I have these speakers, and they are excellent for the price-point and would recommend them in a heartbeat.

However, one of the significant benefits of the BTS version is the optional sub-out. With that in mind, the Voll Audio S8 is also a strong quality-vs-price and very well-made sub that really compliments these speakers. It is also one of the more commonly suggested upgrades after the briefest of searches!

Also which is on sale for $179 from $250 on the official site which is the same price as their refurb s8

  • Very tempted even though I don’t need them. This audio expert gives them a big thumbs up.

  • They're great speakers for the price. I had the non "s" version (no sub out and BT 4) for quite a while until the upgrade itch became too much.

Keep an eye on the very similar R1855DB too. I got that at Christmas for $139 thanks to this deal.

  • I noticed r2750db goes on sale for $190 ish semi regularly would it be worth waiting for that?

  • +1

I got them for $149.99 in May last year. I also got a free pair of their W280BT headphones with them. The speakers are great and I love how they angle up towards the person at the desk, but I would have preferred they were in black. Also got a Jamo A3SUB.1 to plug into them which is a bit of overkill for a desk, but oh well.

    • Damn what a free headphones too?

  • Good for TV paired with a sub or would a soundbar around $500 be better?

    • Would a $500 soundbar be better than a $190 set of speakers?

      • I don't know, that's why I'm asking mate. I did immediately edit the post to include a sub - so factoring in the that as a set it's $370 speakers vs $500 soundbar (likely to be 3.1).

          A few considerations.

A soundbar left and right speakers are not far enough to the side of nearly every big tv, so most soundbars are not physical stereo. Soundbars are a collection of tiny speakers and a big fat sub. On a technical level you are missing so much range, and generally soundbars have low quality speakers too.

A $370 set of speakers will technically be and sound better than a soundbar. Please consider edifier s3000pro though, as they have huge amounts of bass for not having a sub, incredibly high quality tweeters that nail dialogue, sound perfect for everything straight up without requiring tuning or profile switching like you need to do on soundbars.

          • @onlinepred: Always +1 for the s3000pro but they retail for about a grand and you'll have to be lucky (and patient) to get them for under $700. I paid $730 a few months ago and I'm very happy.

            • @MisterTree: Pre covid they were regularly under $600, I think I paid $560 About 12 months ago. Even at $800 I still think they are worth it. Incredible speakers.

  • These are back to $229 but there is a $30 coupon - so you can still get them for $189.99.

      Ummm, that'll be $199 :)

  • Does anyone know how is it compared to the soundbar https://www.amazon.com.au/Yamaha-Soundbar-Built-subwoofer-Vi…

The soundbar is not available now though.

    • Got mine delivered today. Very happy with them especially at this price point. At some stage I’ll whack a sub with it but these are fine for now.
