140x Telfast Generic Fexofenadine (Hayfexo) + 24x Ibuprofen Tabs $28.99 Delivered @ PharmacySavings

300

Hi Ozbargainers,

Thanks for your support over 2021, We sold out of last weeks "deal" really quickly, with Trust ibuprofen being the component of the bundle that caused the deal to be pulled early (we ran out). I had quite a few emails and calls asking for deals on individual components of the kit. It's really hard as some of the items aren't viable to sell individually due to the postage, payment processing, packing, costs outweighing the actual value of the item, making the price we'd have to charge for individual items very unOzbargain.

I understand not everyone has $40-50-60 to drop of meds in a bundle, so I've put a few smaller bundles together and restock some of the lower $ value items in the store. Having said all of that I have also restocked a few of the bundle from last week, for anyone who missed out: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/678450 (I may have to substitute ibuprofen brands, as Trust brand is in low supply)

I've seen these deals for a while but can't really fathom it. Who out there is getting 200 tablet packs of antihistamines? Why?

    • +5

Families with hay fever taking one a day per person for a few months a year. It adds up quick.

    • +1

People take antihistamines frequently/daily for asthma and allergies

    • If I go for the 70 packs, I'll need a new box every 3 months on average. Considering how compact they are and how long expiry is I don't mind buying in bulk. And I'm only buying for 1.

    • -2

I have a 600 bottle of antihistamine. I keep it in the fridge so it lasts longer

    • I need one nearly every day of the year :(

  • Is it safe taking Ibuprofen tablets once every week to cure a hang over?

  • I take one daily, use them before expiry date. buying these bundles is so cheaper.

  • This would've been nice if only I hadn't already ordered 70x Hayfexo two days ago…

    • Same for me mate. Same for me.

  • Got onboard cheers for saving my life and allergies 👌

  • -4

The OP failed to mention that these drugs are made in India.

    The reason is obvious.

    • +4

      The reason is obvious

Obvious? Is it because India has a large pharmaceutical industry, or because it manufactures many of the generics, has economies of scale, has a lower manufacturing cost base, or what?

      • -6

Correction, obvious to everyone except @BigBirdy..

  • -3

With script you can get 90x 400mg ibuprofen made by some rich western country with hardcore product safety regulations for $17.97, or even less if you qualify for a concession: http://tiny.cc/brufen

That's 20c/400mg, while this guy charges 25% more at his standard price for something out of Hyderabad from the back of his truck.

There's a reason these are cheap, yet remarkably still not cheap enough.

We are a PBS approved brick and mortar pharmacy selling TGA approved medicine supplied through an Australian distributor (not directly imported by us) - The same supply chain as used at every other pharmacy in Australia.

I understand that many folks may prefer to purchase medicines made (not just assembled) in Australia or other "western" countries, but I am not sure such supply exists. Many medications are labelled with their distributors address in Australia, this is NOT the location of manufacture and my personal belief is that this somewhat misleads consumers into "thinking" brand X or Y is made in Australia, when this is untrue.

Most medicines do not have country of origin labeling, therefore me disclosing what country an item is manufactured in would be a guess on my behalf or potentially misleading.

If anyone has links to manufacturers who make products in countries from input molecules also made in those countries (deemed by some more acceptable than India or China) and they want us to stock/sell those lines - please shoot me a PM as to where I can source these products for the Ozbargain community. We would much rather support local manufacturing/companies too, but from my research over several years, supply doesn't exist.

      • I've bought your stuff, and it said "Made in India" on the package.

If I'd known it at the time I would never have ordered. That is the material point. Everything else you've said is just static.

Be upfront about your gear by stating country of manufacture - it's on the package for Christ's sake - anything else and you're just playing us for mugs.

        • +1

India is one of the biggest suppliers of pharmaceuticals in the world. Not only do they make boatloads of generic medicines but they also produce a lot of medicines for major Western brands. If you're trying to avoid drugs made in India you are going to be in for a very bad time.

          • -2

@Blokeinhisundies: May be so, but until this guy starts making clear where his are from, then others on here may be misled as I was.

The reason he doesn't list it is because he's perfectly aware that it is relevant to many people, and detracts from his product.

I'm not here to outsource judgement calls with these things, and his opus above carefully avoids the primary issue, and that's ensuring that people are in an informed position before buying his crap.

Pretty straight forward it seems to me.

            • @[Deactivated]: It appears you require pharmaceuticals to not provide a Country of Manufacture. Perhaps you could ask Jason to send yours without packaging?

BTW, many scripted pharmaceuticals are also made in … guess where? I N D I A

              • @BigBirdy: I see why they call you Bird Brain given the quality of your analysis.

My professional advice is to stay away from heavy machinery, always.

            • @[Deactivated]: Not sure why there is so much "this guy" type hate, if the frustration is that I haven't listed country of origin, just ask and I will answer as honestly as I can based on the information I have, if I can't answer to your satisfaction I would understand if you elected not to purchase.

