Just got the K4V2 with the brown switches via Amazon this afternoon. Love the sound they make and the overall build of the keyboard. Ideally I'd have a key with a bit more resistance, these are depressed very easily, but it's all personal preference I guess.

Did you get the Hot-swap version? If so you can change the switches to something heavier to your preference. For tactiles I highly recommend POM Sunflowers, they are very good.

I've got the K10, absolutely hated the browns on them, swapped them out for the Gazzew Boba U4, absolute game changer in terms of feel.

    • +4

Get the Gazzew Boba U4T switches and replace the brown switches if you want something tactile.

Otherwise lubed Akko Jelly Pinks are amazing linears and cheap as chips if you're looking to save and don't want tactiles.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the U4Ts too.

Although I've currently got some Feker Pandas in my K2. They're not too bad either, so there's another tactile alternative.

        • +1 for the boba u4t. They are so thocking satisfying

  • Anyone know of free shipping to perth from Mwave?

Don’t forget the customs import fees now that Western Australia is a separate country

It’s large enough to be. It’s got enough minerals to be self-funded. A generation ago, eastern Australia made things so there was mutual benefit, but now, trading directly with China, India and Japan would be more lucrative for WA.

  • is this the k2v2? if so, this or the skyloong on aliexpress?

  • How's the wireless for gaming on these Keychrons?

    • Following. I assume they have some latency since their Bluetooth

    • +6

      25.3 ms for Bluetooth
      15.7 ms wired.

      Via rtings

      For reference the G915:
      Latency Wired 1.3 ms
      Latency Receiver 1.9 ms
      Latency Bluetooth 8.9 ms

  • First time poster here, why did the deal expire? Supposed to be up till next month.

Great price, but i prefer the Q1. i love the heft of the keyboard. i have gat black ink v2 lubed with krytox, gmk bow keycaps, durock v2 stabs, tape modded, foam, pc plate, and custom badge.

    • where is the best place to get durock stabs in australia? and the rest of the mods you listed?

      • There are a few keyboard vendors around in aus, the most popular and the ones i like the most are SwitchKeys and DailyClack. Between them you don't really need anything else. I think some other vendors might be cheaper though

      • switch key and dailyclack are good here in australia. though i get my stuff from usa, more selection and availability. my mates moved there and sends a care package to his family all the time. so i sneak my stuff in there and save on shipping cost, lol. he's a legend.

    • 3 times the price though

      • yes cost more, but 10 times better, lol. k2 is good, but i consider that a disposable keyboard. the Q1 is more of a keeper.

  • I have the K1v4. I think the low profile is very hard to type with and easy to typo all the time.

And if you use wireless with RGB light on, the battery can only last for 2 days.

I will not buy a keychron keyboard again just due to the low battery life.

    • RGB LED is probably the culprit?

Other companies also struggle with lighting and battery life. Razer's Pro Type has white backlighting, the battery life drops from "up to 84 hours" with Bluetooth to "up to 12 hours" with backlight on. I put quotation marks because that's the official spec that they listed.

      https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards/razer-pro-type/RZ03-0…

      • but seems Logitech Bluetooth technology can get the keyboard last for days if not weeks.

        • From my understanding they don't do always on backlighting (at least MX Keys seem to use sensors).

Regardless, Logitech boasts "10 days" with backlight and "5 months" without them on for MX keys. How they calculated that, I do not know (my guess is that it's not continuous usage for 10 days or 5 months). I don't think I've heard good things about the backlight on that model either.

Even with sensors and turning the lights off, they still have fair bit of difference on MX Keys.

I had looked up g915 and g915 TKL, 30hrs and 40hrs with lights on for those. I think it shows that battery life with RGB is finicky since TKL model is smaller so you would expect shorter battery life.

Don't get me wrong, I think Logitech is fairly good with wireless stuff (they are reliable and if I were to go for a wireless keyboard, they'd be on my list first). I just think backlighting of any kind is bad for battery life on a keyboard.

Why buy a board like this when you can just buy over hyped custom mechanical keyboards use them for a while then flip them for a profit. Rinse and repeat and make money with money.

Once you realise "end game" is a lie and embrace "forever game" (while metamorphosing into a big dirty flipper) life becomes so much easier and prosperous.

what are you using right now?

Just starting this strategy so using my gateway keyboard. I got a Rama U80 Seq2 on the way but it looks like there will be an over supply of those. They are currently selling for slightly above or near retail price.

My plan is to enter as many raffles as possible while waiting for the Seq2 extras to sell out. Then hopefully I can flip my U80 to someone who is prepared to pay a premium so they don’t have to wait 12+ months for a Seq3 to ship. It’s going to take a few flips to make back my initial investment.
