Book of Boba Fett Is It Just Me or Is It Boring Af

'possible' SPOLIER WARNING

I really enjoyed the Mandalorian S1 and S2 but i just finished watching episode 4 Book of BF and literally im bored. In all 4 episodes i've felt the story has dragged, i dont mind the 'western' feel to it but dead set the pacing is terrible and im wondering if it is just me or is anyone else thinking this is another flaming hot pile of garbage disney starwars has put out?

updated - so i after watching the whole season now got to say SUPER disappointing but that is becoming a consistent theme with Disney star wars. I like the 2 Episodes where Mando was the main character.

overall they ruined Boba Fett made him and idiot, almost every decision he made was dumb, to many characters has 'plot armour' (kind of like GOT last seasons)

If you want me to be frank the Book of Boba Fett would of been better 'without' Boba Fett - 3/10

Certainly been slow to take off. Now talking spoilers….

The Mandalorian did an excellent job at making the Tuskans more civilised/human and now Boba's backstory has been amazing. I could watch a whole season of Boba and the Tuskans. The Sarlaac scene was also great and really did the fans justice.

Now notice the Mandalorian theme at the end of Ep4? Good chance Mando is going to make a guest appearance. Besides the first 4 episodes have basically shown everything from the trailer and this has all been the setup, especially with Boba being healed now from the bacta. I think it's going to pick up now.

i hope it 'ends strong' but so far bar the train heist episode ive found it boring. Perhaps im not a fan of what they have done to the character.

instead of a money driven ruthless bounty hunter they are painting him to be a bit of a anti hero which i dont like - not everyone is a 'bloody' hero and i wanted a story about a crime boss ex bounty hunter who kills for his benefit. I prefer Boba to be the villain he should be i think modern day movies/tv has an issue with soon as someone gets popular we have have them be 'truly evil' he is essentially a completely different character to the character in the movies which i find odd bcuz Jango and Boba in the movies was bad ass.

      • Dude, Boba had effectively zero character development in the original films. There was nothing to indicate him as a bad ass. Boba was horribly incompetent actually and bested by a half blind Han Solo

        • -1

Jango Fett was painted to be a money hungry expert killer and is the reason his 'genetics' were used for the clone troopers

Boba is painted to be the same as he is a direct clone

in this show he is nothing like that - matter of fact id argue he is the opposite of the character in the movies Boba would of simply killed everyone and took bounty

        • Agreed, all we saw was Boba tech tracking someone and falling into a pit. The toughest thing we saw from him was being dumb enough to whine at Vader and for some strange reason Vader not getting triggered and dusting him. His armor and name was cool enough to have a gazillion kids with action figures provide some home character development they now expect translated to the screen.

It’s boring AF. My daughter even said episode 4 was boing. She was really getting into it for the first 3 but this latest one was very slow and lacklustre.

I just want to see what sand people look like underneath all those rags

    • +1

You're not going to like what you see.

  • I found it disjointed and just a bit bland, having Boba as an ex bounty hunter being a philosopher after time with the sand people just doesn't seem right, He's too passive and weak

Star Wars EU has been creatively bankrupt since Legends, and Disney is desperate for ideas to adapt into streaming content. Boba Fett has never been a character; he's just a guy in a cool suit who tracks Han Solo, but like every other insignificant background character in Star Wars, he gets 25 novels, 17 comic series, 9 videogames, a 50,000 word entry on Wookieepedia, and now a live-action TV show to detail in exhaustive detail how he escaped the Sarlacc Pit. Because no one dies anymore. One of Filoni's worst decisions was resurrecting Maul in The Clone Wars, so he'll 100% show up in the Obi-Wan show; and I wouldn't put it past them to show Darth Vader surviving the Death Star II in non-Force Ghost form, either.

It's the same reason Star Wars keeps recycling settings. For a supposed backwater that's described as the planet furthest from the centre of the universe, gee, it seems like a lot of big galactic events keep happening on Tatooine, like being the homeworld for both Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. So of course Book of Boba Fett is back there, and we get treated to terrible action scenes of bald, overweight Temeura Morrison awkwardly batting away electrostaffs. TLDR: ranting of a long-suffering Star Wars fan…

    • i agree with you and i too am a long time star wars fan or i was until episode 8

  • I get the sense that this has a tiny budget compared to The Mandelorian, despite having a lot more experience with that LED wall room https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gUnxzVOs3rk

Also Star Wars came out in 1977, if you were a 5 - 15 year old into it at the time then you'd be like 50 - 65 today. The show is kinda meh, but it is introducing a lot of canon about OT material in every episode.

The show reminds me of the TV show Suits, where it all has the dreamlike "feel" of a law office, rather than any kind of reality. And the characters talk to each other like they are in a soap opera.

  • Not boring just average. Seems to be cool for the die hard fans

    What did you expect?
The disney prollfeed machine is working overtime to suck every last dollar they can out of the SW franchise to the point of churning out vapid garbage that nobody wanted nor asked for. Do we really care where Han Solo got his name or dice ornaments from? I haven't bothered with the Boba Fett show because I really don't CARE. He was a character that was used to move the plot forward in ESB and was dealt with in RTJ. AFAIC he was digested in the sarlac and it is is simply incredulous that he pops up decades later with no reasonable explanation…so ***k disney. I also heard a rumour that they resurrected Darth Maul even though he was cut in half and plummeted to death in the universes biggest power reactor. WHY? OK, so he was the franchises first gay sith lord but still. Who cares? It is simply typical of all things 'hollywood' these days, written by talentless kids straight out of school with no new or creative ideas relying solely on the legacy of much more talented writers and artists that went before them decades ago.

