Sony A7 II $1279.20, A7C Silver $1999.20, A7 III $1999.20, A7r IV A $3999.20 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

390

JB is having a sale on their Sony cameras. Meh deals on their own but bargain when stack with either:

  1. Current 10% off TCN Teen or Her gift cards,
  2. Price match at Sony store online, buy with Shopback 5% cash back, or
  3. Price match at Sony store online, store in your account's cart to buy during the next factory cashback promotion which happens several times a year, triple stack with whatever CR/SB cash back rate at the time.

P.S. Sony has stopped A7 II and A7C production due to global chip shortage so you won't be able to buy them new once the current stock sold out.

  • Just wondering why the A7C silver is cheaper, because of resale value?
Personally I think its look has character.

May be they have more stock to sell, or some staff made a mistake entering the RRP price for either. I would not look a gift horse in the mouth though, just buy whatever is the best value 😉

    • It's a nice camera, feels great in hand and the silver looks better than tha black

  • Does the price match with Sony stay in the cart indefinitely? Though I’d be worried they’d run out of stock by the time the next cash back promotion comes

    • Don't know about "indefinitely", I bought mine 6 months after price match. A7II and A7C stock will definitely run out because production stopped, but A7R IV A and A7 III models will be selling for a while.

    • I wouldn't rely on that

although the lens I price matched in November and didn't buy is still there in my cart, at the matched price

      • My WF-1000XM4 is still price matched at $330.65 from that Good Guys price a while back.

  • Can we still get Shopback 5% cash back when gift cards are used?

    People still use standalone cameras?

The ILCE7RM4A is the refreshed model with a better screen I think. The ILCE7RM4B has older reviews on it from before the update.

    • Version A is the latest one https://m.dpreview.com/news/8756997638/sony-quietly-updates-…
Sony no longer sell the older version B so you cannot go down the price match path and possible future cash back.

    • Model: xxxxA and B. A has a better screen if it is A7 RIVa.

  • Has anyone got a price match from Sony on the A7C?

    • Submitted the request earlier today but still waiting

      • Just got the price match email today

If anyone is wondering in between A7iii and A7c, my recommendation is that you try them first before making a decision. They are pretty similar in terms of sensor/ image quality, but when it comes to ergonomics, shutter sound, and screen/viewfinder they're vastly different. I've had both but my clear preference is A7iii, then again I take a lot of photos than videos so the handling of the camera, viewfinder quality, and satisfactory shutter sound are crucial to me. If you are primarily a video person and would use the screen instead of the viewfinder, then A7c is a clear choice. I also find that despite being the older model between the two, the popular choice is still A7iii (as I struggled to sell the A7c once I had enough with it. I couldn't find anyone willing to swap an A7iii to my A7c).

    • Agree, noting also that the A7C only have 1 SD card slot which is not preferred by people doing paid photography work.

  • Expired already within 12 hours?

    • It was a one day sale for Sony range.

      • Ah thanks

      • RIP to chances of getting a Sony price match, submitted yesterday and still haven’t received a response

beyond the professionals - does anyone still lug around full size SLRs? Given how good smartphone cameras are now I given up by canon 5d mark ii with 70-200mm lens long ago - my back is ever grateful!

ps. a photo isn’t a photo until you print it :)

    • There are all mirror less?

I think it is pretty obvious by now that phones are good enough for most people, no one here is saying that everyone needs to go out and buy an A7 III.

I find phones good enough for casual wide angle shots but I have no idea why you would compare them to a 70-200? Image quality for phones completely falls apart at that range. Phones can't even reliably utilise their telephoto lenses in anything other than great lighting conditions, often falling back to digital crop on the main camera.

Depends what kinds of photos you take. If it is mostly random snapshots then you will see minor differences at normal viewing distances between a high end smartphone and a fancy camera. If you take photos in low light, action, telephone or shallow depth of field portraits or other challenging conditions, the differences in photo rendering and quality can be vast. There is also the fun factor. Phone photography is pretty boring compared to the experience with a nice camera and lens

    • a camery can get you anywhere you want, but why ppl still buy a mclaren
