As recommended by the legendary Project Farm.

This stuff is no joke. Always had great results with Turtle Wax.

    • What happened to project farm? Used to be all about car stuff and is now anything but car stuff

    • +7

While this is a decent product at this price, the problem with overseas reviews is they don't have access to Bowdens Own. If you look at local tests where this product was in the comparison line up along with Bowdens Own Bead Machine, the Bowdens products is clearly better performance wise and in all the reviews I've seen won out against all similar prodocuts. A lot of people seem to dismiss them as they're not a big international name and are sold in chain stores but their products really are world class.

      • Right, one of the tests comparing the Bead Machine and Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovb6_K6-zoM

        Bead Machine did great here.

      • Hei mate, bead machine is also getting sold for the same price.. do you recommend it over turtle? I always get confused between wax and ceramic coating.. are these bead machine abd turtle ceramic coating and not wax?

        • are these bead machine abd turtle ceramic coating and not wax

They're both sealants. In the case of the turtle wax it contains Si02 (aka silica) so marketed as ceramic.

          • @apsilon: Thanks mate.. I read that ceramic coating lasts longer. Is there any reliable ceramic coating that can be applied (relatively easily) without professional assistance.

            • +4

@EssendonUser: Personally I'm not a fan of "permanent" ceramic coatings. My answer really depends on how much effort you want to put in and how often. I do recommend Bead Machine but something almost as good but quicker to apply is Bowdens Own Happy Ending but it requires a pressure washer and foam cannon to apply.

              • +1

@apsilon: Happy Endings is a great product. Complete car protection in 60 seconds and lasts for months.

                • @phbk: Yeah it's become my standard for my daily driver. Excellent performance with huge convenience.

  • Can this be used on a car already having ceramic coating?

    • +4

The SiO2 polymers act as a 'booster' to existing ceramic coating. Absolutely use this.

      • Thanks, coating on my car is wearing down so this will help.

      • +1

Do it every six five four three months!

        • +10

          covid booster intensifies

          • @ltwo: for car under 18months too…

          • @ltwo: I am using the Mothers system on my car and have "stacked" it three times over the past week. I have joined the Ceramicated economy!

  • +2

good deal, considering supercheap and repco regularly sells it at $50plus per bottle.

Can vouch for its usefulness, its the only ceremic wax I'd use.

  • Can I use this in the shower to repel soap scum?

    • +1

Not sure about this one but rain-x and similar products are probably better

      • +4

I tried rain-x a while ago but it didn't last long at all and was not too good at saving the glass from soap scum. A few days ago I put this (Turtle hybrid ceramic wax) on one side of my shower but it is too soon to report if it is working or not.

        • +1

Please let me know would love to hear how it worked out. I'm looking at doing the same

    • -1

On your body? Could be an interesting use case to reduce the amount of showers needed per week and save the planet by reducing water consumption.

Let us know how it goes.

    • +1

You can try Bowden's Own Wet Dreams on the shower glass, I've seen a few people say it's good.

    • +1

I use it on my vanity mirror… makes it easier to clean.

  • +1

Great stuff for coating of all sorts of things - not just cars.

The Aus price is rip off and you should only every buy on special which is still a rip off at $30.00 plus.

If I did not already have a couple of bottles I would buy more at this great price.

    • Seeing as this is $23+shipping, $30 for local stock seems like a pretty good price?

      • It's been $22 delivered for local stock, just have to wait for the next sale.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/turtle-wax-hybrid-solut…

        • Thought it worth mentioning that the dates on those deals line up with Prime Day and Black Friday sales so you could be waiting a while

          • @pyr0maniac: According to sunnyc it's regularly on sale at that price, even as low as $19 at one stage.

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/11374530/redir

            • @adr8: Well I don't know man, either sunnyc was wrong, confusing USD for AUD, confusing third-party sellers (which add shipping), confusing products, or we've been sitting on our hands all this time.

Either way, don't care, was just wanting to inform people they could be waiting for a while for local stock to hit that price again (not to mention it would likely go OOS in a matter of hours when it does hit that price).