OK so occasionally something half-way decent pops up like 'Arcane' or The Expanse' or 'The Great' and even BR Black Lotus wasn't too bad, but they are the exception rather than the norm.

The answer of course is simple, switch off and don't watch anything that is boring, dull, bland or 'woke'. In fact it's probably 'woke' that is responsible for all of the above. /rant

  • are they still flogging the Starwars dead horse?

  • Perhaps the problem is that Mandalorian was so good entertainment, quality and nostalgia-wise, it set the standard, and now everything else in comparison seems kinda bad.

For me, Mandalorian helped recover Star Wars reputation from the bin that it threw itself in with Rise Of Skywalker.

  • Boring, Star Wars is about Space Wizards, Ships, Rescuing self sufficient princesses, Bizarre new aliens and good vs evil. They already milked nostalga and TLJ backlash to the max with Mando. And Mando was essentially about Jedi anyway. Plus Temuera really has too much grandpop vibe to be the edgy Fett people seem to want.

  • Give it up and start watching Yellowstone. You won't regret it

    • worth signing upto stan for?

      • He'll yeah..

I think it's on paramount as well

  • Episode 2 was great loved the whole Tusken tribal cultural ceremonies. The teenage cyberpunk bikie gang in episode 3 was terrible and looked so out of place in the Tattooine setting with their brightly coloured dodgem car bikes.

  • Do we know how many episodes will be for each season?

I plan to wait until at least a couple of episodes are released then binge it.

I did that with mando and it was worth it otherwise the waiting would have killed me.

And then I am guessing a year until next season

        • Then after a couple of weeks Disney will trickle us another Marvel or Star Wars show, possibly just a cartoon. One episode a week, one show at a time. Padded out with recaps, credits and whole episodes where not much happens. Box sets were better value.

@tonka: Damn is getting harder to keep Disney plus. I enjoyed the hot zone but I'm all out so looking for other post apocalyptic and disaster save the world type movies or shows on Disney plus.

I mean tbh it's not that expensive compared to say prime or Netflix but at least prime gives me games every month and a huge library of shows and movies also.

            • @AlienC: For me Disney feels a bit more manipulative, like they're trying to give me only enough stop me cancelling not to make me happy. In contrast Netflix feels like they are trying to create a value product. Dropping whole seasons at a time, not just an episode to keep me subscribed. Some of the Marvel stuff has felt so watered stretching out the content that it became boring and unwatchable, and so much of their content should just be extras.

  • I think you need to watch Robotheads review of the first episode. He explains how Disney has ruined Star Wars, from the stories to the history, there is no continuity from the characters in feature movies 1-6 and rogue one, and the 3 new disasters, the mandalorian and the book of boba can’t remember.

  • I challenge anyone to call E5 boring. Go on, I'll wait.

It was perhaps even better than all the OG Mandalorian episodes. Even without BY.

    • posted this after i watched ep 4 ill check back in after ep 5 - i honestly hope it is good

    • I found it a bit sad. It seemed to wind back 2 years of Mando's character development and affirm him as a bit of a moron. Curious if Ming really did jump down all those boxes at 58yo though.

    • +1

no complaints about Ep5, but it feels like they have forcibly inserted first episode of Mando season 3 into the show, probably to generate some interest.

    • i enjoyed ep 5 still not super keen on the overall and still have issues with how they have written Bobas character

as the above comment said it feels like they put Mando in to build of the credibility of the show becuz so far the show cant stand on its own

      • supposedly the next episode will be Mando visiting Luke/Grogu, can't rememeber if it was confirmed or speculation.

Interesting thing - couple of days before episode 5 I saw someone posted some concept art style drawings on IG of the a silver Naboo starfighter and the Slave 1 side-by-side, and that person reckons it was his/her own fan art, if it wasn't an intentional leak, then the force is strong with that artist :)

Here I was hoping Paz and the Armourer would team up with Mando to go backup Boba. Would love a whole army of Mandalorians behind him.

        One can only dream ;)

        • Paz and the Armorer need to be fed to the Rancor.

  • Found mandalorian boring as hell so haven't even considered this. Most likely boring as well. Most of the new Disney shows are utter rubbish except I did like SEE. Thank God I don't actually subscribe.

    • Isn't See on Apple TV?

      • Yep..my bad..different channel. I would never subscribe to Disney channel. Full of rubbish unless you have kids that watch super hero shows. Even they are getting crap now

  • +1

How bad was the last episode? Dire. Even Grogu couldn't save it.

Instead this video has been the highlight of my week:
    https://twitter.com/mcannatarofilms/status/14900190542534901…

    • I think other then Mandos 2 episodes the series was like a 3/10 - i dont know why they made Boba such an idiot but they ''killed' another epic character imo Disney too scared to write the character they way he should be written 'for the kids' - Star Wars is dead it died then George Lucas Solid it and the movies ended at 6, Luke doesnt turn into an idiot/hermit but marries Mara Jade can we just accept Disney is sjw crap now

the lazy episode had so much bad/lazy writing i dont know even know what to say

  • +1

Such a boring show. He's a buffoon most of the time. Turned off after 3 episodes

    • +1
