reduced to clear, not sure why

    Over-projected demand. Seasonal clear.

the printers that support it have also been discontinued

  • Bah, it's not compatible with my printer.

  • Great deal… if you have a relevant printer… or do you buy the printer for this deal…?

    • Compatible printers haven't been sold new for ~5 years.

  • Is genuine really better than aftermarket? Is there a discernible difference in print quality?

As someone who has been using the aftermarket ones for a Brother laser printed, There really is a big difference in the quality and accuracy of the colour output, as well as fewer toners with issues (like leaving a streak for no reason). But since most of it is just to print stuff for the kids to do like worksheets activities, it doesn't really matter. I would say largely no difference for black/white prints of text though.

I currently using aftermarkets cartridges (tried 2 different brands) and they are that horrible I end up buying a new colour laser printer instead.

    • I've had both genuine and aftermarket leak so I don't know what to think! I expect the cheapo ones to be shoddy but having a genuine brother one leak was a bit disappointing.

I've found generally they work the same - but that's because both are terrible.

    • I've had bad aftermarket that turn into powder and then spill into the machine. I found a good aftermarket where there cartridges aren't like that and work fine. Rather save $$$ and get aftermarket

Tks OP, while my new Lexmark MC3326i using up link like water (I have to admit print quality is next level though) I can revive my old brother printer with these cartridges for kids document printing.

That's a laser printer. It uses toner, not ink. And there's some thing wrong if it's using up toner like water.

      • Yeap make sense, toner instead of cartridge.
What I tried to point out is I bought the Lexmark printer 2 years ago for less than $400, recently bought replacement toners (3 out of the 4) and they already costing me almost the same price as the printer.
Thus having the cheap genuine toner for my old brother printer definitely help.

Do you really need to use a laser printer?. What's stopping you from going with an Ecotank ink printer?. Those do thousands of pages black from each black ink bottle and thousands of pages also from each colour tank. The problem you do run into some times is the ink dries and clogs the nozzles if the printer isn't used for some time. But the maintenance feature can fix that.

For example the Epson Ecotank ET-4800 ink printer is only $399 at Officeworks. And the ink bottles (Black, Magenta, Yellow and Cyan) are only $20 each also at Officeworks. The black does 4,500 pages.

          • @hollykryten: Thanks this is new to me, will do more research on Epson Ecotank.
I suppose my work spoils me with their fullsize Multifunctional Lexmark printer's print quality.
Originally I was also very impressed by how this desktop laser printer can almost reproduce the identical outcome however the price of their toner are outrageously expensive and I started to doubt myself.

  • Damn I thought this is TN-341

  • Looking for deals for toners with model numbers: TN-2450, TN-2430
