    The profit margins must be huge for webcams, for retail $150 you can pickup phones that have decent cameras nowadays.

      This. Mate of mine uses a old phone as a dash cam until a good hardwire deal.

      You can get a cracked Samsung use it as a camera.

          Stored away during non-driving periods (i.e. parking) but yeah there is a fire hazard with summer approaching.
