I'm in the same boat. Wife not happy and wants me to sell :( In all fairness though some of the first generation of connected speakers (eg B&W A5 Airplay speaker) are a bit useless when they only support 2.4Ghz networks and don't seem very stable.
I love my sonos play 3. Will keep them till their last breath unless i can find some cheap play 5 2nd or 3rd gen, then ill flip them on FB marketplace.
I have everything wired so not fussed much about wireless

Good enough for a TV? My old plasma TV's in-built speakers have started crapping themselves at moderate volumes (it's either this, or figure out how to build a 3.1 audio system) - concerned if the lack of centre speaker will be detrimental though
I would think so. I was using the very similar R1700BT for TV driven by a PC and they were fine. These allow you to add a sub at some point too.

Probably a downgrade since this speaker is 2.0, yours 2.1 (with subwoofer)
no way a downgrade at all it would be a massive improvement except no boomy bass.
Got a Z623 from JB for $50 display unit.
