Viomi S9 UV Alpha Robot Vacuum w/ Auto Empty Station $519 Delivered @ Panmi

90
CF-80-S9

I used the without UV version bought for $600 in deal from OzB. Two units didn't last even 8 months in succession. But the customer care was super in replacing them and finally refunding for the second time.
The unit is good as my friends are using it for a while now without issues. Mop functions stopped working for me every time.

Good product for someone want to buy at this price.

Do I read correctly that you're recommending this product after two returned failed units and a third with a non functioning mop?

  • +2

Recommending because of functions and price point and working units that my friends have. Also, good customer care.

There r few people like me for whom certain brands just don't last.

Just sharing the info that I have for anyone to take decisions.

i wouldn't recommend something which i need to return twice, doesn't matter how good is the customer service

I have one of these which used to be for 499 earlier through Panmi. Have had it for over 6 months. functioning perfectly without any issues. Love the fact that I dont have to empty the unit everytime. Highy recommend.

Mine is still going strong after 3 months, but I've never tried the mop as I have a good old irobot Scooba for that (although the scooba's battery is dying). My main complaint with this v9 alpha is the mapping software is garbage. It'll freak out and reset maps with the slightest provocation, which deletes any room-based schedule you may have set. You also don't get push notifications when the docking station hopper is full, nor anything obvious in the app. You have to go stand in front of the unit when it unloads to see what it says on screen on the dock. It will keep trying to unload even when the hopper is full, too. Not sure if that's a bug or a feature really.

    • I have been wondering why it hasn't yet told me to empty mine. Was expecting it o. But it does still empty the catcher fully each time. I have been checking.

And TBH, mine cleans exactly the same as Xiaomi gen1 which I had before this with better mapping capabilities. No complaints at all unless I am missing any major upgrades from other models.

I'm so glad to read this is not just me!!! The vacuum is bloody brilliant and the auto-emptying is flawless. But the mapping software and app… OMG it is a sh!tshow! I've had to reset mine consistently, and if you want to run it over the area more than once, it has a 'repeat' function that needs to be selected every time you vacuum. My Roborock SV6 Max would allow me to run the vac over an area(s) up to 3 times and it would save that setting each time.

I do believe the Viomi has a better camera and detection sensors though, so unlike my Roborock, the Viomi will at least pick up on new obstacles and not try to ram it's way through. But despite the glitchy software, the auto-emptying station is the killer function for me, so I need to take the good with the bad.

But the map software? The maps are bad on the Viomi…

      • Yeah the auto emptying was a must have feature for me when deciding to upgrade from the roborock s50. I liked the s50's mapping much better, but with three cats in the house an auto-empty was the clincher. No idea if the UV thing is too weak/passes too fast to do anything and is just a gimmick, or if it actually is possibly sterilising any bugs coming from a little bit of tracked kitty litter. I figure if it works, great. If it doesn't, it's not why I got it anyway.

        • Its like trade off between better maps, empty station, dynamic map update with new obstacles, price point and cleaning functionality.
With the kind of service Viomi has to offer on table, I think its not bad. I have ordered it again - waiting for it. Now that I know, if it goes faulty, company is there to support and that gadget is not shoddy.

      • I was having a lot of problems with the mapping resets when I first got it. I think it initially happened after I picked it up and moved it during a run. Later on it happened a few times without me touching it, I assumed it might have been the kids playing with it when I wasn't looking.

I have since moved the dock to a quiet area where the kids can't see it or play with it anymore. Since then I haven't had any map resets. It seems like its a bit sensitive to being moved around (itself and dock) so I just make sure the dock stays put and that it doesn't get interrupted during its run and its been ok ever since.

Unfortunately, that's not the case for mine. I live alone and it's never physically relocated. It just has little episodes every now and then.

        • my mapping works fine, it never crashed since I got in xmas2021 deal (using on ios iphone app)…dock is not moved kept at same place since started using first time.
I like the auto dirt disposal and UV feature…
I wish suction power bit more,,, but 2700pa is still more than roboroc s7+ of 2500pa…
at this pricepoint n feature set … very good product …recommend this
no regret except the new model alpha 2 pro(4000pa suction) might come soon in Australia

  • $20 increase on all time low.
    That inflation rate is real.

After research i went for the alternative Roidmi Eve Plus for $569 through kogan thanks to a $400 credit that was burning a hole in my wallet, although that's now increased in price. Has been ever reliable though.

If i didn't have the credit, would've opted for this model.

  • had issues with the water tank but they sent a replacement, super helpful!

I still think the Roborock s50 is still the king of robot vacuum cleaners..

Thanks OP! Been waiting for a discount on this. Any recommendations on where get replacement bags?

    • +1

eBay or AliExpress - there are heaps of sellers

    • +1

I ordered some off Panmi a few weeks back, they weren't much more than ebay, but I figured they'd have more chance of being genuine. Of course, they still haven't shipped, but the V9 itself came with a few spare bags that I haven't used all of, and I also just manually pulled all the fluff out of one to see how hard it would be to empty a full one to reuse it. It wasn't that hard.