To state that I am with holding information intentionally is not correct. 15,000+ sales to Ozbargainers, over 50% of sales are to repeat clients, cheapest prices in Australia. There is zero reason for me to BS the Ozbargain community, with hold information or "play us for mugs".

I'm guessing the item some are getting worked up about is the Hayfexo (as Dr Reddys is a well known made in India generic brand) Here is a pic of the box for the Hayfexo in this deal, no country of origin listed that I can see:

@jason101: Why do you feel you should be the one to make judgments for the rest of us as to whether country of origin information is relevant?

Any idea how many of those sales would not have gone through if they'd known? What do absolute numbers got to do with whether you have a motive to mask where this crap comes from anyway?

I bought some Hayfexo 70x 180mg from you, and it says "Made in India" on the box. Are you selling drugs without country of manufacture information? If so isn't that unlawful, indeed criminal? Maybe I should make a report - I wonder if I've still got your receipt….

Are you absolutely sure you don't have a truck?

That's your second opus. I know the technique - bang on about everything else and hope to distract from the real issue. Nice try but no banana haha.

@[Deactivated]: I've often thought about starting an AMA thread as the questions roll in, perhaps this can be the intro:

Why do you feel you should be the one to make judgments for the rest of us as to whether country of origin information is relevant?
I don't feel I should be the the one to make judgement, I just don't have the information (it is not stated on the retail boxes or provided by the manufacturers)

Are you selling drugs without country of manufacture information? If so isn't that unlawful, indeed criminal?
                  Yes, No and No

What do absolute numbers got to do with whether you have a motive to mask where this crap comes from anyway?
The numbers (most notably the repeat business) speak to the general satisfaction of clients, if they weren't happy i.e. felt I had misled them into their initial purchase, they wouldn't be repeat buyers. The total volume of clients (Thousands of repeat buyers) demonstrates its not just 50% of 3 people who came back to buy again, but many, many clients.

Why is some your stuff so cheap?
Family owned business, low rent, massive turnover of some line items (like Hayfexo) leading to outstanding buy in prices. Some suppliers provide cash rebates if we achieve sales volumes, some provide bonus stock. Some pharmacies put these bonus items out on the shelf, I usually bundle them up and pretty much gift them back to ozbargainers in bundle deals. In respect of some high volume lines, we sell more volume than some pharmacy chains (combined volume), I personally pack the meds, process the sales, post them daily etc so no wage costs (other than my time).

Are you absolutely sure you don't have a truck?
I do not have a truck, I have a Mazda CX-9 and BT-50, quite often I use the BT to get all the packages to the post office as they won't fit into the CX-9. I did move my office last week and I rented a truck from Budget, it was my first experience driving an "Automated manual transmission" vehicle, it was only $71 for a 24 hour rental which I thought was remarkable value.

That's your second opus. I know the technique - bang on about everything else and hope to distract from the real issue. Nice try but no banana haha.
One thing I've learned in life is that people buy from those they like, one way to get people to like me is to tell an interesting story relevant to the person you are speaking to, as long as the story is truthful I don't feel bad about this - I think its part of the theater of sales. This style fits my personality, I understand it may be a turn off to some. There's an element of showmanship in many Ozbargain posts (and comments), personally its one of the reasons I love this site, a fun evening for me is reading a thread where someone else posts "grabs the popcorn" as one of the first few comments, I know i'm in for a fun read.

I hope you can take this reply in the fun spirit it was intended, I'll do my best to list country of origin in future deals where this information is available to me ;-)

                  • -2

                    @jason101: OK, thanks. Bye.

  • C-ZINE link says sold out?

    • +1

Will see what we have left - its possible all stock at the reduced rate has sold, i'll see if I can obtain more at the promo price

  • thank you - purchased some of the 70 x HAYFEXO (Generic Telfast)

  • Jason I’m sorry that blokes like the basement dwelling masked avenger come on and criticise you for information that you simply don’t have. I’m happy to say that I am a more than satisfied repeat customer and it just grinds my gears when people come on here and just act like total tools. Keep killing it mate!

    • -1

Nice knee pads, and Total Tools has some great deals.

And he often does have the information, and has now kindly committed to include it in future posts.

That makes me objectively effective. Now go grind your gears.

    • Better just block (“hide”) the turkey, he’s just trolling for a response. It’s a pity we get this crap, but there’s always someone thinks it’s fun playing the anonymous pest

      • I sought an outcome and achieved it. Nothing more complicated than that.

        God Bless.

  • Naive question, but do people actually care at all for brand on simple meds like ibuprofen?

    • I do, but many likely do not.

But those who do not should respect the basic right of those that do to be informed.

I mean half this website is about informed choice - why should we abandon it here with something as basic as drugs as some seem to advocating?

      • Why do you care about the brand, though? It's all the same stuff held to the same rigorous australian standards, no?

I literally can't think of a better example of an easily avoidable ripoff than brand name medication. You're probably 1000x more likely to get sick from food poisoning at a takeaway or a restaurant than from tainted medication.

If it was made in China I'd be happy to boycott it, but none of it is.

  • Hi op, whats the expiry date on the 140x Hayfexo?
