  • Nice, I still use the first 'generation' of these brother inkjets. =) But gee the design looks much better now, and makes me want to update. Ahahaha. =D

  • +1

    Picked one of these up for the same price on Tuesday from Oxley
    They didn't have any on display but I spoke to someone and they located some on a pallet out the back

    Excellent printer A+++

    Starts printing within seconds after hitting the print button and the printer is in sleep mode

  • So how much is this usually? How long does the ink last and is it cheap to replace?

    • According to my manual it uses Standard Yield LC40 (approx 300 pages) or High Yield LC73 (approx 600 pages)

      You can get the LC73 Mega Ink pack for $115 http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Ink-and-Toner/… or for more better value get the Ink Value Pack for $117.95 and it comes with 2 packs of 20 glossy paper http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Ink-and-Toner/…

      • I bought mine on eBay. $2 a cartridge.

        • +1

          I refill mine. =)

        • Where did you buy a refillable LC40 from? I've been looking for ages.

        • I use syringes to refill them myself. =) So I have been using the same cartridges for about 4 years. =D

        • I didn't think the LC40 can't be refilled with a syringe. How do you do it?

        • Theres two holes. One with a 'stick' pointing from it. The other that doesnt—for non oem, you cud just put the syringe in this and refill it.FOR OEM (genuine brother cartiges): You get a drill==> drill through the opening without the stick until you feel you have gone pass a thin piece of plastic, you stop, pull the drill out. Then you get a syringe, fill it up, poke it back into the hole you just drilled until you feel you are pushing on a sponge, then u 1. hold down the stick on the other hole (it has something to do with pressure, so ink does not squirt back out) 2. inject ink into the cartidge. 3. put it back into the printer, then you have refilled cartirges. =D

        • Or the other option is to get a Continuous Ink System

          Not sure how well they work with Brother printers though

  • thanks for heads up on this, my old brother mfc-685cw died after a paper jam, so decided to get a new one, and this one seems perfect for what im after. so far so good, and loving the auto-duplexer! (which is much quicker than canon mx870 apparently). I did notice that despite the canon mx870 being 128 on the officeworks website, it was 148 in store - can you just show them the online price to get it at 128 (if you wanted it?)

  • OMG, so after thinking through very carefully I went and bought one. I am AMAZED IT CAN DO: CD/DVD/BlueRay direct printing, ADF, DUPLEX, Wireless, Ethernet, AND EVEN FACEBOOK. Yes FACEBOOK, it has this mini browser built in to it for Google Books, FB and such. I am using it on ethernet atm, and it's quite fast. =D So cool. And the cartridges can be refilled even more easily than older Brother MFCs. =) And it is also a promotional product at OW at the moment—so other lower speced printers from Brother are actually more expensive.
