Historically Zoolz is in my bad service provider book.
The cloud storage service they provided in the past was disappointing:
    - Kept on changing plan structure
    - Unstable and unresponsive software
    - Technically incapable tech support
    - Eventually shutdown the plan I was on without clear and beneficial migration plan.

Zoolz don’t deserve another chance… former customer, I was never unwise enough to risk important data on them

    Nov 2015
Purchased "Zoolz Cold Storage: Lifetime Subscription". 1TB of storage "forever".

    Sept 2020
"It is with deep regret that we inform you, effective immediately, our consumer service, Zoolz Home, will be discontinued in order to allow us to fully focus on the business and organization cloud backup market."

    Nov 2020
"Final Notice: Your data will be deleted in 5 days"

I will also note that it took ages to back data up to their cloud storage, and was also incredibly slow to retrieve data from it. So slow, there would have been no way I could have transferred data out of Zoolz from when they notified they were shutting things down to when they deleted the data. Fortunately I was purely using it as redundant backup (backup of a backup of a backup) so it didn't really matter, and I did have it for five years which is longer than I thought it might last (I usually figure if a 'lifetime subscription' lasts for longer than 2 years I'm in front).

    TLDR:
    1. If you want to give this a go, I'd recommend testing their service first to make sure the performance matches your expectations; and
    2. Take some time to absorb their fine print specifically the one the states "Zoolz reserves the right at any time to modify, suspend, or discontinue providing the Service, in whole or in part, without notice. While not obligated to do so, Zoolz will use commercially reasonable efforts to notify you of any such action by sending you an e-mail, an in-client message or by posting relevant information on the Site."

      Same experience with Zoolz

The name "G Cloud" and the choice of font on the promo materials really makes me feel like they're trying to trick people into thinking it's a Google-associated service, but keep it non-explicit enough to have plausible deniability. Reeeeeeally dodgy.

    • Wouldn't have realised if I didn't read the comments. Very deceiving, from what looks like a shady company

    • Yeah - the business is Genie9 so no doubt the "G" refers to that but gotta think they are getting calls from the Google lawyers. They used AWS when I was using their services, and they clearly state they still use it…. Interestingly on their website, under products, they don't mention "G Cloud", but in the "Products" drop down list they do still say "Zoolz Cloud Backup - Backup and archive your data for life". Hmmm.

    Subscription to G Cloud

    Any strings ?

  • Zoolz are thieves you shouldnt trust with ur data as noted by others. Same story here

  • FWIW As an aside, you can subscribe to actual Google "Google One" for $24.99 per annum and get 100GB storage. One year rather than three, sure, but probably faster access (not sure about this update, but Zoolz used to use Amazon Glacier cold storage), a few extras, and the plug is unlikely to suddenly be pulled….
