Hard Drive for backup - need a deal

I need to find an external hard drive for backing up my laptop. I would say a mid capacity, 4tb or over. I'm not familiar if there are any sales or specials at the moment..

My MSI laptop got stuck in an aptio loop (for some reason it BSOD'd after I tried connecting a hdmi to it) and I managed to get out of it by letting the laptop die off power and fully restart it.
So I definitely need to back it up if this happens again. I haven't touched the hdmi port since.

Any suggestions on the best drive for a system backup, ie. An image and also the files on my hard drives.

Quite a few posted by searching tags as scrimshaw has mentioned.

For back up, think about you these options:
1. Portable HD
2. 3.5" HD and buy your own USB enclosure (if you're only backing up at 1 location)
