference call.

Chances are when one drops out the other has too, because it's a dead spot.

I would hazard a guess and say Geelong CBD Optus would be good not sure about Amaysim. Again I've not used either in Geelong but a few years ago Optus was horrific in Gippsland.

      • +1

Thank you for that honest feedback! To be honest, i rather a consistent network than to risk a spotty one. Guess boost is still the best

    • Outside Geelong the optus reception is problematic at best However it has improved.

Boost uses the full Telstra network so has the best coverage in Australia by far, but you pay the Telstra Tax for the privilege

      https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Guides/who-has-th…

Telstra network coverage vs Telstra Wholesale network coverage ..

      https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Guides/Telstra-ne…

Other problem is that as 3G networks are shutdown it will dramatically reduce coverage in a lot of rural areas …

  • any issues porting from another Optus MVNO?

Woolies Mobile $150 100gb/365 days is up there as well, as the 10% off shopping a month makes the plan basically free.

      • +1

… providing you never get/use weekly spending bonus point offers. Adding everyday reward card to receive this 10% off per month with exclude you from any other weekly bonus point offers. Be aware!

        • It doesn't for me AFAIK.

Not really sure how to compare, but I currently have 15 bonus point offers for this week, 12 of the small 'regular item' type ones and 3 bigger special ones.

      • Great deal.

Firstly Boost $135 plans ($150 plan discounted to $135).

Boost has stop selling the $150 plan and has even disable auto recharge for this plan.
Only those with vouchers or starter kits which have not expire can still use them. If not your be forced onto the $200 when you recharge.

My mum only needs the international calls to two countries on the list.

Boost has increased the lowest annual cost to $200. Luckily managed to get $50 refund with recent renewal. It's good to have a cheaper alternative for the next renewal.

    • +2

can you please advise how you managed to get the $50 refund from Boost

      • Check if got email from Boost.

    • +1

Yeah Boost was great! Then it got greedy, increased the lowest annual plan to $200 as you mentioned. Plus they have now removed SA off unlimited. I left them for Coles Mobile, and not looked back tbh
Pay $90 odd bucks annually, and just use WhatsApp for calls to SA now.

  • Unlimited calls for a year to Malta is a bargain. Usually quite expensive to get Malta calling.

    • Is it true that Maltesers melt in your mouth?

  • Wtf why would they not give more data for Willie's plan

    • +1

Did you ask him? Maybe Willie has enough data already.

Just visited local schofields woolies today and was surprised to see two plans on offer, one that's mentioned in the title whilst there is another amaysim cheaper 365 day plan on offer with 60gb data and rest same perks as in above plan discounted down to $99 (from original price $119). So for people who are only looking for a cheaper plan with a 12 month validity and don't fuss a lot about data usage can definitely opt for that plan too… Not to forget the $5 worth off (1000) woolies points on offer too along with free International calling to 28 countries. Unless you wanna spend $20 more and go for double the data (120gb) from above plan..
Gets better if you also have addtnl 10% monthly discount from woolies from either woolies insurance product or existing woolies mobile contract..

Make sure you visit the store to check stock. I phoned 3 stores and they said they had no stock. Went to one of those stores and they had quite a few although price was not marked down on the ticket.

  • 4 stores, 0 stock

    • Several in Canterbury, NSW.
Not labelled/ marked down but scans correctly.

Oh. 1 more thing. It wasn't at the front Service counter display area, but were found in one of the aisles that all mobile sims are kept

  • Hi everyone, I have just bought the sim pack.

The checkout machine said it was activating while checking out. Does that means the 365 days prepaid starts now?

Kinda worried cause I bought this in preparation to port in after my current plan expires in March.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Mine is take more than 4 hours to port. Started 6 days ago, got rejected on day 1 due to wrong dob, I checked dob on both end it was correct. Attempt 2 by amaysim got rejected for same reason. Attempt 3, escalated to port team and unsuccessful due to port getting stuck. Attempt 4, port team to try manually.

This is the longest port I have done, not sure who to blame, amaysim is saying they have done everything on their end and waiting for Telstra to finalise porting process. Boost is saying they have done everything and it's upto Telstra port team. 6 days later I am still waiting.
