Have been thinking of getting one for garden use. The price is good but not sure about the brand.

    It's a miracle - 1,680 lumens out of 18 watts.

And while we're in that parallel universe - 6-7000K of harsh blue-white light camping…you're kidding right?

    • +3

90 lumens per watt is pretty reasonable?

What's wrong with '1,680 lumens out of 18 watts'? Nothing exceptional about it I think. There are lights out there with 2000 lumens out of 20 watts so 100 lumens per watt.

6-7000K is a problem inside not outside though.

Not really a deal considering it's been so much cheaper before

    • Good to know. It was slightly cheaper (4.00USD). I had the conversion wrong so fixed it now.

      • BG are certainly pushing products out to some people at higher prices now.

    • Unsure how I've missed these (given my checking ozb obsession), but prices you're shown are great comparably, would be pulling the trigger at $27AUD. Time to set myself an alert by the looks.

Edit: looks like the bangood reviews answer my question. Can anyone inform me if these will work with a powerbank (20,000 with PD)?

      • As per the Q&As it does.

      • The lack of detail on the power supply required is worrying. I can see it needing a non-standard mode e.g. QC3 to operate.

        • Since the power is only 5V/2A max it can only go to 10W and not 18W like it claims. As was mentioned in the last deals.

      • Yes works with Pbank, has one from previous deal. Useful for night garden party..

  • Does the usb cable mean it could run off a battery pack?

    • Correct.

      • Thanks.

  • I have a similar one and they do run off "some" powerbank and not other. Still unsure why.

    • The USB C Power Delivery standard has varying voltages that it negotiates, your lower end powerbank may offer out 5v, 9v, 15v however if this light wants the full 20v and your powerbank doesn't support 20v it will fall into that category of "some" powerbanks that don't work. Hope that helps.

**I take all of this back, this thing has USB A on it so none of what I said would factor into it.

      • No you're actually close, USB A can supply up to 22V through the formerly common Qualcomm Quick Charge standards. It was such a common standard that it's very likely that any power bank today that supports fast charging will support QC.

This light is plain vanilla 5V with no negotiation at all though, so any power bank should work. Not sure why OP had power banks that didn't.

  • 6500K-7000K That's very white, so white I'm thinking it might be a bit blue. Camping I would prefer 4500K-5500K, but most cheap LEDS are on the bright white side.

  • Im actually wondering if you would be better off with a smaller pair of studio lights that are dimmable and you can vary the colour temp. https://www.amazon.com.au/Conference-Photography-Continuous-…

    • Haven't tried that one, but I'm pretty sure it won't be as bad as the Xanes. :)

I just measured mine, it's 6452K at a paltry 73CRI. Not surprisingly, skin tones look pale and lifeless.

Power draw was just 7.75W at 5.1V. The leds are connected straight to the +/-5V USB lines through current-limiting resistors, no QC negotiation of any kind so it will run with any powerbank that is capable of putting out at least 1.5-1.6A.

    It definitely isn't 1680 lumens.

    • How did you measure the K and CRI?

      • I used an X-Rite spectrophotometer.
