Apparently a Neuron van got rocked the other day. It's all those teenagers late at night who aren't allowed on them and wearing no helmets that are ruining it.

@furyou: Agreed, it's not difficult. In my perspective, I feel more vulnerable on the footpath when ebikes zip through at 30-40kmph. I'm sure they are more than 250W.

I once got a crazy fine for not having money on my myki and they claimed i was fare evading. Ended up going to court and pleaded guilty to it and the magistrate dismissed the fine, thats right I paid $0 of the 300 fine i woulda had to pay. You find magistrates despise fine givers and usually give people a fair go if they are seen to be taken advatage of by the nanny system.

Saw a person ride past police walking on the same direction last month in South Sydney they didn't care. I've heard highway patrol are more strict though.
highway patrol are (profanity) career cops who doesn't deal with real crime. Whilst cases pile up, they look for people on phones and speeding.

Highway patrol are money collectors in police cars… aim is to drill up as many fines they can and they are damn good at it.
They got nice shiney cars tho, BMW 5 series diesel, some nice torque in those.
They could try hitting softer targets though - you could easily get 3-4 cars at once every time the level crossing gates raise and people drive through before the lights stop flashing…

You can get about 45km/h max out of this scooter. I wouldn't want to go anymore than 30km as it'll be very bumpy without suspension.
Do you know what this would bring the range down to?
Not sure as I haven't firmware hacked mine yet but I would think a lot less. Obviously there are other factors like weather, your weight, hill inclines and so forth.
I'll firmware hack mine later to add a bit more power to the Sports mode for hill inclines and decrease the take off speed from 5km to 2km.
From the Xiaomi website:

So anything you do outside of that will affect the range. If unlocking and going faster in hot conditions I would expect range to be impacted signifiantly.
It's impossible to get over 35km/h on the pro2. The motor is 350w. If you do want to mod, it will significantly reduce the battery life.

cfw.sh was my source for that speed. Oh well 35km I think is still quite excessive for it.
@Clear: Not really. I had a 1s which is basically the same but with 250w instead of 350 and 35km/h was ehh. Upgraded to the mantis 10 duo with 60km/h and its way more fun 😂
@Leho: Lack of suspension is what makes it a bumpy right at high speeds. Mantis 10 is fancy. I'll definitely upgrade to something like that later.

Easy to flash via the SH Utility app.
Mine maxes out at 32kmh on full charge. I upped Sports to 30A for a little more torque for uphills.

@Deal-Sniper: be careful upping the amps, it voids your warranty and it kills your battery & motor very fast, i had mine on 30A and the battery broke (stopped charging and holding a charge) after a few months. Becuase cfw was used xiaomi wont do anything. :(

Not sure where you're pulling 45km/h out of but 34-35km/h is the hardware limit on this specific scooter.

I recently bumped mine up another 5A in sport mode (so 30A total) just to be able to make it up the hill in my area, it used to cut out before. Also bumped the speed up to 30km/h but try to stay under as the ride isnt very comfortable on the road and even worse on footpath.

Different laws govern bikes. Ebikes (and regular pushbikes) are banned from footpaths already unless you're accompanying a minor. And strict limits on power and delivery to allow pedal assisted electric bikes without registration/licence.

Earlier this week I saw a guy going on one of these on a road with 80km/h limit, where I believe even cyclist are not allowed. Everyone was slowing down because of him. One of the dumbasses who delays approval of scooters in NSW.

I have had my Mantis 10 Duo up to 65km/h and it feels stable.
Generally cruise at 50-55km/h but when there are people around I will cruise at 15-30.

I've seen a grandma ride these. They're surprisingly intuitive, but you do need to stand. I would probably recommend a small ebike over these for a senior, you get to sit, the brakes are usually far more effective, and mostly everyone knows how to ride a bike

yes and that too. the smaller wheels take every bump pretty hard because of the shitty conditions of our bike paths compared to the smooth paved roads for cars.
