      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

      • Thanks for commenting, sound bored

        • As opposed to the extreme excitement you are showing by reading then proceeding to comment at 10pm on a Friday night? Lol

  • +2

Frustrating, they dont seem to make a 32-34 monitor thats not curved.

    • M34wq, fairly solid monitor, reading edge to edge is kinda weird and sometimes distracting

  • 3 Questions if someone could help it would be amazing:

    1) Why the certainty that Dell prices will increase from this point on?

    2) I have seen a few jokes but really is the 5 year warranty worth it? What does it offer for $20 that the standard one does not, I imagine panel uniformity would be determined early on, so it wouldn’t help with that?

    3) I have been eyeing off the S2721DGF but think I’m ready to make the jump to 32-34 inch but I can’t see an equivalent monitor for this model?

I’m not firm on IPS but I do not want a curved panel. My main requirements are min 1440p (pref more), 144hz + and G-sync compatible.

    Any suggestions?

      M32Q

Gsync compatible as tested by rtings

Or the M32U (4K) for double the pixels, double the price

        • +1

Happy to push the budget a little but I think we are 2 years away from these becoming more affordable.

      • That’s heaps, seems on par with the S2721DGF.

But looks like QA is hit and miss after doing some reading, so I’ll have to think about it.

I’m not in a huge rush, anyone know if is there potential for a 32” version of the S2721DGF to come out down the track?

      • Do you know if the M32Q works to charge/power and provide full res and refresh rate output for a Nitro 5 Laptop with Thunderbolt 4?

        • Nitro 5 doesn't support charging through TB4.

          • @CVonC: Ah that sucks, whats the point of the little lightning bolt then? It just does picture?

    • I guess it could be hard to find the old model which I have, but still more than happy with my S3220DGFs.. ticks all the boxes and great for productivity cad and 3s modelling too. Maybe the equivalent to those:)

  • Any good gaming laptop deals?

    • Check the recent Lenovo deals

  • Any chance we can bring back the S2721DS for $249? :)

  • Can we get a confirmation on the cooling used on the XPS Desktop? The images suggest it's liquid, but the listing on Dell's Australian website suggest this model would probably have an air cooler.

    • Whatever it is it's not going to be good enough. I've never seen one that provided adequate cooling. Even the new Aurion desktops are insufficient according to reviews. Not just a little bit. For example, the R13 i9 processor clicks 22000 in cinebench 23 multicore on the Dell cooler and 27000 on aftermarket coolers. Huge amount of throttling.

      • But this is a 12700… it's already throttled.

        • You are talking about locked and unlocked processors. Throttling happens because a processor gets too hot so runs at a lower frequency than it's designed to. For example instead of 4.9Ghz it runs at 3.9Ghz. That is an issue with all Dell systems unfortunately and has not been solved on the new systems either.

          • @[Deactivated]: PL2 is reduced and the turbo clock is lowered. It's comparatively throttled.

A 120mm AIO would do an OK job here, especially with the substantially better case design and fan placement.

Really happy with the picture quality of the S2721DS (got it for 289) which i mostly use for media.
Strongly considering the 144hz one for my primary screen now.

  • Does S2421HN have inbuilt speakers?

    • Nope

  • Dell has been a failure recently in the laptops department, and is slowly becoming a monitor company

  • Are the only USB-C options the S2722DC & S2722QC? Single cable video & charge for MacBook Air sounds compelling :0

    • It’s the best
Once you start using this setup you won’t want to go back

      • That's why I'm considering it too for easy plug and play for WFH. And using my personal hp spectre x360 given it has a thunderbolt.

The only downside is these dells unlike Samsung USB C versions don't seem to have a dp out port so you can't daisy chain to a second monitor can you? Real shame or am I wrong?

P.s. what's the diff between the two models listed above? DC and QC? I can only see QC with larger RRP but rest seem similar?

        • Q = 2160p and D=1440p

          • @random-guy: yeah sorry i didn't read that part well just on my laptop now and can see the difference.

Is a 4k on a 27" too small a screen that everything will be too small? I thought a 2k on a 32" was meant to be ideal and for some abit small, but wouldn't a 4k on 27" be very small? And if you scale in display settings in window you'd be offsetting having 4k? or is it actually easier to see on the 4k vs the 2k?

            • @SaberX: Definitely go 4k on 27+ screens. If you only have 2k 27 you would believe it is okay, but once you get a 4k 27 and do the comparison it's very noticeable.