      • My error - I did not note the plus shipping. So used to buying from Amazon UK with delivery included.

    • Doesn't look like a ripper price when adding the postage unless buying in bulk. It just this deal getting lots of up votes.

  • Currently I only wax my car, but looking to move to ceramic.

Does this replace the wax, or do I need to do something else to the car before using this?

    • Yes, it's intended to be used as the protection layer and as a wax substitute.
It's a no-brainer for me. I use the Meguiar's ceramic spray (I have a bottle of this Turtle Wax alternative ready to go next) and it's so easy to apply. It beads like crazy, makes my car glisten, and lasts for over 3 months easily.

    • Take it with a grain of salt. Very very little (if any) "ceramic" to it. More marketing hype.
This is nothing like a proper ceramic coat but I would compare it to a spray wax vs paste wax. Very different in their properties and performance.

      • Mm yeah I expect so! Thoughts on this product vs Nu Finish - which I think is a wax?

        • +1

If you're still using Nu Finish, any product mentioned in this thread will be an improvement.
I'm not 100% what it is but it doesn't contain any wax, it's more like a paint cleaner and sealant.

You can apply this directly after washing/drying. Longevity will be increased the better the surface prep is to begin with, so wash, clay bar if the paint is rough/contaminated, paint cleaner and then protect with a spray like this.

          • @whitelie: Ahh you're a legend, thanks! =D really appreciate the how-to guide and tips.

  • delivery is 12 something to Melbourne Metro… deal breaker

  • How's this compared to TurtleWax Hybrid Seal and Shine Wax? I thought Seal and Shine was better? Dunno…

    • In my memory the s&s last longer, but this has more shine.

    • My seal and shine lasted way longer than this

    • IIRC both are about on par so which ever is cheaper if you're limiting to just those two products.

  • This or 303 graphene….

    • Definitely not 303 graphene, it hasn't performed well in tests I've seen. See my reply above for what I do recommend.

      • Strange, in the reviews i've seen 303 graphene has been going toe to toe with this.

        • With this maybe, but in the tests I've watched both have been outperformed by Bead Machine. The graphene products should be a real premium product but so far they seem to be more marketing hype than an actual step up in performance.

    • Bead Machine or TW Graphene. I personally prefer the TW Graphene but they're both fairly good….i don't believe in any of the "ceramic" or "graphene" buzz words like Bowden's generally explain and hence why they don't name their products after those but they do offer good protection and shine regardless of what they actually are.

      • IMO Bead Machine is better. Actually watching a multi week test currently where those are 2 of the contenders so it'll be interesting to see where it ends up. Early results are looking like Bead Machine will win but TW graphene is not far behind. Given Bead Machine is half the price and Australian it's a pretty easy choice IMO.

        • If it's the one I'm thinking of, I take it with a grain of salt. Bowdens being on the angled side will skew the result a fair bit.
I've used both personally and preferred the look of the TW on a black car (and didn't have any issues in application like the reviewer did) but both had great longevity on a weekender, would be hard to pick a winner. Probably Bead Machine based on price alone as it's cheaper to start with but also on sale regularly.

  • How does this compare to Bowden's Lazy Wax?

    https://www.bowdensown.com.au/lazy-wax

I see apsilon comments above recommending Bowdens. How does the lazy wax (which I currently use) compare to bead machine? Is it the case that lazy wax shines, whereas bead machine protects as a ceramic coating?

    • Lazy wax does give some protection but is totally outclassed by Bead Machine in performance and longevity. Lazy wax is a fairly old product now.

  • Is this like a cheap way to 'get' ceramic coating? I been meaning to coat mine with something.

    • Yes

      • No. Nothing like a proper ceramic coat.

        • The question is if it's a cheap way to 'get' ceramic coating and it is.

Ceramic coating is essentially to stop dirt and grime sticking to your paint and providing extra shine, which the product in question provides both.

