  • Too much to ask for MaxV version in black and combo and the same price? :D

    • +1

I got the S7+ for around $1400, very happy with it so far.

I can see the maxv offering a few extra features: greater suction, self washing/refill and better obstacle avoidance would be handy. However, the s7maxv doesn't appear to be bagless, so will need to refill dustbag regularly.

  • Minimal benefits of spending $1500 compared to spending $500.

Put the $1000 towards a holiday or new car.

      • My ECOVACS DEEBOT N8 Robot Vacuum works fine .. ToF laser .. maps rooms .. app works fine .. mopping works fine .. mapped floor cleaning not random paths .. etc

Robot vaccums are good .. but really no need to overspend for neglibile benefit.

The Verdict: Roborock S7 Is The Costlier But Better Performing Robot
Even with the higher price tag, the Roborock S7 is the better option between the two if you prioritize vacuuming and mopping performance

That's the whole reason to buy a robot vac isn't it?

          • @Homerlovesbeer: yea .. not going to disagree … these are marginal differences .. dont overthink the robot vacuums and dont pay too much for a 3% improvement .

            • @matt-ozb: You didn't get a bin with yours either did you? I think that's the big cost difference.

              • @Homerlovesbeer: no .. but the bin? seriously? .. it takes 10 seconds to empty direct from the robot .. not worth paying hundreds $$$ for a bin.

yes .. i guess without the bin it is still a $1000 to $500 comparison.

                • @matt-ozb: Horses for courses. A small home with tiles or wood floors then an N8 would be fine. Larger home with carpet and pets then that's when a more expensive T9 becomes justified.

For us an N8 would be a complete waste of $500 for me as it just isn't able to do what I would want it to do to justify getting a robovac at all in the first place.

I have the T9+ with empty station. Biggest benefit is that I can schedule the whole house to be cleaned every 2-3 days and I don't ever have to touch it. After I set it up it just does its thing while I'm at work. All I do is the regular roller/brush clean and empty the bin every once in a while. I never have to open the app, start it or do anything else.

My house is 29sq, I need to do it in 3 sections because the small bin inside the robot gets clogged up if I try to do it all at once. So I schedule one section, then it goes to the bin dock to empty, then it does the next scheduled section, etc. Couldn't do that without the bin.

The increased battery size of the T9 is also just about perfect for our size home and it has almost the exact amount of juice I need to do the whole house on full power, just. By the time the whole house is done there is only 15% or so battery left, so it only just avoids the automated return to dock charge when it gets to 10%.

crazy prices, bin is an eyesore and you still need to empty it. bonkers

    • The bin can last up to 7 weeks without changing. Hardly an issue.

  • That is hella expenno.

Viomi s9 all the way, even the Roidmi Eve plus if you want something different.

I've seen these on marketplace for $300 almost brand new.

S5 Max at the $500-550 is probably the best bang for your buck.

    • +1

Agreed the S5 Max is very good but for mopping the S7 is better plus the bin really is fantastic (the S5 can't use it).

    • Haven't looked, but it seems to have been a while since those prices.

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

I don't think people really understand just how good this is with the bin and that it's one of the best, if not the best, robotic vacuums with mopping functionality you can buy.

Considerably better mopping then the S5 Max and the bin is genius.

    • +1

Yeah it's great, the dock works way better than most others. There is a new one coming out soon too, the S7 maxv Ultra. I think I'm getting a review model so hopefully will get to give it a crack.

  • This or the Viomi S9?

      Is this 3x better? no.

    this or a Tesla 3?

Tesla 3 is lousy at mopping

  • What is the s7+ vs t9+? I have carpeted rooms and tiled living spaces. im considering going the s7… both almost same price

    • +1

I went through all these comparisons last year. I ended up going the t9+ and had it about a year now.

      • S7 has smarter, more efficient navigation, but the T9 has better object detection.
      • S7 can lift the mop when going onto carpet. The T9 won't go on carpet at all with the mop attached. In saying that though, even with the mop lifted there will be moments on the S7 where the wet mop will be dragged on the carpe so maybe not that big a benefit.
      • T9 has dual side brushes, S7 only has 1. I like the dual because it gives you a wider cleaning path.
      • Both have the same battery size and similar run time, but because S7 has better navigation you will most likely get more coverage in a single charge.

I would actually say that the S7 is probably the better performing vacuum of the 2, but with better object detection I believe the T9 is the better user experience vacuum. I can run it without having to worry about 'robo proofing' my house as much. With that in mind we went with the T9.
