have used this for a couple of months for work meetings, zoom catchups etc - works very well.

    • Previously bought Viofo p800 webcam and working good as well, specwise looked better than this and only half the price on ebay, and other advantages that Im missing?

      • +1

probably only one - the logo/brand.

  • 922 Pro was around this price on Aliexpress over Black Xmas period, not sure about now.

I can't believe that web cam technology really hasn't moved on for years. This was released in 2012, but is still a good camera.
Most 10 year old tech would have ended up in landfill years ago, let alone still be available to buy today.

Compatible with Windows live Messenger… hahahaha

It's thanks to phones being the normal way to video call and because the standard display resolution hasn't gone above 1080p. 4K is still extremely niche relative to the majority of monitors out there. Hell three times as many people use 1366 x 768 compared to 4K… PC community stagnated more than any other tech. Probably because it's the least affected by planned obsolescence

I'm looking at my decade old one, still beats the laptop built-in all these years later. Dynamic range is noticeably lacking compared to some newer options, so I'm using a DSLR with capture dongle now.

    • If you want good webcam use a DSLR/mirror less camera. I use my XT-3 and it’s amazing.

Its the same reason why Apple has stuck with the same 720p facetime camera for so long.

Web cams have hit a point of diminishing return, sure you could make it 1440p or 4k, but I don't know of any day to day application where you would need to, or of any site that would accept that upload. Zoom is obviously pointless, low light performance is probably the only thing worth improving on but even then most applications for this product would be in a well lit room anyway.

      • The quality of the lens and the sensor matter more than the resolution spec alone.

For anyone wanting to use this with an M1 Mac.. lots of differing opinions online. I bought it. Plug and play - highly recommend. If you need to use the software it might be hit and miss but for general use it’s great.

Pay extra $50 and get the StreamCam

  • Recommend this camera. Paid about $110 4 months ago.

  • My parents have been using mine for a while for video calls. Works great. Can recommend.

  • Good camera. For anyone weighing this up against no-brand sub $50 cameras, this one will basically look a lot better. If you're going to use it for meetings, this will give the sort of crystal clear video you see some people have vs other grainy videos.

Also the microphone is outstanding for meetings.

If you have seen very similar looking cameras but with random brands, they're trying to emulate this one. Video quality wont be close though.

  • I’ve got one, and I’m not super-impressed with the mic pickup. I had lots of people complain it was a little glassy & too much echo. I use an external mic with it now. Picture is great, though.

    • agreed, sound is garbage. i now paired it with a rode nt mini. now its a great setup of both video and sound.

  • This wouldn't be good if you're thinking of starting an OnlyFans.

      Speaking from experience?

    • +2

If you're ugly the average low light quality may work for you

      • +1

I didn't think OnlyFans was an available option if you're ugly.

        • There's a fetish for everything these days, just gotta own it, I suggest snapping up UgliMunki before someone grabs it, I checked for you and it's still available 🙂

          • @sk3iron: I'm sure you were just checking available domains. ;)

        • 2 words - 'foot fetish'.

          • @Nametab: Just 'fetish'

Theres always a kink for anybody. Sure it may not be everybodys cup of tea but it is for someone. And yes 'ugly' is one of them.

    • Description states it captures "the smallest details" you should be fine.

      • +1

Nah mate. I have a macro lens for my dick pics.

    Incompatible with Windows Hello

  • I remember buying the new c922 for that price in 2019 I wouldn't buy the older verison of the webcam the c920. The 922 has better focus since they fixed it in the c922.

I've been looking at a webcam for a while now but using a mobile phone with Droidcam still works for me.

  • +1

Damn, I just bought one from Officeworks two weeks ago for $107 (after I asked them to price beat Kogan) and now they reduced the price to $99…

Anyways, I bought this mainly to use with Linux and can confirm that it’s plug and play with Ubuntu 20.04

    • With your Linux experience, does the webcam auto-adjust to the surrounding lighting well?
I believe there's some windows software available, so wanted to know if Linux suffers without it.

  • +1

If anyone is wondering what the C920's still photo resolution is, you'll find Logitech hide this information. I looked it up a few years ago when I wanted to buy a second C910 for work, and only the C920 was available.

The C910 has a 5Mpixel sensor, confirmed through Linux and directly querying the device capabilities. The C920 had a 3Mpixel sensor, which I found from a review at the time. This is why Logitech hide the sensor Mpixels data from you.

  • is this better than current macbook pro camera?

  • I bought C922 actually $114 from amazon after almost bought this one, I feel $15 more is acceptable.

  • +1

I'm pretty sure I paid $99 for this 10 years ago hahaha. C920 is the OG and I'm surprised webcams have not improved that much in the 1080P realm.

    • if only you bought $99 worthy of bitcoins

  • +2

I remember buying this for $60 so many years ago.

  • I have owned and used this camera for 4+ years, high quality, very easy to use and setup, hasn't missed beat, 600+ hours of use.

    • what software to use to adjust settings?

  • +1

I bought this exact Webcam for another computer in Aug 2020 (also from Officeworks) for $159!!!!

    • At the peak of C19 shortages.. I didn't end up paying too much more than the price here, but I remember many places having it for $229.