          • @jayz: But ceramic coat isn't even expensive, it's the labour, particularly in the prep work that makes it expensive. A pack of Gyeon Pure or MOHS for example is like $130. It would 100% give better, longer lasting results than 6 bottles of this stuff used over 3 years and Gyeon is one of the more expensive ones, you could certainly get cheaper like Carpro Cquartz

            • @whitelie: Completely understood, but do you think someone asking if the TW stuff is a cheap way to get ceramic coating has the knowledge/skills to prep and apply it?
In no way am I trying to downplay how good ceramic coating is. I have Kamikaze Enrei and Zipang/Miyabi on my cars and love it.

    • No, it acts and applies more like a wax.

If you want a ceramic coating, there are plenty of decent kits for <50 last I checked

  • Kogan are charging $119.89 - now that's what I call a mark-up!

  • Would appreciate someone's help on this. I bought a dual Toolpro polisher as the cars paint is getting a little bleaky. If I get this https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/septone-septonemr-buff-c…, and then put this deals wax on, is that the process?

    • I've never used that specific polish but in very simplistic terms, yes. There's more steps if you look at the process in detail.

      • I have a $20 SCA credit so I just looked at the reviews and price 😁. It's just going to be a once off / every few years thing so looking to keep it simple.

        • I suspect it'll be a fairly heavy cut so be careful, especially around panel edges.

  • I usually use Meguiar Quick Wax spray. Does anyone know, how superior is this compared to the Meguiars? It has almost a similar price.

    • +1

My neighbour swears by Meguiar's Ceramic Detailer!

      • +1

Looking from the YouTube videos, even though both resulted in the same, this Turtle Wax will stay longer. It is a bit cheaper as well compared to the Meguiars, so I will give it a try.

  • Thanks OP

  • Ive used both this is better imo . Its really easy to apply and my car stays shiny for over a month( i drive 4 times a week and its garaged overnight).

    • What did you compare with?

      303?

  • I really rate this product. Been using it on my 95 pulsar for quite some time. Has helped hold is value

    • +1

Actually, that was probably COVID and supply chain issues ;)

  • Thanks OP, copped one and some other goodies to stop going to the car wash every 4 weeks and to hit that sweet international prime shipping.

To people who are already users of this: Do you use in conjunction with any other products post-washing? ie. Do you wax then ceramic coat or just use the ceramic on dry paint post wash?

    • +1

I cheat and use wash wax solution (Bowden's), dry and then apply after. Once applied feels like glass on my pulsar.

I believe you can use either way. Waxing and then applying this would give more protection.

    • +1

Why did someone downvote my question/comment? 🧐

      • I downvoted you for saying "copped"

        • 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • whats a good value shampoo to use with this ?

    • If you want just a straight basic shampoo Bowdens Own Auto Body Gel but Bowdens Own Wax Wash is actually cheaper per volume and adds a little more protection at the same time.

  • +3

Nowadays you can get seal n shine at Coles for $22 regularly on sale. I have both but seal n shine lasts longer.

  • Does compound/polish/wax ever expire? Can i tell from how it looks? Have few that i got years ago.

And the mother’s brand wax that i bought few months back doesn’t come out smooth. Not sure if this normal or old stock.

    • Paste tends to dry out but liquid should remain OK. Solids may settle and require more shaking than normal.

      • Thx. The same brand, polish liquid is good, that’s why i thought the wax would be similar but it comes out in blob. Maybe need to shake it more next time.

  • Any recommendations for a ceramic coating equivalent to this that can be used on Matte paint?

Haven’t managed to find one myself that I’m game enough to try.

  • OOS just as I was just about to purchase.

  • +1

This product is great lasts a good solid 3 months with vehicles outside 24/7 and is wayyy easier to apply then a conventional wax. 303 graphene spray is a bit subpar IMO megs ceramic wax is great a lot of the graphene products just dont offer superior performance over conventional ceramic sprays like this just yet IMO. (I spend way too much $ trialling detailing products and watch an obscene amount of reviews also - most you have to watch with a grain of salt TBH my fave is probably ScottHD!)
