Online Florist Discounts (Valentine's)

So, Valentine's is coming up and I'd like to get the Mrs something delivered.

In b4 bUy FrOm AlDi, or bUy On FeB 15, etc etc. Some things are worth the extra splash out

But, besides cashback around 5% (Interflora), does anyone know any discounted gift cards etc for online florists? Tried the wiki and seem to be coming up with nothing

This is part of Valentine's Day Sales for 2022.

I doubt you will get any other florist discounts for Valentines Day:
    - Demand is crazy
    - Supply is not the best (a lot of flowers are imported these days)
    - Some people are prepared to pay stupid prices, so no need to discount

    • Yeah that's why I was looking more for discounted gift cards or something 🙂

Thanks for reminder I had gift sorted but forgot the flowers!

Will beat the crowd and get something this weekend.

I've never really seen any discounts for V Day though

why is that single day so important, Do you love your other, everyday or on that day only? seriously people need to grow a pair and not fall into the consumerism that this event is, and if the SO is offended that you didnt get anything but offered her a choice of any other day, seriously consider whether she loves you?

doesnt hit the same for the 'gram if it aint on valentines

      (or so i've been told)

    • Of course, but, you know, "…the economy…"

She's never had the pleasure of receiving much on that day, let alone my plan of her receiving it at work to show off in front of work friends.

Love it or hate it, Feb 14 still has an effect early on in a relationship

It does because people make it so. What happens if you genuinely refuse to participate in this day. Does she / he dump you, if that is the case id really reconsider my relationship with this person or better yet let them choose between one day or the rest of their life?

Or, and here's a thought, some people like making others happy, no matter how commercial that may be.

I have kids, should I give them nothing on Easter or Christmas? Or just celebrate it because it brings them joy?

          • @spackbace: Easter and Christmas are religious events.

Valentines Day was created as a commercial event.

Nothing wrong at all with bringing joy to others, obviously. But I don't think we should only do that when someone else tells us we should. Otherwise we are just following along like sheep and don't have any spontaneity or individual thought.

              @GG57:

Easter and Christmas are religious events.

              Except that I'm an atheist

      • i want to find one of those good services that deliver flowers to work too

  • Leave the toilet seat the night before Valentines for her to start an argument. Break up and get back together the day after Valentines. No need for flowers! I'm such a genius!

(Disclaimer: Don't listen to me unless you want to be single forever!)

‘ Who are You, Who are so Wise in the Ways of Science?’

  • Retailers and hospitality know that on this day there is a different part of the male anatomy driving buying decisions.

So price is not an issue.

Thats the problem, that this isnt about love its about show off

Go get an orchid from Bunnings the week before and repot it. You can go all out and make a kokedama with it and get it delivered by Uber courier so they can flex in front of their coworkers.

Another option is to get an orchid arrangement from a florist and ask them to put it in a water tube and wrap it and if you keep it in a cool dark place it should last a month.

Avoid Interflora, they're sort of like the UberEats of flowers, your order with them gets assigned to a florist on their books and I've been told by a florist that they will use the worst flowers they have in stock for their Interflora orders.

Don't buy online unless you know it's the actual local florist down the road. Many many of those supposed local online florists are just fronts.

I'd rather get a decent bouquet in a style I like rather than some poxie discounted generic 12 long stemmed roses.

Women like orchids and natives. Be different.

You could buy a local Plant Nursery voucher (Hand to her in a lovely card) and use this to have a lovely morning at the Nursery on Valentine's Day? She can pick out the plant she likes. Even better if the Nursery has a cafe.

'Some things are worth the extra splash out'

    So are some people!

As others have said, if you want to go with flowers, go with a local florist. Interflora and the like just bump the prices up big time!

Get chocolates or similar- something more personal - delivered. Will be a much bigger hit!

  • I had a really bad experience ordering from an online from a company called "nazflowersandgifts" even though it was not on a popular day such as valentines/mother's day/public holiday and I had paid full price.

Flowers were old - Naz flowers pushed the responsibility to the florist, florist advised they were local flowers from the market that morning but admitted they had pulled petals from the roses as they looked old.

I paid for "delivered flowers" but resolution was to go to a florist half an hour drive away - Nazflowers and florist pushed the responsibility to each other, even though I had made the purchase from Naz.
Florist advised I can go and pick up some replacement "roses" or I can "bring back" the whole assortment and they will replace the roses. Florist also advised that they were paid half of what I was charged from NAZ flowers website, and even if I ordered direct, they would charge $30 delivery.
Naz then ignored further phone calls and emails.

The roses stems started to droop/bend in less than 20 hours.

My advice, order direct, at least they have a shop reputation to uphold. And you get some sort of resolution(acceptable or not) You pay for delivery one way or another.

I don't know of any gift cards, but Cash Rewards is offering 10.5% cashback via EasyFlowers. I've used them a few times for my interstate stepmum and she's always reported how lovely the flowers are (and so has my stepsister - and believe me she'd let me know if the flowers were crap).
