    • Read the other thread OP linked.

    • Honestly the best consumer coat is mother's ceramtic coating which can be had on sale on amazon for $29 regularly (this product is ultra cheap in the US). SCA has it for $40ish per bottle. The best thing is you can stack it for gloss and i think 1 bottle probably could do 6-10 cars honestly.

The finish is way better than TW, meguiars, bowdens, autoglym or basically any other SCA product. The professional grade ones seem like poor value, this is tested to last 8 months in texas using a test panel sitting out in the sun/rain all day. Pro grade ones last max 2 years in the texas sun, which would be the closest comparison to AU UV but cost $80 per coat (see C quartz UK).

Not associated with the brand but defs a fan. It works, TW is medicore at best.

      • You need to look at some reviews because even TW performs better than Mothers and there's certainly products that outperform TW. Mothers is like Meguiars, old school products that rely on the reputation they built decades ago but have no fallen behind those that have kept up R&D.

        • Mother ceramic isnt old school its the only consumer brand that isnt a wax hybrid, it is a pure ceramic coat. There is a visible hard candy coat on the paint when applied (unlike the other products which act like waxes - no candy coat) and the beading/gloss is superior when stacked.

This is one of the few comparisons where test panels were exposed to the texas sun over time. Allot of youtubers are lazy and do the unrealistic chemical test. Or they dont follow the instructions to cure for 24hours and do 2 coats, i think this guy has 1 coat if i recall corrctly

Feel free to use what makes you happy at the end of the day. My 2 cents is based on my personal experience having used both products in the past. i agree there are other products that out perform mothers/tw ie cquartz uk 3.0 (2yrs outside in direct sun) i agree but they cost significantly more ($70 per coat, compared to 29 ish for 6-8cars, 7-8months a coat in full sun).

          • @Yarrph:

            is a pure ceramic coat

No, it's not. It's basically silicone, as I said, old school. Does contain some silica like other products claiming to be ceramic but it's nothing special, just an old formula updated for current marketing trends.

As you said though, feel free to use whatever makes you happy.

    Morning Fresh heaps cheaper

    • Detergents are salt based. Good way to promote rust. Also quite harsh. Put some on mirrored sunnies for 5 seconds, wipe and see what happens (hot tip…all that mirror will be gone).

  • I've heard that….

From all accounts its the best sealant/wax for its value.

what's better value, this or Seal 'n' Shine? Do they essentially do the same thing?

A little different, different ingredients. No "ceramic" in Seal n Shine.

        • Yeah … Maybe …

  • Iā€™ve got the Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax, if i use that then use this, will that be beneficial or no need?

    • +2

Wash and wax products do next to nothing. I would recommend using this on top. You'll get the smoothness, slickness and protection from this SiO2 sealant.

      • +2

Agree and in fact, I have moved away from wash & wax products and just wash only to avoid having their "wax" component affecting adhesion of the spray sealant.

    • Stack your spray ceramic coating multiple times and use just a wash-only product. I have about five coats of the Mother's product on the roof, bonnet etc and two coats on the sides of my car. Water pretty much leaps off the panels. It is grippy to chamois which is weird and is sorta pointing me towards one of those big boy blower type things as that would work very well with the hyper beading I get now…

    • They are different things. Think of this as "teflon" for you car paint - it reduces a lot the amount of dirt that sticks to the car paint.

So the way to use is you first wash the car well, dry it, and apply this.

Then drive as usual and wash whenever you need. You can reapply this whenever it starts wearing off - I do it every 6 months.

  • Can this be used on the glass?
Are there any other recommendations? Experts, please advise.
    Thanks

    • Suitable for application on paint, metal, plastic and glass automotive surfaces

      • Thanks :)

      • If we use the vinyl care/shine from megs/BO, then can we use this on top?

        • +1

Yes, it will basically go over any other coating, and can be layered.
Just depends which kind of coating you want on the "bottom" ?

Reality is after a decent thorough wash or two, you are probably removing most of the Megs vinyl care product anyway.

    • I use it on all exterior surfaces and no issues.

      • Cheers … I'll give it a try … Thanks

    • There's nothing wrong with putting some in the glass. It's hard to completely stay off the glass when you apply it TBH.

I intentionally applied it in all the glasses once to test if it's a good replacement to rain-x, and after a few storms I realised it's not. Rain-x or invisible glass are much better to keep the rain and dirt off the glasses.

  • This will be a good educational tool. Check out 15.55. A lot of work as we need a virgin clear coat before we apply this, am I right guys?

This is like $1 for 1 minute (through a spray wand) at my local car self serve car wash. More than enough time to cover a whole vehicle

    • I'm seriously going to take a photo and link it here soon.

$1 gets me 70 seconds of ceramic spray. I think people are surprised at the technology available in the 21st Century, how strange.

For all the dummies who downvoted and thought they knew better. Lmao

  • Is it still recommended to use these on a car with ceramic coating? Tia

    • This does the same as the ceramic coating, only that Turtle wax wears off faster - thus $30 turtle wax vs. $1000 professional ceramic coat.

Professionals charge all that big money for a ceramic coat under the promise that it will last for years… so if you think it has worn out faster than that, it was probably a rip off. I personally preferred not to pay all that and got this turtle wax instead, but then I have to reapply twice a year.

But yeah, there should be no issue if you apply this on top.

  • I got this on the last deal and just applied it today. It seemed to go on easy, let's wait and see if it works and lasts anywhere near the 12 months it says!
Still seems to be good value at this price. We did a small SUV and could easily do another car with the rest of the bottle.

    • +3

Wont last anywhere close to 12 months in Australia, been using this for two years, you get 3-5 months depending on factors like, is the car parked outside in direct sun, what kind of wash you use and how much you drive. Got this on the last deal for $25 per bottle from Amazon delivered. Put on Bowden's Own Bead Machine Sealant yesterday, alot of people say its better.

      Hope this helps

  • Just traded my red 2006 Mazda 3, the dealer commented on how well the paint had stood the test of time, I treated the car with this twice in the last 3 months and the paintwork looked magnificent. Pretty sure I will get another 3 or 4 applications out of this bottle. I will be doing all my cars with this going forward, save your money and buy this. Its great

  • got a bottle on order to pick this afternoon

  • New to this stuff so a few questions:
    1. What is the best way to apply this? Clay the car and then apply, i.e. no waxing first?
    2. What about reapplying? Just wash the car and reapply over the top of the old one?
    Thanks

    • +1
      1. Best to clay and use some sort of decontamination/prep spray first to ensure the surface is bare for maximum aheresion, otherwise you seal in contaminants and it doesnt last that long. Polish if you have a machine or wana try autoglym/bowden's polish if you are very particular in the final finish.

The above isnt essential and the alternative is just spray it on ever 3 months, the bottle will last like 6-10 cars depending on what car you have anyway.

      1. always wash first, whats the point of sealing in dirt?
    • Use this chart as a guide.
Just find similar products to do the job for each step.

  • Put this on my new car , washed and dried my car, then 2 coats 24 hours apart. The paint is shiny and very slippery now
