$10 off Dr. K's Guide to Mental Health Video Bundle US$50 (~A$72.40) @ Healthy Gamer

100

Ello~ Just sharing a discount on Healthygamer's mental health guide.

I normally wouldn't share this but since I've got my guide for free by signing up for coaching, I've got to say: IT'S SO BLOODY GOOD. Really good education material and practices to help you understand yourself better and the lessons are mapped out like a skill tree in games which I appreciated.

ofc you can probably learn off the cuff of the lessons from most of Dr. K's streams and recordings for free without the need to pay at https://www.youtube.com/c/HealthyGamerGG/videos , but damnnnn, this was too good to not share.

Hope this helps someone!

That probably won't help people who needs help.

My personal advice is, get help if you are struggling. Medications can alleviate symptons while you work with professionals on your issues.

I honestly don't see the point in negging so I don't neg. Just putting that out first.

My question is, do you think people who are going through mental health issues haven't heard of what you are saying or not aware of what you are talking about? Regardless of your intentions, I feel like what you have said can be seen as saying "cheer up" to people who are going through depressions. It belittles mental health issues that people are going through.

Dr K's interview with reckful was the first time I'd ever heard someone discuss the details and nitty grittys of their depression and a lot of the conversation resonated with me and fueled a motivation to work on my own mental health. My opinion of Dr K just from watching his free content is that he really knows what hes talking about and is wonderful at empathizing with people, diagnosing issues and providing realistic solutions, I have no doubt this course is a great buy for anyone suffering from depression/anxiety. RIP Byron :(

Hey OP how do you find the coaching? Have recently found DrK on YouTube and am super impressed.

    • Honestly? Best money I've ever spent on myself. But YMMV.

Context: I've been actively working on my mental health for the past 3 years after I got diagnosed, stumbling for most of them but actually making headway in the past 6 months. I've got adhd and recently found my ideal med dose too so it's really been helping. Tried getting coaching from a adhd coach in training for 10 weeks but it didn't click. Then I took up healthygamergg's coaching 2 weeks ago. (Note, I'm trying to show that I've already been thinking a lot about how my current self is a product of my experiences+biology, so I came prepared to it with questions/issues)

I'm on the 1-1 session. And holy shit it's been SO GOOD. My coach has already helped reframe some of the stuff I wanted to tackle and found common points where a few behaviours could be stemming from the same source of self-worth issues, etc. Yooooo this is so mind blowing yo. It also helps to know that my coach has gone through some similar challenges I have too so it's been great.

They do a great job of setting boundaries, automating the scheduling and reminders so you don't forget stuff, and have an internal team that acts as customer support/etc so you'll get taken care of if something doesn't work out.

I'm really really happy I started it. Kinda wished I did sooner but I wouldn't have gotten my coach if I haven't.

Also, the coaches train with Dr K weekly and they surprisingly have heaps of suitable timings for our timezone even though they're in the US.

If you can afford it, I really encourage you to try it out.

      • I suffer from chronic depression. Do you think this is good to replace my psychologist with? The coaching looks a lot more affordable and I can have more sessions too

        • +1

This isn't supposed to replace professional therapy or help. But if it's a good add on, that'll help improve outcomes, totally recommend trying a few sessions! (They get you to pay monthly and not for the whole thing so you can cancel early if it doesn't work out)

Sounds like a scam. Too many "books" and "guides" about this issue.

    • Too many "books" and "guides" on science. Sounds like a scam.

Like our knowledge and depth on topics don't evolve over time …

The YouTube channel is an all around great evidence-based self-improvement channel that tackles everyday problems, including mental health. I bought the depression mental health guide and it's probably the most well produced mental health material out there (not that it's necessary). That being said, there is nothing 'new' that hasn't been said in many of his YouTube interviews and videos about depression. For a period of time I would watch/listen to all his videos religiously since Reckful's (RIP) initial interview. A lot of his views on depression go into a lot more depth than the on-the-surface information websites. It would take dozens of hours to go through the free depression content alone on his YouTube channel but the guide is a 'choose your own adventure' interactive website which has supplementary homework material as well. It really is one of its kind in terms of content and execution. Even though I personally did not benefit from the guide because I had already known most if not all the material he already presented, it was a good way to give back to watching dozens of free content.

Psychiatrists make a killing so Dr. K going down to part time and doing HealthyGamer on the side to help a broader worldwide audience is admirable. As far as I know he pays everyone who works for him a fair wage and haven't seen anything bad about him.