              • @random-guy: are you talking about quality of picture? but resolution wise isn't it very small to see for most without scaling for common text and the like?

                • @SaberX: 2k for 27", 4K for 32". It depends on what you use anyways, excel and word scales fine but certain programs are still locked to 1080p, so running them at 4K means the icons are tiny.

                • @SaberX: I don't think the high resolution is an issue. I use it at 150% scaling

      • True, USB C makes the desk real nice and clean. . really happy with 2722QC. and I am using this monitor with MacBook pro. it does scale up to 175% but looks real nice and crisp. you will like it.

  • +1

    Thanks DB.

I thought we were getting the S2421HS. guess ill settle for the HN

    • What's the main difference between the two? It seems the HN is a brighter screen?

      • +4

I think that's an error in the eBay listing. Dell website and other sources list them both as 250 cd/m².

The only differences seem to be the input connectors and the stand.

S2421HN has 2 x HDMI ports and comes with a stand capable of forward/backward tilt only.

S2421HS has 1 x HDMI port + 1 x DisplayPort and comes with a stand capable of height adjustment, left/right swivel, landscape/portrait pivot and forward/backward tilt.

At 20% off the S2421HS should come down to $189 so only $20 more than the S2421HN.

        S2421HN S2421HS
        HDMI x2 x1
        DisplayPort - x1
        Height adjustment No Yes
        Left/right swivel No Yes
        Landscape/portrait pivot No Yes
        Forward/backward tilt Yes Yes

          Thanks HA

  • I got one U2515 from work and S2721QC, personally I think the U series which was launched in 2015 still better than the S series in 2022.

  • Anyone do music production, and have a rough idea what monitor 32-34" is better as a work station mainly used with MIDI Sequencer Software?

    • +1

I use a 32" 4K and it's perfect. I also do some video editing and it's great for that too.

  • Anyone experience with the Dell U3818DW vs AW3821DW?

How does it compare colour wise? And can your laptop handle the load of using an ultrawide as an external monitor?

  • Dumb question but will the code work for anything from the dell store or only the items the OP listed in the bullet points?

    • +1

Usually select items not everything. I don't recall seeing it for accessories for example.

  • Can someone tell me whats new about the S2722DGM? Thanks!

  • What's the difference, other than the curve, between the S2722DGM and the S2721DGF?

    Cheers

    • +2

I believe VA vs IPS is the main difference.

  • Looking for a quality business monitor for browsing, word/excel mostly and prefer 20" to 24" screen sizes as they take up less desk space.

Would the Dell 24 Monitor: S2421HN Full HD 1080p 75Hz AMD FreeSync IPS HDMI be a decent upgrade from an Apple Cinema Display 23-Inch (Aluminum) M9178LL/A - A1082 ?

  • any HDMI 2.1 with g-sync/freesync?

  • Are any of these 4k?
How do they compare to Gigabyte M32U? Looking for a 32" 4k monitor, ideally >60hz

    • None of these fit your requirements.

    • What makes the alienware monitor so much more expensive compared to m32u if its not 4k? is it just the slight greater screen real-estate from of 38" compared to 32"?

      • The S3221QS is a 32" 4K monitor but 60Hz and VA panel.

      • HDR600, overall larger screen and it has an actual gsync module

  • +1

Do I need 2 S2721DGF or should I wait for a cheaper 27" to use for my 2nd monitor? The colours would match more closely though. But don't know if I need 2 high refresh rate monitors!

    • +1

      just do it mate haha

      • Lol I kept thinking about it and trying to find out if I can daisy chain them and then after a long time I realized I can just plug them both into the video card!

Was trying to convince myself that I don't need 2 monitors together and I would be happier spending it on a nice pair of bookshelf speakers!

    • +1

Pretty much my situation too. I upgraded one of my old 21" monitors to the S2721DGF a few months back and now want to replace the other old 21". A second 2721DGF would be nice purely from a symmetry basis, but realistically I only need one fast monitor for gaming.

I am tossing up going with the S2721QS and saving $60. From the pictures it has a similar bezel and I honestly I don't need two monitors loaded up with a bunch of USB ports, one is enough.

      edit: $60

      • +1

Same boat but I bought 2nd s2721dgf for OCD lol

        • Haha yeah the s2721ds look too different and colours look too different out of the box too. Now tempted again especially when they said prices will go up.

      • I actually have a s2721ds as well but the colours are so different and prefer the image quality of the s2721dgf. But won't game on 2 monitors together and definitely don't know if I will be more productive with 2 monitors, lol.

  • S2722DZ is $480 with cash reward ordered Dell's website.

  • Any DQHD monitors discounted?

  • Is the XPS desktop any good? Does it over-heat, tempted to replace my HP Elitedesk G6 i7-10700

    • If I didn't already have a new desktop I would buy it. Replacing the cpu cooler might be an annoyance, but not too hard. Just get a decent tower cooler. No matter what cooler dell gives you, an aftermatket one would be better.

      • from the pics it seems the cooler is a water cooler?

        • Non-K do not come with the premium coolers and even the vrm is usually not covered with heatsink. This will be air for sure.

  • In general should one in 27" or 32" QHD tend to get a IPS rather than VA panel for better quality? Or is VA panels sought after for any reasons??

  • Any good Dell laptop deals other than the 2in1?

  • Are USB C monitors only for laptops or can I power it via my PC?

    • It can power your laptop

      • i think wonderboy meant whether you can not have a power cable.

no, the monitor needs AC power and then it charges your laptop

it would have no effect power wise on your PC

        • Yeah I watched a youtube review on the S2722QC that said you can use the USB C cable to reduce clutter but didn't go into detail.

  • I currently have a 1080p monitor and a second 1440p monitor.

I hate that dragging windows between the screens is jarring on PC.

Is this problem only apparent when using different res monitors or does it also occur on different sized (inches) monitors?

Second question: are any of these monitors/features more condusive to using a multi PC setup? (Easy switching from one PC to another using the same monitors.

    • diff res monitor. Itll be due to the DPI differences. If you had a small and large monitor but matched the DPI, then it would be the same.

      HDMI switches.

  • Excellent price on the S2722DC, thanks so much OP!

I'd probably grab the QC if my GPU was good enough for 4k gaming, but 1440p should be great on a 27".

    • Can a standard integrated inbuilt Intel gfx card on a laptop (have a 2019 HP spectre x360) handle a 4k 27" monitor plus a second monitor of say 4k or 2k? Just wondering if I should stick to 2k if 4k will cause issues on a 27" or 32 " size. Would be less worried if my laptop had a dedicated gfx card but unfortunately not.

  • Dealbot, any chance of S2421HS as opposed to S2421HN? Need the height adjustment.

  • any laptop is good for lightroom and photoshop? thanks

  • argh unlucky didnt get 1299 for aw38 :(

  • Anyone got any experience with the warranty process for Dell stuff on ebay (mostly interested in monitors)? I assume you can go straight to Dell but hoping someone can confirm.

      You get direct dell support

Got the S2722DC! Looking forward to it, haven't bought a new monitor in around 9 years now.

    Thanks for organising this dealbot.

Great monitor, i got one last time this deal was posted. You'll enjoy it.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed the AW3821DW 5 seconds after 10am!

Proud new owner of S3422DWG, glad I didn't jump on the Xiaomi deal.
    Cheers DB.

  • I want to use S2721DGF with another monitor like the S2722DC.

Can anyone recommend a docking station to support me connecting both to two computers? or is there another monitor i can get that will support daisy chaining with the DGF which doesn't require a hub?

    • I was looking into it and if you daisy chain it or use a hub I think you might lose the high refresh rate capability of it because of bandwidth issues?

  • Thanks OP, picked up the S2722QC!

  • Thanks OP - snagged myself a S2722DC to go with my S2721D that I picked up about 9 months ago for a similar price.

  • ok tempted me into buying the 2722qc, figure I can claim another 30% off from wfh tax.

  • For anyone interested S2721QS also on sale.
No idea how to update this deal so all of them are available on the same page. So.

    Thanks dealbot bought the S3422DWG

  • other than 4k anything else qc does better than dc?

  • +1

    S2722DC $319
    S2722QC $369

$50 worth to go for 4K? Would text be too small to read at native resolution? Or do you scale the desktop to 150%?

    • One of my friends has the previous model of the 4K one and says it's really good.

Native always looks better than scaling regardless, but still seems to be great for 4K. 27" is big enough to warrant it (only slight downside is if you're gaming and your GPU can't handle 4K too well, so dropping the resolution won't look as nice compared to the 1440p monitor)

      • Can your integrated Intel gfx handle two monitors If you hook up one or both monitors at 4k? For desktop tasks. Browsing. Netflix the normal non gaming that is.
